HOTEL GUESTS: please call 415-735-7777 for reservations. In order to make a reservation in Charmaine's, a non-refundable $5 reservation fee per person will apply. This fee guarantee's seating space. In case of cancellation or no-show, the fee will not be refunded. Walk-ins are welcome any time but will be based on availability. We have been challenged with last-minute cancellations and no-shows, as our reservations appear more limited than they are in actuality. Our goal is an accurate depiction of our availability to allow our staff to better accommodate you. Indulge in a Mediterranean inspired Sunday afternoon beginning at 11 am! We will offer paella cooked over fire by our Chefs to pair with rosé from our versatile list until 2:30 pm. Admission is $30 (excluding tax and fees) per person and will include unlimited Paella. This is a must experience location in my opinion. It’s well designed and trendy while also serving tasty snacks to enjoy with an excellent selection of cocktails, wine and such. The rooftop views make it extra special. We paired our visit with theater tickets. We were at the Orpheum but this would work for the Golden Gate Theater as well. Don’t expect a cheap experience, but totally worth it. Also avoid if you are nervous about the homeless folks on Market Street. They didn’t give us any problems.

Amazing ambiance, amazing vibe, even the staff was really friendly! Amazing time here! The manager Louie was very attentive, polite! Truly a 5 star experience! Will definitely come back!

Expensive, but weak, drinks and food. Great vibe! Uncomfortable chairs. Top notch prices for not top notch food and beverage. Staff very very nice and accommodating.

Didn't have food, but the drinks and ambiance were on point! They also gave throws because it was chilly outside even with the fire going. Music was nice but not interfering with conversation which was great! The service was also amazing!

We experienced the Sunday paella and rose brunch. Overall we had a nice experience. We had a 2 pm reservation, arrived at 1:50pm; we waited in line to get up for 20 mins, and by the time we got up there, it was already 2:15, and the paella closes at 3pm. The server and host were nice, but it took a while to get drinks. The paella was okay, little bits of sand/shell/bone made eating a hazard. The rose was good but ordering 1 bottle and paying tips and taxes came up to 90 dollars, value and service not worth it. Go if you have a party, but otherwise, I would get paella at a great restaurant.

The check-in experience was slow (greeting, needing to be badged in for elevator use, etc). Also, the ride up to the rooftop stopped at 5 floors because it appears to be the service elevator for the Proper Hotel so we were sharing with housekeeping and staff. We didn’t meet our server for 20 minutes and didn’t have utensils, napkins, etc. we ordered a few extra items from the menu and didn’t receive 2 items, but we didn’t even bother to ask for it anymore. Service needs a lot of improvement! Fortunately, Paella was delicious!

Gorgeous views, cool glam vibe, delicious cocktails. Pricey but definitely the nicest spot in the neighborhood and perfect if you are going to the theater, getting in can be a little confusing - some of our party was made to wait in a line even though they told the security folks we had reservations and more than half of our party was already up since the manager inside told us that was what they should tell security to avoid the wait and line.

Both seafood and veggie paella were tasty. the staff who served paella were super nice and accommodating. But they reserved an indoor table for my group of 6 parties originally without any note on the website saying there is possibility not being seated outdoor. so they had us wait for >30 mins downstairs on the street (not the best place to wait) for an outdoor table to be ready. so if you only want to stay outdoor, do leave a note to them.

We were given a table which should really only be used as a backup for people who don’t reserve and are desperate to get in. As a party with a reservation, paying a lot of money for a paella experience, we did not appreciate being put at a table in the back of the restaurant in the windiest corner. If I hadn’t paid in advance I would have left. When asked for a different table, we were initially rejected but luckily they eventually found us a table when another party left. Still, I think it’s a disgrace to even have put us at the initial table. Thankfully we were able to enjoy the rest of the experience. The paella is good but not worth the price we paid. On top of that my little glass of diet coke from a fountain machine was 6 dollars before tax, SF mandate and tip???? Seriously? Speaking of tips, precharging a 20% tip on top of a 7.5% SF mandate for the paella is also ridiculous. A tip should be earned, not prepaid. I won’t be returning to Charmaine’s.

Very nice rooftop. Enjoyed our table in the side courtyard. It took some getting used to with the low chair backs and tiny tables but it all worked. The reservation fee on a Wednesday night. I didn't see if it was taken off the bill. I didn't ask and forgot to look. There was a hefty SF fee of some sort also added to the bill. The staff was great but we didn't order very well. Would have been nice to know that the tacos came with potatoes (weird) so we didn't order the other potatoes and french fries. I ordered an $18 gin martini with a $3 up charge for the recommended Tangerey. Oof. I enjoyed the music and the amazing view as the sun was setting. Easy to get to from civic center Bart.

Beautiful views. I loved the decor. Food and drinks were tasty but I honestly think $20 for a specialty cocktail is still outrageous for 2024. One major criticism was bathroom access. There is a pole that would not allow anyone with a wheelchair to access the corridor where the bathrooms are.

We didn’t have any food but I had to give a ranking, so I ranked 3 stars (midrange). Anyway, the ambiance is superb and the drinks we had were great! We were a group of 6 and talked when we left and all agreed, we’d definitely go back! However, once you get out of the hotel (it was evening for us), the area was very scary. So just keep that in mind.

Food and table service was excellent. We were running late and tried to call but we later learned from the doorman that despite having a phone number there was no direct phone service to the restaurant. We were then told that our reservation would be cut short because we were late. It then took about 10 minutes to actually be let inside. The entry staff as a whole were really off putting. Grateful that the upstairs experience was much better than the first impression.

Look, food was alright, atmosphere was cool, views were great. Staff was also doing just fine. My biggest hang up here was my fault. Don’t use the valet services there. They didn’t share the price with me and turns out it was more than the food that day. I payed $60 to park there and it took 21 minutes to get my car back once I notified the valet I was ready for it. I let the hotel staff know but they didn’t seem to be much help there.

Management is awesome! He was able to give me back my $30 because I had 4 guest and then it went to 3 guest and everything about it was great! The food was surprisingly good. I will be back for more paella soon!

In all honesty, we had a great experience. Service, ambience, view, and paella was amazing, probably the best I’ve ever had. My Wife is a big paella critic, and she said it was amazing as well. We will definitely be back to check out the evening rooftop seen. 😎👍🏽

We went to Charmaine's for their Paella and Rose Lunch promo. Rose was fine, but minimum $16/glass. Paella was very disappointing: mussels were not open, chicken pieces had hard cartilage, half of the shrimp still had the shell on, and the flavor was just bland overall. We will not be going back and I would not recommend this overhyped lounge.

It was lovely, the gentleman that helped our table was very attentive and the food was delicious! Such a sweet surprise! Def highly recommend. Just have your antenna up on the way over the neighborhood is not the nicest in the city.

Amazing rooftop in the center of this great city , the vistas are spectacular . The food is your basic bites , fish tacos , pork belly etc… it’s all well done ! You’re greeted initially by the doorman and taken upstairs revived by the host. The ambience is eclectic with old and new touches making a chill vibe welcoming you!

They shouldn’t offer a 2:30p reservation when the kitchen closes at 2:30p. The paella might have been good if it was hot 🥘. I’ll try it again at an earlier time. The location is beautiful - expect a pricey valet or a 3 block walk to the closest lot.
