Calle Dão is designed to pay homage to Havana's once-thriving El Barrio Chino (Chinatown). Known as the largest such community in Latin America, El Barrio Chino occupied 44 square blocks of real estate in the late 1870s. As the Cuban and Chinese cultures mixed, a unique fusion of cuisine emerged. Today, El Barrio Chino occupies a small section of the narrow Calle Cuchillo - Knife Street - from which Calle Dão takes its name. The cuisine, cocktails, and décor of Calle Dão strive to transport our guests back to El Barrio Chino when it was at the height of its existence. Calle Dão has created mouthwatering dishes seamlessly blending Cuban staples with Asian flavors. The cocktails, created by Mixologist Joy Daniel, also meld the old world with the new using historical names for libations with modern ingredients. 1857 is a bold sip of orange-infused vodka, amaretto, fresh lime juice, ground ginger, and sesame oil garnished with star anise. It commemorates the year the first ship carrying Chinese laborers arrived in Cuba. Calle Dáo's décor, the creation of its owner Marco Britti (Favela Cubana), is reminiscent of a sultry, old-world Havana restaurant with white-washed walls, distressed wood, and whirring ceiling fans. Chinese artwork, spices, and bright colors provide the accents. Step into a bygone era and enjoy a modern dining experience at Calle Dão.

Food and drinks were amazing! Def recommend it for that. The prices are fair but the waiter was very absent, we had a hard time placing a second drink order and getting the check.

We had a delicious dinner last night at Calle Dao. The cocktails were great. I loved my mojito! The food was creative and flavorful. Lots of options for every dietary need. The portion sizes were great for sharing - plenty of food without being overwhelming. The staff was incredibly efficient and friendly. The atmosphere was inviting and lively. We would definitely come again!

The brunch menu is not as ample as that for dinner, but is more than adequate. The food is of consistently high quality. Service is impeccable.

Great cocktails, friendly accommodating service, and tasty dishes…portions not large, but enjoyed everything ordered (steamed shrimp wontons, tofu stir-fry, and yucca fries). Colorful decor and very lively atmosphere, especially one large party in back that was very loud, but server/host were kind to shift us to another table.

Exceeded my expectations. My wife is Cuban and was impressed. Excellent blend of Cuban and Asian dishes. Ropa Vieja Noodles were excellent as were the Egg Rolls. Will definitely be coming here again.

My friend and I came for restaurant week and it was a really good deal! And the food is really good. However the waiter charged me an extra $4 to change the liquor on the revolución cocktail from tequila to mezcal. $4 is crazy and he didn’t even let me know there would be an up charge (which I would’ve been fine with but like TELL ME). My friend ordered the mojito and he brought up Bacardi and she just assumed they were already using Bacardi and he charged her an extra $2 when no one but the waiter brought up Bacardi. I understand the push to sell up when serving tables but also I wouldn’t be writing this long review if I didn’t feel like he should have been more honest and diligent about the upcharges. Also when closing out the check he was hovering above my friend and staring at the screen of the toast tablet and she felt pressured to leave a better tip lol. So awkward. The ropa vieja noodles are insane though like the food is GOOD though so it wasn’t a terrible experience I just felt played.

Another amazing happy hour experience at Calle Dao. Fantastic food and cocktails combined with warm and friendly service and an eclectic crowd makes this Cuban Chinese fusion a must Chelsea destination. Loved Friday happy hour so much we went back for Sunday brunch!

Love this place!! Food is unique, fresh and delicious and the service was very good. Atmosphere is summery and definitely Cuban-inspired. It's colorful and homey, but not too much, and the lighting and ambiance were great for the senses. Can't say enough good things about Calle Dao!

I have already been to the Bryant Park location before but this was a lot more lively and great for a large party! They had an available reservation for 10 people on such short notice and have one of the best bottomless brunch options I have ever tried!

Staff was very nice, food was good. Drinks were very good as well. We don’t drink much, so we didn’t get the 90 min bottomless brunch, but at about $25 per person it’s a pretty good deal if your table plans on having more than a drink or two each. I’d recommend it as a pretty casual date spot for a nice Sunday brunch.

We let them know in advance that we were celebrating the engagement of our daughter. Our future son-in-law let us know he would be proposing that day. They took really good care of us. We were seated right away and the food was delicious!

I had my birthday dinner here and it was fabulous!! Amazing staff and gorgeous ambiance. Everyone loved their food and the drinks were delicious. Would definitely recommend for larger groups and events. We had a great private dining area and amazing service.

Fun place for brunch but make sure you check their times because the bottomless drinks ends at a specific time. My meal was great, but some of the apps and other members meat meals weren’t great. Definitely a fun time for a group of friends

Have been to Calle Dao many times and recommend it all the time. It’s the best bottomless deal in the city and the food is great. Service was lovely but the waiters were definitely overwhelmed saying how busy it was (which it really wasn’t). We had to ask for every single drink and only received three drinks in an hour and a half which is completely unreasonable. Never did anyone come and ask us for refills and we sat empty forever. I have never experienced this there before so I would go back but a few more staff is really needed so the waiters aren’t over worked and can’t keep up with their guests. The waiters themselves are so sweet and hard working and if anything we felt bad as if we were inconveniencing them because we could see how hard they were hustling to take care of everyone. But food as always was great too!

My yes (on recommending the place) is decidedly cautious. This is a thoroughly charming place, and the service was outstanding -- as were the pork dumplings we started with. Our main dishes, however, were less good. The skirt steak was supposed to have been seasoned with 5-spice, which would have been an interesting touch if the flavor had been at all noticeable. The real disappointment, however, was the pulled duck breast (dry and flavorless) fried rice. The rice had a nice assortment of veggies, but no seasoning to speak of and hinted of having sat in the pan too long. In each case, the attempt to combine asian and latin flavors - what we were looking forward to - failed.

My friends and I had brunch on a Saturday. Between all 8 of us, I think we had every appetizer and a good number of the brunch specials (plus a Cuban sandwich--because why not??). The Bloody Mary was just okay, but everything else was delish. Standouts: oxtail croquetas, 5 spice skirt steak and eggs, and the Cubano.

It was the second time I came. I spent again a great time. Music was nice, and the food delicious! I will come back next time i come back to the city.

When the staff greets you like a longtime customer and you have a terrific waiter, Andres, who makes great recommendations, how can you not have a great time?! The food is Cuban/Chinese fusion with a great history and oh so delicioso! (omg the ceviche and the yucca fries and the dessert and the dips and... yes, I took home the hot sauce)! One member of our party raved above the mojito (the presentation was amazing) and one raved about the Chilean red wine! The rest were too busy enjoying their drinks to give input. Suffice it to say the birthday celebration was wonderful and we are making plans to return soon!
