I tried the Vegan Jambalaya. Because of an allergy to pork, I never get to eat Jambalaya. I asked the server, several times, to promise there was no sausage in the Jambalaya. It was so delicious and had the texture of sausage. It was so good. I hope they keep it on the menu. The restaurant is very loud. Hard surfaces and heavy chairs that have to be dragged across the concrete floor. So, not great for conversation, but the food … yummy

We ate outside which was lovely temperature wise and very little noise. We had a charming waiter that was very helpful. Food is always great

Food took a long time to come out. Almost a half hour, and it was not busy. The staff were often behind the bar talking to each other. This place used to have a lot of vegan dishes and I thought the chef was vegan. They still offer a couple vegan options but the quality is not what it used to be.

During a conference, staff was not prepared and meal came 65mins after ordering. Others who ordered after our table received food and had left before our food was served.

I love going here! It’s a smaller restaurant so the staff is more attentive. I love that the menu rotates with the season. I’ve been going here for years now. Never disappoints

Our experience at Capitol Garage was fine, but not great. The menu online was not accurate because they had changed their menu at some point, which meant I couldn't get the meal I really wanted and had planned to get. The food took over 45 minutes to get to our table from the time we ordered, and it was okay, but not amazing. Overall, it was okay, but I probably wouldn't go again because there are lots of other amazing restaurants in the area.

Managed a last-minute reservation. The place was packed and so loud. Opted to sit outside, although it was freezing as this was better than inside due to the noise. Unfortunately, the heater nearest us was never turned on. It was difficult to sit down as there were too many tables for the patio space. We ordered promptly as we were told it would be 45min wait for food. Well, this ended up being 70-75 minutes for our food. The entire restaurant had cleared out, and we finally got our food. Benedict was pretty basic. The breakfast burger was fine. The walut pasta with chicken was bland. Zero flavor. The amount of chicken was tiny. Unfortunately, while well located, this place is sub-par. Would not recommend.

Wonderful evening, Rubin was perfect server and the chef rocks…. taco salad with steak was delicious and husbands salmon dish was excellent. Thank you for a perfect dinner.

When I arrived with my friend, I had a reservation and was seated in a table close to the door. When asked to sit at the next table (which was empty), the server said that it was reserved by someone online. I had also reserved online, and didn't realize that there was a different site that gave the option to choose tables to sit. Upon looking at the menu when in the restaurant, it was not the same as written online. When I asked the server to come over and started to explain why I came to Capital Garage, the server cut me off mid-sentence and said that the paper menu was the current menu and they had issues with changing the online menu. It was disturbing that he interrupted me and didn't apologize for the inconvenience. Instead he stated that everything on the menu was good. That wasn't the complaint. Then to add to the upset change in food options, the dessert chocolate mouse, was not available. Not the best visit. If I wasn't tired, I totally would have walked out. The last two times I visited, were much better visits. If I recommend Capitol Garage, I would have the person call for the most updated menu and how to best reserve a table.

I had a breakfast reservation at 9:30. I was a bit shocked to see that my son and I were the very first customers. Which made for a very quick seating “We had a choice “ We got settled and the host informed us that our server would be right over. My apologies but I forgot her name and he did say it. Anyway she was upbeat and informed, also thanks to the chief I was able to get a version of Steak and eggs and Steak and eggs weren’t on the menu. Talk about customer service. Overall a great choice to celebrate my son’s 20th birthday.

Got sick from the salmon appetizer. They ran out of polenta but offered to replace it with rice or another entree. Instead of just white rice, the rice was stir fried with some vegetables which was not tasty. The mousse was good but there was way too much whipped cream in the dessert cup. The main entree was also inedible - just some BBQ sauce over salmon that wasn't cooked well. The asparagus was at least cooked well and just the right amount of crispness. The restaurant wasn't that full but there was a 5-6 yr old at the next table that kept screaming every so often while talking & made it impossible to hear but no one did anything to stop it.

The food was absolutely wonderful. A group of girls met for brunch. Spicy blood Mary 4 stars! Eggs Benedict 4 stars! Service was on point! I live out of town but love going there. Only down fall is the noise level. Hard to hear.

First night of 2024 Dine Downtown Sacramento. Perfect portions, quality food and excellent service. The only reason 4 stars and not 5 was, it was kind of cold. I know, it’s a garage !!!!!

We went there before the Sacramento Broadway play as they are a preferred restaurant through Sac Broadway. The waiter asked if we were going to the theatre and we told him yes. He took our order after being there 10-15 minutes. Our reservations were for 6 pm and we expected to be finished with dinner by 7 pm, as how it is with most restaurants. 6:45 rolled around and we still hadn't received our food. We asked and were told they would be up in a few minutes. We received our food just before 7 pm. We scarfed our dinner down so we wouldn't be late and then still had to track down our waiter to get the check. We were very disappointed with the service. If you are going to dinner there before going to Sac Broadway, you may want to make reservations at 5 pm since they take so long to get you food to you.

Not a place to go if you’re on a schedule. They take forever. Didn’t even get greeted for almost 15 minutes. And then they greeted the table next to me who had been sat 5-10 minutes after me. I had to stop the server and ask if he was also my server. He was nice enough. But then he had to come retake our order because they were out of everything we ordered. Food then took forever to come out. But it was good when it got there.

Service was exceptional, especially on a busy night before a broadway show. Food was fine - I got the Thai skirt steak salad and it was ok - steak was decently flavored but a little overcooked, the salad had more iceberg lettuce than spinach and had a lot of dressing on it. It was also served deconstructed which was an interesting choice. Don’t think I’d order that again specifically, but large menu with other options to try in the future. My partner enjoyed her buffalo chicken wrap and would order that again. Great full bar with zero proof mocktail options too.

Really enjoyed our shared lunch of a delicious sandwich with grilled veggies, fresh spinach, tomato, asparagus and breaded oyster mushrooms and a yummy bowl of chili with pintos, tomatoes, cheese in a smokey chipotle broth.

I appreciated that after a late reservation (for outside), the host kept his eyes open and offered us a table inside shortly after we were seated. The food is good, conversation good and the price was right. Nice meal!

Great brunch experience at Capitol Garage. Fantastic service by Sydney. Loved the bottomless mimosas, they kept your glass full Cute vibe and brunch was good. Great place to come before a show at Safe Performing Arts. We will be back to try dinner. Noise level higher than normal but not distracting and part of the fun vibe. Recommend it!

Our server was great, he was very personable and a lot of fun. The food was good, the drinks were good, but it was really loud inside. We had a party of 6 and I couldn’t hear the people on the other side of the table.

Great selection of different foods. Very tasty! Smaller, cozy atmosphere with great draft beers and full bar. Would definitely go back especially since so close to the theatre arts center.
