We ordered the tasting menu. The first dish was tuna and guacamole. It did not seem Spanish-inspired. The metal stand it was served on was perhaps 12" high- like the stand one would use for a seafood e.g. oysters plate. Much too high. The paella was cold, much too large a portion, and no soccrat. The dessert of pineapple and some kind of sauce tasted great but should have been in another type of dish. It was too deep. The lighting at night could be a little lower.

Second time dining here and regrettably, not as good as the first time. The food was good, but the service was way off mark. Our waiter kept pushing us to order entrees in a manner only seen at a fast food joint. What’s happened here?! I’d like to also add that the wine list is now a minuscule version of the original. Apparently the restaurant has changed ownership. I hope the new ownership takes stock of this place and reinvigorates it.

Service was not particularly welcoming at all, each time our server arrived at the table, he stared before saying anything. We also got sat in the far back corner when nearly everybody else was sat in the main dining room for some reason while there were many unseated tables on this regular Wednesday evening. Food was definitely good but nothing extraordinary especially for the price but I suppose that can be accounted for in the curation of quality ingredients. The highlight of this restaurant is its interior architecture (save the oddly paired music); if only we were sat somewhere where we could better take in the architecture.

We have been at Casa Dani countless times, and always was a great experience, unfortunately looks like this is going to be a “used to” place. Croquetas used to be the best in NY, now are meh at best Pan con tomate and tuna belly used to be one of the best appetizers, now they are little sponges soaked on tomato liquid that kills the tuna flavor. They used to have a great wine list that no only is now limited to 3-4 options (they have more french selections than Spanish, hello? Is this a Spanish restaurant?) but also way overprice ($100 for a $20 bottle) The service used to be great, yesterday it was the worst service we have had ever, and oh! When they bring the check the bring it with 20,22 and 25% in all fairness the paellas are still great and the oxtail brioche always on point, but unfortunately looks like they just gave up and are only interested in one time tourist guests. 😞

Our server was great, the sommelier made a wonderful recommendation on a bottle of wine... When we ordered a second bottle, he came by the table and removed the bottle and decanter (which still had some wine in it) and whisked it away before we could say anything and brought the decanter back full with the new empty wine bottle. I quietly mentioned to the sommelier that it was very unusual to remove the decanter with wine still in it and to not let us taste the new wine before decanting it etc and it was met with a dismissive attitude. For all I know the wine could have been swapped for a cheaper bottle and decanted with the original wine bottle brought back. I tasted it and don't think that was the case. I've never experienced that from a restaurant let alone a knowledgeable sommelier before. The fact that an apology wasn't given was disappointing. The food was fine but didn't blow us away given the mostly positive reviews we had read. The seafood paella wasn't good so we didn't eat it and our wonderful server took it off the bill and brought out some complimentary desserts which was appreciated.

We were told preparation of whole fish might take 20 - we said fine. We weren’t served for least 45 minutes and when we were, the fish was room temperature. One of worst dinning experiences I have ever had in NYC.

If you like Red Lobster or Olive Garden, you will love Casa Dani. Though the food is terrible, the service is an insult.

Food was good, although very overpriced for what it was. Service was terrible. The servers were all nice and competent, but there were not enough of them, and there didn't seem to be a single server assigned to our table. They raced by and ignored signals or whatever, and I actually had to get up twice to find someone to ask them to come to the table. I blame the management, not the staff. Never again.

Our party was originally set for 9 but due to cancellations dwindled to 5. They moved us to a smaller table (understandably). However, they replaced our party with another party of 5. Last minute dinner choice in a Tuesday. Super busy and very loud for a business dinner. Waiter forgot to input our paella order so by the time we realized, it was too late. Super bummed to not be able to try it. Food was delicious. Would go again in a heartbeat.

Carlos promised me that one exec would have meaningful vegetarian options, comparable to other diners. He kept his word. I am very pleased that I chose Casa Dani & will not hesitate to do so again! Furthermore, I will encourage my colleagues to dine there.

