Unique experience. The staff was great and the overall experience was worth trying, once. Most food was good, but with dietary restrictions the experience fell a little short. It seemed that some of the dishes were an afterthought and just had omissions of certain ingredients rather than a more thoughtful attempt. A little disappointing after waiting 7 months to dine there. Would still recommend to others because it was a fun and unique evening.

The son was our host and told endless poor taste, over rehearsed jokes or stories with every course that tainted the whole experience for my group. “That will hopefully be the best meat you put in your mouth tonight.” White wines served warm. Not enough time to chat between courses with guests because host keeps talking and telling crass stories. Out of 12 courses 3 were good 3 were decent and 6 were underwhelming. Glad we went so we can say we did, but we won’t be returning.

For the price we paid we were all disappointed. Food was overstated and way too sweet. Not one bite was memorable. The host was loud, talked the whole time and told inappropriate jokes. Wine was not good. Feel like we were robbed.

This was our first experience at candle in the woods, and let me tell you, it was the most amazing dinner experience we’ve ever had! Not only is the setting wonderful, the host and chef were very personable and humorous throughout the dinner. The food itself was so amazing, every course was wonderful we had 13 in all that evening. We opted to not do many of the wine pairings, my husband did beer instead and I had some seltzer spritzers as I’m not a wine drinker. But what we had was amazing! The service staff and cook staff were all very wonderful, it was so nice to see. They are training of the future generations in the culinary industry. It was a very cool experience to be seated family style with other strangers and really get an intimate high end gourmet meal. While it is a little on the expensive side, it is worth the money! We loved Chef Dave and his son, we will be going back! Our valentines dinner was the best we’ve ever had.

Easily the best dining experience I've ever had. My wife and I have been to a variety of restaurants and I've traveled internationally many times and enjoyed plenty of excellent food. We spent some time in Las Vegas during restaurant week and ate some of the biggest name restaurants and enjoyed their food and wine pairings and that didn't "hold a candle" to what we experienced here. The food was amazing and adventurous with wine pairings that were spot on. The dining wasn't pretentious and made it very accessible for everyone from the farmer raised on steak and potatoes to the world class elite. I promise you'll be hard pressed to find anything better even at Michelin star rated restaurants.

Very unique experience, with the best service and best food I have ever had. I went outside of my box, and so glad I got to try different dishes that normally I would not eat. Everything was so good, pure culinary delight from start to finish. All the wines were expertly paired with the meal. You will experience amazing food, a great atmosphere, meet new friends, and learn a lot about wine! I highly recommend Candle in the Woods!

It’s definitely a once in a lifetime experience. The dinner is like a play to get to enjoy with 15 other people. You come as strangers but with the restaurants structured performance you quickly mingle together and start talking. Great food and delicious wine. It’s not a full glass but you’re also going through 15+ tasting throughout the evening.

This dining experience was AMAZE-Balls!!! We will recommend to anyone and everyone… we will be back! (In fact, we have a reservation to take my daughter and son-in-law to experience Candle!) Food and wine pairings are out of this world!! So much fun and laughter! Best date night ever with my hubby of 36 years!

Amazing time and phenomenal food! Have eaten wonderful meals around the globe and this dining experience was easily in the top 3. The blending of flavors and textures was superb and the wine pairings were perfect. Pricey but worth every penny. Looking forward to dining there again.

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would give it 100! This place is fun and elegant all at the same time. The staff truly makes you feel like family. This experience was a bucket list item we didn't know we needed to be on the list. We will definitely be talking about this forever and plan to be back with other friends and family so they can experience this!

Booked this a year in advance for my husband's birthday, he was ecstatic when he found out! It was all he expected and as he's quoted "the best meal of my life"! We hope to go again some time too. I do not drink and and the entire staff was very kind and helpful with ensuring I was provided anything else I wanted, even though I only wanted plain water:). I requested no lemon in my water on my request message and the staff even came up during service to ask to see if it was an allergy or a like/dislike to ensure our safety, it was a nice extra touch(there was lemon in a later course). Chef Dave truly puts a lot of effort into entertaining his dinners and making everyone happy and we look forward to dining here again in the future.

Food was good, as close as you can get in this area to an upscale (Michelin like) restaurant. Wine choices were okay, more on the inexpensive side. On the other hand, the owner puts a cheap show the whole evening, which makes it a weird experience. The whole evening is about him and how great he is, not about the customers. Too bad the quality of the food is not matched by the quality of the service. High end food with rural Idaho level of wine and customer service.

Very happy with the whole experience. When I looked at the menu prior to going, I was hoping for more meat. Not a fan of sea food. Having said that I happily enjoyed everything that was served! Outstanding. This is an experience you will want to share with family and friends. Food was amazing and the Chef David kept us entertained.

The whole evening, including the food, was absolutely remarkable. Loved the ambience. The food was delectable. The service was superb. I immensely enjoyed the whole experience. The most unenjoyable dining experience I’ve ever had. We went on a night the owner, Chef Dave, wasn’t there and maybe if he had been it would have been different. The evening we had left us feeling swindled. Some of the reasons why: - Picked up in a limo with seats taped together and a dangling broken handle - Greeted by the owner’s son explaining how he is unqualified for the job as his only experience was running music in a club in CA, how the owner did not know how to cook before opening the restaurant, and how they got in trouble from the health department when they used to serve dinner in the basement of their home. We should have known then to leave - Off-color jokes from the son about how much he drank and how he doesn’t know about wine - It was clear FOH had no knowledge of wine. One was only described as “good” repeatedly and when a guest asked it was, she read the winery’s name off the label -Wine wasn’t paired well, oxidation was apparent, and old vintages weren’t aged well. Definitely not “fine wine” as advertised - Calling the foil cutter a ‘circumciser’ then blurting out a Hebrew phrase - cringe! - FOH over and over called our utensils “cocaine spoons” - Son made multiple references to himself and the two other female FOH staff as a ‘throuple’ - it was so uncomfortable - Food was mediocre - not terrible but the atmosphere didn’t allow us to enjoy it - Most of the time FOH was simply listing accolades, awards, and bragging about how great they were - Ended with the men’s room flooding For the money, I expected a fine dining experience but it felt like we were in someone’s house while the parents were away and the kids were playing ‘restaurant.” I still haven’t processed the nightmare. We drove 5 hours for what we expected to be a special and enjoyable night. We are sick to our stomachs that we chose to go to Candle. For the price we paid we feel completely bamboozled. What a racket and utter disappointment.

Lively and entertaining establishment. It's more than just a tasting menu, but a very interactive chef/owner and staff. A cheerful place and atmosphere. The staff's energy make is a joyful experience.
