I used to enjoy this tea room so much. However I was very disappointed this visit. They were very understaffed. Took around 20 minutes for someone to take our order. Then another 30 minutes for our food to arrive. Food was not to its usual quality. Honestly couldn’t wait to leave.

I recently visited the Chado Tea Room in Pasadena for their Afternoon Tea service while on vacation, and it was a delightful experience. The variety of teas available is impressive, and the pretty teapot add a charming touch. I chose the Shrangi LA green tea and loved it, and my friends enjoyed their selections as well. We requested numerous substitutions for our sandwiches and desserts, which were accommodated without issue. Although a few items were initially missed, the staff quickly rectified it when we brought it to their attention. The Tea was delicious, and the sandwiches and desserts were equally enjoyable. The strawberries were particularly sweet, and the jam was delectable. The scones were clearly homemade, both in appearance and taste. Service was excellent, albeit not perfect, but considering how busy they were, I wouldn't recommend visiting if you're in a rush. However, when we were attended to, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Overall, I highly recommend the Chado Tea Room and look forward to returning on my next visit to town.

The only thing preventing me from giving 5 stars all the way across was the fact they seemed a bit short staffed and it took more than 15 mins to settle our bill - otherwise a beautiful experience and I would highly recommend

I been to many tea restaurants around the town. This is by far the best I have been too. Sitting on the covered patio out front is delightful. The inside is a bit noisy and not as cute. The food and the tea were excellent. They really accommodated gluten free and vegetarian options. Be sure to call ahead so they are aware of your dietary needs. You can also buy their tea at the counter. Service is slow a few times I needed to go inside to find help. However it was well worth it for we got for the price. Highly recommend.

The desserts do not taste like freshly made. The cookies and macarons taste like they are from boxes. The sandwiches and scones taste worse than mediocre. Other than the food, the service is terrible. We are Chinese and we made a reservation r party of 4. They assigned us to a table that’s on the road side. There was another table available.I asked whether we could take that one. The girl told me that table was for party of 5. Then I just took the table on the road side. A little later, they put four white ladies to that table. And what’s worse, I found five tea cups pre-set on our table. This made me really uncomfortable.

Came for a post-graduation tea party with my daughter and her aunts. Lovely setting, sweet teapots and cups, hot scones and chocolates - and a cup of vanilla ice cream with a Congratulations written in chocolate on the plate. Thank you!! We loved it.

Hmm. Where to start. I made reservations here for Mother’s Day after researching a number of tea rooms in the area. I needed it to accommodate a gluten free guest with a medical condition, so I was excited to hear they offer gluten free options. I was also pleased to see they didn’t seem to have a prefix menu on Mothers Day like the other tea rooms, because we all have different dietary needs. When I called to confirm the reservations they revealed actually it was only going to be a prefix menu but they assured me they would have gluten free options. Drove an hour to get there with my 80 year old British mother in tow. Upon arrival it was disappointing at best. The place had zero ambience. You would expect a tea room to be decorated to some degree, with some kind of pastel palette or botanical prints, but this place was drab and white with nothing more than a few framed pictures in the walls. They didn’t seem to have reserved a table for us but happened to have one available that they cleaned off for us. They brought us some flavorless brown water in a Champaign glass and called it Champaign-infused iced tea or some such nonsense, and then they revealed they were out of the gluten free options. At this point I was so over this place I simply started looking for another restaurant in the area on my phone. The waiter, who may have also been the owner, tried to assuage my upset, perhaps because he anticipated this review, by offering us chocolates to take home. This was Mother’s Day and we drove a long way to find this joke of a place pretending to know how to offer a British Tea service. This is the most inauthentic, misleading, unprofessional establishment I think I’ve ever been to in LA. Will not be back and they should be ashamed of themselves for advertising themselves as anything other than an overpriced sandwich joint.