Service, ambience, cocktails and some of the food items like the oxtail, and cod/jalapeño tapas were amazing. Some of the food options were so so especially given the price point. Great to try and maybe go once in a while especially groups but not the best value for the price point.

Servers were fabulous. Personnel in the kitchen were overwhelmed. Our order was messed up. Even when our nice waiters asked for our food several times, the food came late and out of order. The Mediterranean Salad was extremely salty. The fluke crudo was outstanding.

We love the place and go very often but we have realized that the food quality (or the way they are making the dishes) have changed to worse. I.e rice pudding or the paella (although the octopus was excellent). However the croquetas are still awesome

It was the third time I went to Casa Dani. I invited my friend to come this time since he never had this before. There was a very big party there in the restaurant. So the waitresses seem to only serve that large party. We were there 7pm, and the server didn’t come to take our order till 7:30. We ordered around 8 dishes and was noticed that 3 of them has already sold out cuz of the big party. And that was only 7:30 at night. We need to pick replacement dishes for that. During our dinner, the waitress only come to refill the water once. We need to ask them to refill every single time. The most ridicules part is that we almost finished our meal except one Paella called squid ink around before 8:30. The whole table is empty. Till 8:50, the Paella is still not served on the table. We asked the server and the manger come to say it will be ready in other 15 mins. It is because that the big party has ordered the Paella and fulfilled all the cooking range. We still gave them the time to finish the dish. After 15 mins, it comes. BUT, the rice is NOT FULLY COOKED AT ALL!! And we told the manger such situation and he said he would check with the chef. And guess what did he said when he’s back. He said they would continue cook it for 3 more mins. THEY JUST ADMITTED!!! We just cancel the dish and left. It was a so TERRIBLE experience I’ve ever had in Casa Dani which I used to love this restaurant so much.

had a great time at Casa Dani... their appetizers were really sublime... loved the pulpo dish and artichoke hearts w/ shredded iberian ham. Their tuna from andalucia was amazing. Next time I would order their paella kept in pan (instead of their servers plating onto dishes)... couldnt do the scraping of pan for paella bits

The waiter might as well have been an emotionless robot. We asked him if he was required to speak Spanish as the table next to us was all native Spaniards. He laughed and said no and then joked that he didn’t even know what traditional paella was. They didn’t have any charcuterie which is usually a reason to go to a Spanish restaurant. The place was empty and feels like a hotel lobby. It was my wife’s 40th birthday so it was a disappointment.

Food was good but did not meet the hype of a restaurant being opened by a Michelin-starred chef. The pan con tomate was soaked in olive oil. Still tasty but a little subtlety, perhaps? The crudo wasn't a crudo at all but instead just a straight up ceviche. Despite being okay, setting the wrong expectations really affected our enjoyment of the dish. Most disappointing was probably the Spanish omelette, which we were looking forward to as visitors of Spain. I expected it to be different and it was, but not in a positive way. There was so much onion and not enough egg. Then, the $3 onion add-on tasted great but by the time you poured this on, you were eating just a giant blob of onions - nothing like an authentic spanish omelette. The paella is also curiously shown in pan (beautiful) and then plated rather haphazardly - a pile of rice on one side with octopus on other. Did I just pay $100 to eat the same plate of rice I get at halal carts? The taste was okay but there was no crisply parts and it just did not look that appetizing. This is all before we get to the service, which was simply horrendous. Waited almost 20 minutes to get a drink. Drink was awful, tasted like straight vodka. Then food just kept coming out non-stop without any regard for pacing. Everyone was nice about it but it all added to something way less than par.

Our experience at Casa Dani was one of the best wholistic experiences we’ve have at a restaurant. We had the Chef’s Tasting Menu and our amazing server Edward recommended a great wine pairing for the experience. We had 6 tapas plates, the pork rib paella, and 2 phenomenal desserts.
