Le dernier de son genre près de la rue 42nd Street, le restaurant Chez Josephine est un petit bijou de quartier fondé en 1986 par Jean-Claude Baker comme un hommage à la légendaire Joséphine Baker. Ce bistrot parisien propose des concerts de piano et un menu alléchant dans un cadre intime avec des murs de velours rouge, une profusion de lustres et un plafond bleu étain. Vous serez reçu chaleureusement comme si vous étiez de la famille, que vous veniez avant ou après un spectacle, pour un dîner tranquille entre les deux ou pour prendre un verre au bar de zinc.     From the moment we entered everything was great ! The manager was so nice and accommodating and the waiters were great !! The food was very good ! I ordered the escargot and the scallops .. my family ordered the tuna tartar, and the duck !!! It was all delicious!! For dessert we ordered creme brûlée, and the apple tart !! they were soooo good !! Coffee was a bit strong but good … I highly recommend!! Gracias !!!! Congratulations to the bartender!!!!! 🇺🇸👍👏👏 If you know you know !!!

    Great food in a cozy place. Location is great for pre-theater meal. Musician sang and played on the grand piano continuously during our dinner.

    Late night dinner. Excellent food and service. Piano player was great. Taken great care of by the owner, himself.

    Great service and food. Staff explained the name and history of the restaurant. Great place for lunch when going to the theatre. Good prefixe choices

    One of my favorite go-to's in the city. Love the ambiance; it's just a lovely, cozy space. The female piano player singing quietly in the background was an added bonus and makes for a very French experience. Our server was terrific.

    Delicious white asparagus with prosciutto appetizer and duck with wild rice entree. Exquisite chocolate mousse and cappuccino. Wonderful dining experience in every way!

    Chez Josephine has and will always be a magical place for me. The food is always delicious. The atmosphere is what I can only imagine is like being in a Paris bistro. You step into the restaurant and you are no longer in a NYC restaurant serving French cuisine, you are in Paris and it is magical. Someone plays the piano while you enjoy every delightful bite. The service is impeccable. Manuel greets you and you can sense his pleasure for what he does, just like Jean Claude before him. We had a leisurely brunch with mimosas and topped off with a great cup of coffee. Can't wait to return.

    Love this place have been here many times. The food was good, but the dessert was disappointing. I love profiteroles. The pastry was tough, even too tough to cut. One person felt it was terrible, too tough, not a quality ice cream, chocolate sauce just ok. The french onion soup was excellent.
