Café Sbisa, established in 1899 and the third oldest fine-dining establishment in the French Quarter, is proud to re-open under the direction of a new team to once again offer the highest quality French-Creole cuisine in a welcoming, historical setting that both locals and tourists will appreciate. Spearheading the new Café Sbisa are Mr. Craig Napoli, who successfully ran the notable restaurant from 1992 - 2005 when Hurricane Katrina devastated the city, and Chef Alfred Singleton, who met Craig when he started working for him at the former Café Sbisa as a prep cook.

Now, the unique venue will once again open its doors to serve classic local fare like Turtle Soup, Louisiana Blue Crab Cakes and BBQ Shrimp using the freshest, locally-sourced seafood and produce. While many restaurants tout “fresh and local”, Sbisa means it, as the Napoli family owns their own seafood dock and distribution business in Hopedale, Louisiana.

Great service and attentiveness especially considering that staff had to go up and down the stairs. The live band was a special treat.

We were early for our reservation but seated at a romantic table by the kitchen where I was able to look through the door where the magic happens. Sean did his best to serve us even though there was a big party upstairs. So the bar was taxed. It’s Jazz Fest y’all! He made it right with a Lagniappe cocktail. Thanks!

Food was awful. Gumbo and Turtle soup were tasteless. Do not order the veal and pasta, veal was like leather and the sauce was overpowered with lemon. Could not eat it thought we were going to be sick.

Enjoyed being seated out on the outside balcony on a beautiful night. Menu was a bit more limited than I had hoped (no raw bar) but the fried oysters were great and the legendary turtle soup lives up to the hype. Kind of odd to add an automatic gratuity but no big deal.

I had not been to Cafe Sbisa in years and looked forward to our dinner. We had a reservation, but the restaurant was not busy during French Quarter Festival which was a surprise. The food was good, and the service started out good. As the evening went on the service slowly eroded away. Our appetizers were served before our cocktails arrived at our table. The gumbo was very good, and I commented to our server. Our server then told us how inexpensive it is for him to purchase the gumbo for himself. This left a very sour taste, since the gumbo was a 50% mark up for a small cup that was served to me. I will not be back.

One of my top favorite restaurants in NOLA and I am...er...was a local. I moved to Lafayette but come back as often as I can. Sbisa is on my to-do list every time I come back. This trip was for French Quarter Fest, my favorite local event. we come in every year. We dined at Sbisa and Irene's this year. Both were good but Sbisa was, as we used to say growing up in NOLA, mo-betta! Do not pass on the oyster appetizer. It's fantastic. Had Caesar salad at both venues and Sbisa's was MUCH better. The wait staff is knowledgeable and attentive but not overly so. My one complaint is that the bar lacks a good bourbon selection. It's adequate but nothing high end like Weller or Stagg. That said, I will be back!

Delicious food and terrific menu choices. Service was good by the waitress we had, but the manager and the rest of the staff seemed uninterested. Finally, the restaurant was like a freezer locker. The AC was brutal and I was in a light sweater. We had to leave without dessert.

My husband and I made a reservation here for dinner. We were led seated to the balcony area and seated among 3 large party groups. It was hot and loud, and our waiter was charged with taking care of too many people. There was at least 4 empty tables of 2 directly below us on the main level. When we hadn’t even been asked for a drink order after 10 minutes, we decided to leave an go take our chances somewhere else, and found a wonderful smaller restaurant that took us right away to a lovely table. The Maitre d at Sbisa could care less that we left. Worked out for the best!

We often frequent Cafe Sbisa and they never disappoint. Chris was super attentive and sweet. The band was pretty good as well. The Eugene omelette was phenomenal!

First of all, I got there at opening and was able to meet the chef. So putting the face to such a delicious meal, elevated the experience for me! Bravo! I’ll be back for the Lamb chops!

Everything about our Sunday brunch at Cafe Sbisa was great. We were seated near the band so we could enjoy the jazz. The service and the food were first rate. The servings were big but not too big and the food was very good. Don’t forget to ask about the bottomless mimosas (we almost did).
