Calle Dão is designed to pay homage to Havana's once-thriving El Barrio Chino (Chinatown). Known as the largest such community in Latin America, El Barrio Chino occupied 44 square blocks of real estate in the late 1870s. As the Cuban and Chinese cultures mixed, a unique fusion of cuisine emerged. Today, El Barrio Chino occupies a small section of the narrow Calle Cuchillo - Knife Street - from which Calle Dão takes its name. The cuisine, cocktails, and décor of Calle Dão strive to transport our guests back to El Barrio Chino when it was at the height of its existence. Calle Dão has created mouthwatering dishes seamlessly blending Cuban staples with Asian flavors. The cocktails, created by Mixologist Joy Daniel, also meld the old world with the new using historical names for libations with modern ingredients. 1857 is a bold sip of orange-infused vodka, amaretto, fresh lime juice, ground ginger, and sesame oil garnished with star anise. It commemorates the year the first ship carrying Chinese laborers arrived in Cuba. Calle Dáo's décor, the creation of its owner Marco Britti (Favela Cubana), is reminiscent of a sultry, old-world Havana restaurant with white-washed walls, distressed wood, and whirring ceiling fans. Chinese artwork, spices, and bright colors provide the accents. Step into a bygone era and enjoy a modern dining experience at Calle Dão.

We had the restaurant week menu, which was a great way to try some of the most popular dishes, including cuban egg rolls and fried rice. 4.75 stars for the food overall. Excellent service!

The restaurant had a great blend of Cuban and Chinese decor, creating a unique atmosphere. The food was delicious, with standout dishes like the Cuban fried rice and perfectly cooked sweet plantains. The molten lava cake was rich and decadent, and the build-your-own buns with pork belly were a must-try. The $45 three-course dinner during restaurant week was a great deal. The service was excellent, with attentive and friendly staff ensuring a great dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning to try more of their tasty offerings.

We came in for restaurant week and chose an appetizer and entree for the lunch special. Everything was delicious. My friend’s sandwich was cold when it came out and it was quickly resolved and we were offered complimentary dessert. Will definitely come again to try the rest of the menu

Such a great find, my daughters and I did the restaurant week special so we were able to have a bit of a lot on the menu, such good food! And the drink during happy hour delicious and reasonably priced. Was a great evening! The wait staff was amazing, kind, not pushy. But was fast when we mentioned we needed to get to a concert. Def will be back!

The food was quite good. Appetizers were excellent. Found 1 entre (noodle, brisket) a bit spicier than expected. Nice size portions. The music was lots of fun but a bit loud considering the place was not full. Interesting décor. Excellent service.

Food was OK. We went for the NYC Restaurant Week promotion. The air conditioning was not working and we practically had to *beg* for ice for our water to cool down. Our waitperson had very poor communication skills, and wasn't attentive to us after we got our food. This is one of the growing number of restaurants that brings around a machine to charge payment for the bill, which means the waitperson stands there while the customer is deciding on a gratuity.
