Traditional meets modern in this new age Caribbean cuisine restaurant brought you by Chef Tavel Bristol-Joseph of E&R Hospitality Group.

Named after the Canje pheasant, national bird of Guyana, Canje pulls inspiration not just from mainland Guyana, but from Jamaica to Puerto Rico, and all the islands in between. Our menu explores the cooking techniques, ingredients, and many expressions of vibrant food across the region.

Tucked away on the east side of Austin, this lively environment brings a unique cocktail program boasting both spirit forward and fruit driven cocktails and a small selection of natural wines alongside our inventive food menu.

Canje was phenomenal as always. Service was a bit slower than usual which was surprising. The pacing of the orders was correct and felt right, however when the entrees came out for the table the jerk chicken was delayed a bit, and then the second order of rice took a bit longer than we would’ve liked. Otherwise, everything was phenomenal.

So happy I was able to experience Canje. Insanely delicious food and cocktails. But the service is absolutely next level. Will definitely come back next time I’m in town

Outstanding family-style meal. Jerk Chicken with the Roti and curry was so good. The albacore ceviche and taro chip combination was unreal, and the cassaveep ice cream was delicious and so unique. Asked for refills on the taro chips and curry and waitstaff was so hospitable and attentive. We even got a nice extra bit of ice cream for our anniversary. Would highly recommend and will be returning!

Canje is our current favorite restaurant in Austin. The staff is super friendly and attentive, playlist is always on point, and the food is incredible. Upscale, homey Caribbean with Texas-inspired ingredients. The wagyu beef curry dish paired with 2 roti breads is the top dish for my wife and I to share. Jerk chicken is great, as long as you like spice! We tried the fire roasted cabbage for the first time which was awesome. I haven't found a dish that wasn't amazing. We plan to be regulars here!

This was our second time dining at Canje. We love everything we have tried on both of our visits! Delicious and flavorful! The service is excellent. They really go the extra mile!

Ethnic authenticity. Loved all the variety of sauces and flavors. Nice staff. I was even offered a blanket to toss across my lap because I mentioned feeling cool. Example of attentive, gracious staff.

The food is always amazing. I love it every time I go here. The timing of the food coming out is pretty incredible. The Roti and the oxtail beef patties are always an amazing side. The jerk chicken is amazing and I always have to get it everytime I go here

Incredible food with incredible service. Went here for a birthday dinner and it was such a delight. No wonder it’s becoming known as the best restaurant in Austin. 10/10 no notes!

We ordered the cabbage, escabeche, ceviche, tile fish, and jerk chicken. And the bread, which was exquisite. I don't think the prices were out of control. The food was excellent and waitstaff kind and attentive. I would most certainly go back!

Such a great menu of Caribbean flavors. All of the dishes are savory and you can tell they take a lot of care and pride in the product they're putting out. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Music is great. Energetic environment.

The food at Canje was a very good. It is worth trying! The atmosphere is very noisy and the service was a little slow. We had to ask someone to check on our initial drink order. We had decided that Austin in general has a more laid-back, take your time attitude for service than we are used to expecting. With that said, we would return to Canje for the food!! The roti and jerk chicken were especially delicious!

Staff is super knowledgeable about all the food, my sister has a tree nut allergy and they were able to list what could be modified to accommodate us. The roti and pepper pot are such a good combo!

My dear friend suggested we go here for a nice meal and I’m so glad we did! Everything was amazing and the service from Vincent and the whole team was top notch!! It’s my birthday this week and everyone was so nice to give me happy wishes! I’m still thinking about how delicious the wild boar pepper pot, the roti, the smoked avocado dish, and the pineapple dish was today. The desserts are a must too. I recommend all of them! Thanks for the lovely evening, y’all! See ya again soon.
