Honestly the omakase was very underwelling and I’ve tried several in the city. Not a good bang for your buck, I know they have better pieces of fish to offer so I figured I was gonna be wowed, but wasn’t at all

Excellent little gem! Creative and delicious offerings. Nicely presented. Grilled items very tasty and unusual. Great bar atmosphere as well as separate more traditional sushi bar and dining room. Great for special occasions as well as casual pop ins.

food was very good, 9/10 for their nigiri, and really excellent quality and variety. But 500 USD for 2 is nevertheless a stiff price, even when you deduct 140 USD for alcohol.

The lunch omakase with extra add on was extremely delicious but we felt a bit rushed in and out, even though there was no one else at the bar with us. It was a birthday treat and I wish we could have taken a bit more time between pieces. Then, when it was completed we waited about fifteen minutes for the check, drinks and food long since completed. I guess we didn't look very important to them, which, fair.

Super lively on a Wednesday evening! Had a wonderful time with the help of Krista and the army of team members that made the experience wonderful. I love the dry age program and if you are a somewhat experienced sushi eater, the difference is HUGE! Go go go!

Fantastic experience from start to finish. I made lunch reservations for six but we had one extra person show up unexpectedly. Despite the restaurant being fairly busy with the lunch crowd, the establishment accommodated us without any issue. Once seated, waitress was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable on dining options and made fantastic recommendations. And the food was absolutely amazing! Honestly some of the best sushi I've had in Chicago period. As memorable an experience as any place I've been to across the country. The owner, Tony, was even kind enough to come out and chat with us for a bit as well. Great guy. Highly, highly recommend. Five stars without question!

Wife and I decided on an early Saturday dinner, so we got a chance to experience the happy hour menu, everything was good. Cocktails were well crafted sushi was so fresh and tasty, my wife isn't a big salmon fan, she devoured my grill sampler salmon which also came with chicken thigh,, short rib, mushrooms and asparagus, so good. We are really looking forward to our next visit.

Just fine sushi place but way over priced for quality, lack of ambiance (fake plants do not scream high end sushi), and overall dining experience. Servers are good and attentive but should have known the partnership with Mallort is not going to be the fine dining experience we were hoping for. In the west loop but not west loop quality. Would not good again. Skip and go to Sunda, butterfly sushi or miku in Lincoln square.

I have lived in Chicago 64 years and I’ve eaten sushi everywhere. The sushi at.Jinsei Motto is the best I have had. The spicy scallop roll was so unique and delicious. I also highly recommend the bluefin tuna roll. The cocktails pure perfect with the food. I will recommend this to my friends and make this a regular when I go for sushi..

Very tasty sushi although I thought that two of the specialty Makis were just too big to comfortably eat without biting — and then having them fall apart. The spicy scallops were better in this regard but the topping was also hard to eat with chopsticks. The ratio of quality to value struck me a bit off too since I thought our bill was pretty high for what we got. My guest and I also thought that each of us getting one tiny mochi each for dessert was chintzy. Overall good experience though.

Really exceptional sushi. The spicy tuna roll was particularly good as well as the spicy salmon roll and the salmon nigiri.

The service from the moment we walked and got seated was on point. We had a reservation and did not wait even a minute long to be seated. Our server, Peter (requesting him from now on), didn't have us waiting too long to introduce himself, and was great with explaining the entire happy hour menu and general menu with us. He suggested some items from the menu which were delicious and never lingered around the table too long. The service was impeccably fast, therefore we were never left empty handed, nor did we wait too long for our food. Overall, I'm rating this place a 10!

Go this place everytime I am in Chicago for work. The sushi is Fantastic. Lots of creativity and the flavor profiles are outstanding! Love the service and the owners are customer focused.

I did the lunch omakase. Everything was delicious. For me, the 10 piece menu is much more doable because I can’t finish the longer dinner options. Will definitely do it again.

The omakaze experience was phenomenal. The chef and his assistants were all extremely personable, the food was exquisite, and the night was overall amazing. A bit on the spendy side after drink pairing and restaurant-added 20% gratuity (which I’d have given anyway, but perhaps one of the few occasions I’d forgive auto-adding such is for Omakaze given the limited seating) but no regrets, it truly was a delight, just one to be saved for special occasions. Their preparation of taking (octopus) sashimi may be the best I’ve ever had, and everything was just melt in your mouth. Totally would go back.

The menu looked really good, and since sushi was priced at 7$ at least per piece I thought it will be something remarkable. It was very average, the spices and additions with the sushi were completely dis balanced and either it was too spicy or too blend. I would definitely not recommend it for anyone looking for a good sushi experience. Also, it was very cold. I asked why is it so cold, because everyone wore a hoodie or even a light jacket, and i was informed that because it is cold outside. Right… anyways, definitely a disappointment.

The sushi was very good but the value was not good. There places with the same quality of fish at a much better price. The service was very good but because of the absurd prices I will not be back.

We had a great night at CH Distillery, the food was great and our server Daniel P was a joy to have take care of us. Only criticism I have for the price of a 1 ounce shot of whisky, I would maybe up that size to 1.5 ounces. Other than that, it was a fantastic date night.

What a superb experience ! I had heard good things about this restaurant but the experience was above and beyond our expectations. Despite having lived at various times for 7+ years in Japan this was some of the very best sushi we have ever tried - and put together in a very creative but still authentic manner. We dined over year-end at a very renowned 2 star Michelin sushi restaurant in Tokyo and this was significantly better. Would strongly recommend the omakase experience but a la carte looked very good also. Will certainly return soon...
