This is one of my favorite places in Santa Monica. Love the food, the ambience, the attentive service, and the warm and welcoming hospitality. We celebrated my husband’s birthday and they made the entire experience absolutely seamless and perfect! The hosts were kind enough to offer us a choice of tables, and our server Ramiro made sure we had the best time ever! He was so warm, gracious, and attentive and surprised us with a lovely complimentary birthday dessert. All the food was spectacular, and we just loved the laidback vibe and chill energy and beauty of Calabra. Thank you to the entire staff for making us feel so welcome and special! We will be back again soon! Thank you Ramiro for your excellent service!

What is up with the 12% wellness fee? You need to start letting people know about this when they make their reservations. This was a surprise - is it even OPTIONAL? I do not agree with this as we tip very fairly at 20%.

It was our first time on Mother’s Day weekend so it’s obviously busy. The ambiance is nice . Food is mediocre and pricey for the quality of food. There’s not much selection. I would have gone to Kings and Queens - you will be full and enjoy your food and great value for your money. It is like a boutiquiah type of place . Definitely not for me and not when you have teenagers with you.

I love Calabra! The service and food is phenomenal. I love the ambience in the vibe of the whole restaurant. Even though it’s on the rooftop, they have plenty of heaters to keep you warm.

The food and service were excellent - however the automatically put a “wellness” charge on the bill. This to me is out of line and egregious. So I just subtract “the wellness charge” from the tip. What about my wellness? If it wasn’t for the wellness I’d give it 5 stars. Zero stars for whoever thought up that.

Solid spot for cool rooftop vibe with music I would describe as low-fi desert chic (lol! mean it in a positive way). Service was outstanding, super nice staff. Food was solid -- I'd say it is a good version of most mediteranean/north african spots on the westside, though very pricey (even for the westside), which merits the 4 instead of 5 stars. But would definitely come back especially for just apps and drinks.

This is a spectacular place. The food is so fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented, the ambience and decor is gorgeous, and the service is impeccable. Roberto was our server, he took excellent care of us from start to finish. We were celebrating my friend’s milestone birthday, and he let us fully enjoy, relax, and savor the moment. He coursed out our food perfectly, it felt so luxurious and not rushed at all. He ended our amazing meal with a lovely surprise dessert with a candle for the birthday girl. Top notch hospitality all around. Everyone from the hostess to Roberto and all the staff gave my friend birthday wishes and made her feel very special. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Santa Monica! Thank you for taking such great care of us Roberto!

We loved our experience! There was a wind gust that knocked my menu into my water glass, which shattered everywhere. Staff quickly cleaned up and remade all of our appis. Foot, service, staff, and vibe were fabulous!!

Our first time at the Proper Hotel in Santa Monica which makes for a beautiful entrance. This continued outdoors for lunch on a warm, breezy afternoon. The Mezze was excellent as was the friendly, efficient service. Overall a high end feeling to this experience.

FANTASTIC time at Calabra! The food was diversified and flavourful and the ambiance was awesome! HIGH recommendation for a group (we had 9 for a Birthday party) or friends or a date night. (*we got the wagu tamahawk - amazing. the salmon tartar was revered as one of the best dishes of the night. the mezze plate was perfect). Sadly, I can't give a bazillion points bc our service, though super friendly and wonderful was insanely delayed for our drinks. Maybe worth considering having additional staff at the bar? Or someone who is responsible for water?? Not sure, but it was quite disappointing for our guests - that's it though. We loved it and will be back for SURE! ☺️

The vibes at this place are always spot on and the service is great but this place is such a rip off. Drinks here START at $22, and if you order off menu they’ll up charge you for “premium liquor” even if you didn’t ask for it. Ordered a dirty gin martini last night, $27. Went with 2 friends, we shared 3 small appetizers, we each got two drinks, and the bill was over $300 after tip.

Good place to hang with friends. Food is great. Some of the seating isn’t ideal for eating dishes. Service needs to improve; very slow and inattentive; I had to chase my waiter down for my check.

We has sophisticated guests from New York and everyone absolutely loved it. The only down side was it was cold and the restaurant is in the roof of The Proper hotel. Regardless of being cold the maitre d happily provided us with blankets and all was good. Great food, great people watching , highly recommended.

Sat me in a hidden area not even at a table on some couch with a a low coffee table. Completely forgot I was there never checked on us had to get up multiple times and find the waiter to get more water and bring the check.

I had the worst restaurant experience at Calabra. We arrived about 30 minutes early for our reservation, so we sat at the bar for a drink. A bartender took our drink order and then promptly forgot about us. It took us 30 MINUTES to receive our Espresso Martini and Gin Blossom. Not to mention the Gin Blossom did not even have any alcohol and we had to ask for a new one. After we got seated it took 50 MINUTES for us to receive our Smoked Chili Roasted Chicken and Pan Seared Salmon. 50 minutes for chicken and salmon ANYWHERE is unacceptable. But at this price point I expected much better service. If you’re going to charge $25 for a drink and ~$50 for an entree, it should at least arrive on time. During the 2 and 1/2 hours we were there, the service staff only came to our table about 3 times. And two of those were because I flagged one of the hosts/servers down. Overall, this was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant and I will be telling everyone I know to never eat here, no matter what. We would’ve had a much better time just eating at the lounge in lobby of the hotel.
