Welcome to DC Capitol Square Bar & Grill!
We are pleased to announce that we are the first family restaurant serving the Hill East neighborhood. Located at the corner of E Capitol & 15th St on Historic Capitol Hill. The Cap Square Bar & Grill wants to be your place for reconnecting with friends and family as we reemerge from the pandemic.
DC Cap Square Bar & Grill is a reflection of our diverse community, and our cuisine aims to reflect that diversity, blending culture, great food, and ambiance for everyday dining as well as important celebrations such as birthdays, graduations, retirements, and rehearsal dinners. We hope that every visit to our restaurant will bring out the nostalgia of our historic Washington DC community and provide a relaxing place to enjoy fresh, healthy food, whether that is breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
We will strive to provide authentic American Cuisine and comfort food that will appeal to a broad variety of tastes with a touch of elegance and sophistication.

Waiters were showing favoritism based on skin tone. They would be so polite and articulate with those with whiter skin. At times they came out to refill water and didn’t ask if I wanted mines refilled. I came in first but somehow I was always walked pass and getting checked on last. That day was my last day there.

My friend and I went here on Thursday at 6:30. We booked a reservation although it was not needed there were tables open. We were seated immediately and warmly greeted at the door. I started with the Ricky Froze cocktail which was Yummy ! And my friend had the “What a melon” cocktail which was good (just stir it up first) because then it won’t taste as strong lol. The setting was nice to sit outside under the covered patio. One suggestion I have is to have small plates on the table so food can be easily shared. We order the Crab Mac and Cheese which was delicious; full of crab meet and made with cavatappi pasta. I chose this based on other reviews and I was not disappointed! We had the shrimp and grits and the shrimp were meaty and big ! So good! The grits were a bit runny and the seasoning was mild but overall not bad! I ordered the Oxtail with Jollof rice. The oxtail was a bit fatty so not a lot of pieces of meat but the jollof rice was yummy! The inside has a nice bar but a small seating area. Overall ambiance is very fancy!

The overall experience was good: food, ambience, location. The only area of improvement needed would be in coordination: keeping track of what's needed at each table. But, the FOOD! That alone is worth return trips!

Such a disappointing Mother's Day. I never received my entree! It took 45 minutes to get a mimosa. Our waiter had to be flagged down and reminded of what we ordered. I asked to cancel my order and get the check. Will not return. I had the opportunity to taste what my family ordered and although the food was good, I won't be going back. You have one time to make a first impression and it was ruined. I have never left a reservation to go home and heat leftovers. Very disappointing experience.

The food was good however the desserts were grosly overpriced. The employees were nice but customer service on wait staff needs attention. They did not have enough servers per table on mother's day. The music was easy too loud we could barely hold a conversation. Tables need to be greeted with water within 2 minutes of seating. And the server needs to check on the table within 5 minutes of the food being dropped. We waited a full 25 minutes for a small $13 slice of lemon cake after we finished or meal. That was way too long! they brought out appetizers with my entree and then I had to ask several time for small sgaring plates, instead they brought rectangular plates that crowded the table. The food was good, the decorations were pretty. But for that prime location, they have potential but they tighten up the service and either bring the dessert prices down to $10, make the slices bigger, or atleast offer ascoop of icecream with it for the hefty$13 price! I could get more value at chessecake factory.

Great brunch spot. Friendly & courteous staff. Yummy, savory, & tasty food and drink. We were not disappointed. The waitress was sweet and the server patiently captured video for us. We will definitely be back. 🖤

Hostess was courteous and inviting. Food was 10/10 and flavorful! Ambiance was great. We will definitely recommend this place to others!

Food was good. Seemed understaffed so we had to wait a lot for waiter to be back. Very chilled place, would not recommend if you want fun environments.

This was my second time visiting the restaurant both times the service and food were exceptional!!! Parker out waiter was awesome? the hostess who I believe was the bartender as well made us laugh while greeting us. The manager or owner came to check on us too. The food and cocktails were top tier, we will definitely be back.

The food was not good at all . The coconut rice did not taste like coconut rice it taste d spoil the jollof rice the same. I won't recommend
