Our family of 3 generations has been dining at the Cardiff Chart House since 1991. We always come back for the outstanding service, the best tender prime rib and spectacular oceanfront views. The staff treats us like family and we are never disappointed!

My fiancés friend suggested this place for us to check out. We were at the zoo all day for my birthday and decided to make a reservation for the chart house to end the night. We were greeted very kindly, the restaurant was beautiful and elegant. I ordered a butterfly effect cocktail and the way our waitress served it was flabbergasting. They used dry ice to give it a magical effect. Started with the lobster bisque which was creamy and delicious. We ordered the filet mignon and New York strip, we were both blown away from how tasty and flavorful it was. The shrimp scampi we got on the side was a perfect touch of flavor and butter to the dish. We finished off with the hot chocolate lava cake which was indescribable, plus the birthday treat they kindly provided was super good. In all 11/10 in my experience. The staff was amazing and the food was great. The location is beautiful next to the water. Couldn’t have asked for a better birthday dinner. I Will definitely come again when I visit California.

We need to wait more than 20 minutes when we arrived there. The reataurant was full and begins the appointment. We can walk inside, because was fulllll the place. I think the service and the food is excellent just this issue that really bother me.

Really enjoyed this place! Price was a bit high for Mothers Day but the food for sure was excellent and satisfying! And the ocean views from the restaurant were absolutely gorgeous! Definitely a great place for celebrating and enjoying life!

We had a reservation confirmed for 1:15 The ladies at the check in desk are disorganized and dismissive we waited over 50 minutes They kept saying quote We are setting your table Really do they believe we are as intellectually limited as they are to believe that guano over and over Then they seated us in a booth with no view even though there was a vacate table next to it with a view We asked the young lady to seat us there but she ignored us Fortunately we saw a gentleman who was the manager We said to him Your service stinks He asked why and we informed him He got us immediately to the vacant table Our waiter Kevin was superb and your food was very good Overall your staff is not customer friendly and it partially extinguished our enjoyment For Father’s Day I think we will look elsewhere Sincerely Marc Rudich,M.D.

Our experience overall was pretty bad. We had a reservation at noon and waited for 35 minutes for our table. Since it was Mother's Day, I expected the service to be a bit slow since the place was packed but we not only waited for our table but then waited for 45 minutes our food to arrive. We were a party of three and all of us ordered off of the breakfast menu - traditional eggs Benedict, cheddar cheese omelette and the Johnny cakes. The food was tepid at best and practically inedible. The breakfast potatoes were gross, the omelet was thin, overcooked and basically a cheddar omelet with no cheddar. The Johnny cakes were specifically ordered with the toppings on the side but instead arrived with a huge pile of apple compote on top (which looked very unappealing). Had to ask for the syrup and the pancakes were also cold. We left most of our food on the plate because it just tasted horrible. I'm not one to write reviews but this was bad enough to say something - if you want good food and an ocean view I would not choose the Chart House in Cardiff.

Waited to be seated quite a bit. Very slow service. 1 hr 29 mins after reservation time we were handed our first drink and bread. Seated upstairs w/no view and felt like we were forgotten about. Soggy crab cake. Ruined Mother’s Day brunch.

This Chart House location has one of the best views in San Diego. The staff is very friendly (from the very efficient valets to the hostess and servers). The food was good on Mother’s Day, but extremely over priced. I understand it’s the view / location that influences the price tag, but $29 for an omelette is a bit much. The pace of food delivery was very slow ( due to the holiday rush I’m assuming), but we didn’t mind as it provided extra time with family and ocean view observation.

It was Mothers’s Day so a crowd was expected. My friend had the prime rib shavings eggs Benedict and loved it. I had the Chart House omelette which was disappointing. Service was slow. We had to ask for coffee warmup. But the view was lovely.

Had reservations at 7:30, seated at 7:52 pm, and dinner was not served until after 9 pm. People that were seated after us were served their meals and were done before us. Long wait to get service for drinks and food. Never received special birthday treat that we were told we would get. Server was good, polite and had his spiel. Asked for a non-sugary cocktail recommendation and he gave us a very sugary drink. Granted, the place was slammed with pre-Mother's Day crowd. Should have accommodated better. On positive side, the cocktails were overall excellent and the fish dishes were terrific.

As usual, the ambiance at the Chart House was perfect - nice and quiet, classy, clean, and of course, the gorgeous view. There were 3 of us - me, my wife, and my mother-in-law. The MIL ordered the lobster tail and still can't stop raving about it, it was that good for her. My wife ordered the veggie burger and said it came out excellent, and will definitely be on her short list the next time we go. I ordered the bacon, avocado, and tomato burger but was served a cheeseburger instead. Now, I would have said something to the waitress but it took the kitchen over 20 minutes to prepare our meal (despite the fact this was a quiet lunch hour on a Saturday) and I did not want to wait another 20 minutes for my burger. On top of that, the fries that I received with my burger, as well as the fries my wife received, were, at best, room temperature - it was obvious that had been put on our plates long before the burgers were cooked. As one might expect, you'll pay more for a burger at a place like the Chart House, given its location - and with that cost, you'd expect to get faster service, the right meal delivered to your table, and food temperatures like they were just cooked. We've eaten at this restaurant many many many times before, and have always received good food and service, so I don't know what went wrong this past Saturday.

The Charthouse in Cardiff is always a mix of locals and tourists dressed casually and then those who are dressed up and celebrating a special night. The food is great and the view of the ocean is always great too. Prompt valet parking as well.

Chart house is one of my favorite restaurants. Everything from their bar to the food on the table is excellent. The table service always goes an extra mile to make sure the dining experience is exceptional. To end it, you have a beautiful view of the beach as well as a sunset!!

We went at 1:30pm on Sunday and it was the perfect time. The restaurant wasn’t too crowded and we had a great table by the window with an ocean view on a beautiful day. Got to watch a dolphin swim by in the ocean. Our server was great and very attentive. His suggestions on food were great as it was all delicious and the key lime pie was a wonderful way to end the meal.

We had to wait after our reservation time. Then we were seated next to a large, loud engagement party. As the party was waiting people leaned against the railing with their butts inches from our table. We had planned for a quiet, intimate anniversary dinner but were very disappointed in the outcome. We have been celebrating at this restaurant for 50 years and this was the worst experience ever. I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We were there for sunset (sadly, didn't get a window table) and it was beautiful. Our server was Kelly and she was fantastic. She was efficient, polite and a complete delight. I enjoyed the prime rib and my husband had a shrimp pasta meal - both were quite good (husband mentioned there was a bit of a spice to the shrimp dish though). We have dined here before and will again.

If I ever eat in a carpeted upscale restaurant again that allows people to bring in 2 dogs in baby carriage I will walk out. These were not seeing eye dogs and they were not on a patio. I have always enjoyed dining with this restaurant. It will be a long time before I return if I ever do.
