Camden Spit & Larder, a modern London-inspired eatery, in Downtown Sacramento on Capitol Mall. Mostly a good experience for our first visit to CL&S. Though we don't usually eat this early, we had just finished a donor event at the Crocker, so we made a reservation for 5:00. Our meal was good. My girlfriend loved her lamb shanks. My pasta dish was good but not very hot. Shortly before 6:30, after our meal and as we were finishing our wine, we were told we needed to vacate our table immediately and move to the bar to make way for another reservation - even though another table for 2 was still vacant next to our table. Staff was friendly in letting us know, but that still damaged the experience of a relaxing dinner. If you need us to limit our time at dinner, you should probably let us know in advance (or give us more two minutes' notice of the need to vacate our table), or direct us to a table that won't be in any immediate demand.

Overall, a delightful dinner experience. At first glance the menu seemed limited, but the preparation and taste of everything was excellent. The padta entrusted was freshly made and very creatively flavorful. The halibut had a sauce to die for. The wine by the glass Cabernet Sauvigon was a good value and had excellent flavor. And the dessert decadently awesome. The ambiance both inside and outside was urbane and welcoming.

It was my partner’s birthday and I wanted a place for a special occasion. The service we experienced was AMAZING, from everyone we had contact with including the people who cleared our table, filled our water glasses and the hostess. But I especially want to say Brooke our server was OUTSTANDING . Brooke was personable, paid attention to detail and was just a delight. Brooke recommend excellent dishes and made my partner’s birthday a lovely event. We loved the Happy Birthday menus and Brooke even let us bring one home. The cute chocolate piece on our dessert that said happy birthday and the candle was a fantastic touch. We came to Sacramento for a celebratory experience and Camden Spit and Larder especially Brooke hit the ball out of the park. We know the next time we come to visit we will be stopping here again. Thank you!

Server Maddie was delightful and allowed us to linger over our drinks and order when we were ready, Food was good and she was helpful when we had food decisions to make. Not noisy !!! Pleasant dining experience.!!

Had lunch with a friend. We both had the soup special and the simple salad with chicken. The soup was delicious, as was the very generous salad. Plan on returning.

Best meal I’ve had in 5 years. Everything tasted perfectly delicious. The food was well seasoned, comforting and beautifully presented. The chef must have put a lot of thoughts into every component of the dishes. Even the mushroom on the New York steak was to die for. The service was also the best we had in years. Everybody we encountered was genuinely nice, patient and tentative. The service crew was also very professional. They magically showed up whenever you need them. My quiet teenager repeatably expressed his happiness about the food and service during the meal. Thank goodness that the next generation still feels about things. I’m so grateful to this meal.

We went for our 11th anniversary and upon being seated they gave us free champagne and our menus were printed to say “happy 11th anniversary “. It was really kind and we appreciated it. The service was kind of slow but we went when it was just opening so it may have been that they were just warming up. The food was delicious and we will definitely be back. The only downside was parking was only validated for an hour and since service was slow we had to pay for parking but it was at a discounted rate.

Amazing attention and service. Very kind and answered all questions. Food was great and presented nicely. Sticky toffee pudding was way too sweet with all the syrup. Would have been better if they left the syrup to pour at our own discretion. Otherwise a surreal experience.

The meal started off with the popovers and our starters. We had the mussels, a dozen oysters, asparagus salad, and dirty fries. All the appetizers were good, really good, except for the fries. The description sounded better on the menu than the execution. The entrees were solid. We had the prime rib, halibut, and lamb shank. All protein was cooked well and the accompaniments with the lamb were tatsty and paired well

Great Easter Brunch at Camden Spit & Larder. Chef Oliver, had a great prix fix menu. For the starters wife had the smoked salmon crochet and I had the deviled eggs. Both dishes were prepared well and were delicious. For the mains, wife had the crab cake Benedict with grilled spring asparagus and I had the burger with fries. Both fishes were excellent. Burger was messy good. Forgot to mention, the meal started with a basket of freshly baked pastries. Service was excellent as always. One of our favorite restaurants in the city. It’s a must try for all readers.

Get the farm cheese! Super fresh, in-season vegetables. And the sticky toffee pudding… yum. Staff was super friendly. We ordered their recommendations and were not disappointed. We were headed to a Kings game and the location was perfect; just a block away from Golden 1 arena. We will definitely be back.

Always a fantastic choice for dinner or any meal! Oliver and his team are absolutely fabulous! The handmade pasta special is always amazing and you can’t beat the English Meat Pie!! The popovers and sausage rolls are also a favorite! Not to mention if you are in the mood for a burger you can’t go wrong. Amazing food and great service!!

I came into the area for work and after searching for places that checked our boxes, I found Camden Spit and Larder. I wanted good food and drinks, vegetarian and vegan for my sister in law and fish dishes for my brother who can’t eat red meat anymore. CS&L didn’t disappoint and was wonderful. We made it for the last bit of happy hour … eat the deviled eggs… and then had dinner. Wonderful place, great food and cocktails, great service… We couldn’t have asked for anything more!

We had two couple and the service was fast and detailed and the server really knew her dishes (by heart). The food was fresh and tasty. I had the sea bass and beet salad and everyone had rave reviews.

One of my favorite restaurants in Sacramento. We all have bad days, luckily the foods was still great, with the exception of the oysters which appeared to be thrown on the tray, no utensils either. Service was the worst I’ve experienced there, long wait time to order drinks, took our food before we were finished, missing utensils, etc. there appeared to be a birthday party in the large room next door, and I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that this was the main cause.

The food was mediocre at best. And crazily overpriced. The drinks…..suffice to say what I ordered was not what I got. Very unappealing drinks. We had asked early on what the dessert was and they gave us a list, but nobody ever came back at any point in time and asked if we wanted to order dessert ….so we gave up. When we were ready to pay our bill, nobody came by . we waited and waited and waited with our credit card on the table and finally had to Hail down Staff to take our credit card. The wait staff seemed far more interested in each other than in any of the customers. I won’t be back.

We had not been here in 2 years because last time the service was bad. Decided to give it a try again. Food was good, lots of choices on the menu. We tried the oysters and Caesar salad. The mains were great as well- had the pasta special, the vegetarian polenta and salmon. Everything was delicious. The negative experience came from the service again. Our waitress was MIA most of the evening. Other staff dropped off the food and bolted. No check in to see how things were. We wanted to order a bottle of wine to have with our meal but nobody ever came back to our table so never was ordered. Oh well, we’ll save our $$ and I guess less tip for the server. All in all, I would say we left feeling lukewarm about our experience. For the price I think we’ll go to Ella’s where the service is much better.

The sea bass lacked flavor and was overcooked. My significant other had the salmon and his was overcooked as well and lacked flavor. Don’t order the fish, I’ve had other great meals there.
