COOKING WITH FIRE, SOUTH TEXAS STYLE Carriqui celebrates the South Texas tradition of drawing flavor from fire. Inspired by the flight path of our namesake bird, our menus feature regional favorites from the Rio Grande Valley, Texas coast, and the Hill Country. Nearly every dish is touched by the glowing embers of our custom-forged pits, smoker, or grill, all fueled by native wood. Along with housemade tortillas, cold margaritas, and warm hospitality, each meal is an opportunity to experience the vibrant food and spirit of our South Texas culture.

We sat upstairs and it was quieter. The restaurant itself was not stuffy or overdone, it was very comfortable. Every experience with staff was polite and knowledgeable. The only thing we didn’t like was the fish dish. Apparently the sauce they use is an acquired taste from what we googled. Once we scraped the topping/sauce off it was much better.

Food and service were great - as always. Noise, level, however, is almost a show stopper. I keep coming back for the food and service but when asked for a recommendation it’s always with the caveat- “it’s so loud you may have trouble hearing…”. It’s what I hear from others too.

What an incredible experience from the moment we walked in until we left. The service from everyone was stellar and the menu an incredible array of selections. We were all most impressed by the smoked flavors of the meat and chicken. I ordered the FISH A LA PLANCHA and it blew my mind away. The preparation of the fish and the poblano-lime mayo was a perfect match. Everyone in my party enjoyed the atmosphere, service, food, and drinks.

My family and I came here for breakfast and it was delicious! The environment was gorgeous and the food and service were great. Our waitress Sonia was super friendly and made sure we had a good experience! I’d reccomend getting the caffe de olla, it’s a spiced Mexican coffee.

Our fourth visit to Carriqui, first time with friends, was another pleasurable time of good eating and comfortable social interaction. Our impression is that Carriqui is now operating smoothly and has settled into an effective dining menu and environment (after some early blips). The training of servers seems to be very good and they interact well with customers. Initial chips & salsa were very good. My wife had the Barbacoa plate; I had the Birria. Our guests split and shared a burger and a chicken enchilada plate. We all enjoyed our meals in this unique spot

We started with the chips and guacamole and added burnt ends, it was amazing. Also tried the fish tacos and the brisket. Both were very good service was outstanding.

Everything we ate was delicious. From the ceviche to the burnt end nachos. Then the barbacoa and fish tacos. Best part could’ve been the drinks. Also Darryl took great care of us. Great place to visit.

We love Carriqui. One of our favorite spots. This time around there was a light that flickered on and off throughout the dinner, creating some ambience miss. The busy fiesta had a few menu items out as well. Overall enjoyed it though and will always recommend/return.

Providing an elevated yet authentic South Texas dining experience, Carriqui is easily the premiere San Antonio location for local flavors. The ambiance and decor are unmatched, the service is impeccable and the food is mind blowing. From the ceviche to the roasted carrots, birria mole and expertly smoked brisket, Carriqui is the real deal. Although the noise level does get high, one can't really blame a restaurant for being busy. Do yourself a favor and reserve a table, stat.

Food and Carriqui margarita was excellent we had tuna tostada and corn muffin appetiser-both were exceptionally good. Service was outstanding. It was noisy for our old ears tho and rather chilly. We will be back, but I’ll bring a sweater

My husband and I both ordered margaritas, his came out without the floater and had to be re-done. He ordered the fajitas, I ordered fish. My fish came out and was so salty it was inedible. At the table, our server took the spoon from my place setting and took a bite of it at the table to see if I was telling the truth (I have never had a server do this). She agreed that it was over salted and asked me if I wanted something else. I wasn’t sure, but I said I’d take the shrimp (I didn’t have a menu in front of my and my husband was already well into his food). When the shrimp came out—at least 12-15 minutes later and after my husband was finished with his meal—I ate a couple, but found some of them to be undercooked. Our server walked by our table seven times with my knife and fork crossed on the plate (we were clearly not eating) and never stopped. She never asked about the shrimp. She never sent anyone to check on us/apologize. She even walked the long way around the upstairs to avoid walking by our table. When she finally came, we did not order dessert (we had been sitting for quite some time) even though she knew we had intended to order dessert (I love churros). She ultimately brought the bill and ran our card (without letting us look at the check)—but did not take the shrimp off. When I told her she should have done that, she argued with me. I went downstairs and asked the bartender to speak to a manager. I was left waiting at the bar while our server took the check to the manager and spoke to him for several minutes. Finally, I had to interrupt them to say that the shrimp should not have been left on the bill and that the fish was inedible. The manager told me “sometimes entrees just comes out that way”. I sent an email last night which was received and got this response: "We hope to have the opportunity to serve you better in the future."

I'm so glad that I made the last minute decision to grab a quick bite at Carriqui! The food was delicious (I highly recommend the flavorful, multi-textured roasted cauliflower and the super-moist, perfectly sweet corn cakes) and the world-class hospitality from Shauna (the lovely hostess), Ben (my knowledgeable, friendly server) and Tanya (the gregarious manager who took the time to stop at my table and ask if my meal was satisfactory...I think my empty plates and "full belly" grin gave away the answer!) made this visit to Carriqui the first of many to come! The food was great. We went for lunch/brunch and it was quiet around 11:30am but was getting busy. We ordered the queso appetizer and added brisket burnt ends. It was fantastic. We also tried the pastrami brunch special and the sweet corn cakes. Everything was really good and the service was top notch. The house margaritas were also great and probably one of the best I’ve had. Highly recommend!

Chef Jaime is a culinary mastermind. His menu showcases the flavors of South Texas perfectly and in such a creative yet authentic way. You have to try the charred carrots!!! The Red Snapper ceviche and homemade tortillas were out of this world, so fresh and delicious! The crispy smoked quail was another favorite as well. Great hospitality, and attention to detail.

Our expectations were exceeded throughout the whole of our experience. Watch this: - Parking. Free lot directly behind the restaurant with spacious parking. Park the car and you are in the restaurant in 20 seconds. - Aroma. Soon after stepping out of your car, mouth watering aromas waft across the parking lot, providing a hint of what's to come. - Check-In. Despite the online system showing no outside seating due to a special event, the staff found a way to offer it anyway. We ultimately elected to stay inside - they responded immediate with an incredible table. - Service. Alexis provided service par excellence. His intimate knowledge of the menu and wonderful personality made the experience amazing! He has worked their virtually since inception and knows his stuff - worth asking for him by name! - Ambiance. At ever single turn the buildings and grounds have a perfect congruence of ambiance. A place for everything and everything in its place aligned to the name Carriqui - brilliant! Definitely coming again and bringing family and friends!

Among the best food I’ve ever tasted. Highly recommend the cabbrito and sweet corn cakes. Environment and service is delightful. Great drinks.

Great experience! The corn cakes were out of this world Drinks from the bar were wonderful and the old fashion had toasted pecans, wow, unexpected but so good. Our server was attentive and nice Will definitely be back
