Classic French bistro ambience with tables set close by. Restaurant’s small patio seating area was not available yet as the weather is still cool. We booked our table on a Saturday in early April. Restaurant was 80% full and the service was efficient. Party of 6 decided to order a la carte lunch ($18-$23) rather than either the 2-course or 3-course table d’hôte ($25/$35). Everyone enjoyed their meals from the fluffy smoked salmon omelette to the croque monsieur. One person was mistakenly served salmon rather than the Arctic char which was ordered; not a big issue as the salmon was moist and delicious. We agreed that we would visit again.

Date night. At 6:30 on a Thursday the restaurant was very quiet. So, service was attentive, and the food arrived very quickly. Menu is a bit limited but if exceptional quality. Wine list is adequate and reasonably priced. Parking was no problem. Will be back for sure.

I have been to Salade de Fruits three times since there has been new ownership and I am really glad to say that the quality of food and service is as good as always. I order the steak frites every time and they have been delicious on each occasion. It is also a pleasure to speak French with two of the servers.

We used to eat at this restaurant fairly frequently. The food was good and the service simple but good (exactly what one would expect at a cafe in Paris, for example). We decided to go there for Valentine's this year and it was one of the worst meals we've ever had. Note that we were there early so the restaurant wasn't busy at all. Less than 1/3 full. The service was awful. Our server knew nothing about food or wine. We had to ask for cutlery several times and eventually grabbed it off of the next table. We had to ask twice about our drinks. We probably would have been able to overlook the poor service had the food been good. We had duck and steak. The duck was pretty good albeit small. The steak was completely charred on one side so all you taste is burnt meat. We loved their french fries in the past but that wasn't being served which was too bad. All in all, it was an extremely disappointing experience. I would not recommend this restaurant nor will we go back.

it was an amazing experience but the staff took a little loo long to take the order(the restaurant was packed), other than that the place was amazing and i would recommend it every day

This is a staple casual French restaurant in Vancouver. No fuss, but tasty authentic French cuisine. It’s been around for decades but the last year or so has changed ownership. I had gone twice after the change in ownership and had great experiences. One was take out and the other was dine-in. My dining experience last Saturday was really disappointing. The Service was terrible. It seemed like there was only one mature female server and one male buser. It has been a long time since I have had bad service so I was pretty shocked at how basic service industry standards were missed. We had to ask for waters as no one filled our glass upon arrival (we had to ask AFTER ordering our meals), typically they provide you with the black board menu to view-we ended up finding one and took a photo of it on our phone. Refills on water took a long time, waiting to get our order in took a long time. We never received a check in to ask how our food was. Our server seemed totally out of it as she didn’t remember what we had ordered when it was time to grab the bill…and then claimed she hadn’t taken our orders….but she did. So service alone was so bad! She wasn’t rude at least…more incompetent. I wish our buser was our server. The food-escargot was amazing. Never disappointed. Flavor was perfect-I just dipped our bread in that glorious butter garlic sauce. The ribeye steak was delicious. What I was looking forward to the most were their famous crispy fries…my partner had never been before and asked our server if the fries were crispy and she said “yes” and from past experiences-they’ve always been. So I was really disappointed by how white/pale (versus that nice golden color) the fries were. If they had done a check-in I would have said something. But the service was non existent. I was really disappointed because this spot was one of my safe spots for always being satisfied with my meal. But based on my recent experience, I will likely take a long break before returning.

The food was amazing as usual. The 3 course meal is a great deal with appetizer main and dessert. I love that they have all the French classics plus great steak and fish options.

A great French bistro meal. The Table d"Hote 3 course special is a great deal for the price. The food was delicious. It was a busy evening with a steady flow of diners. The wait staff were friendly and kept things moving along.

Had the mussels, frog legs and the specials, arctic char and halibut/scallops and the creme brulee. Everything was cooked perfectly! Prices are reasonable and the service was great! I would definitely come back again

We love this neighbourhood gem. Yes, gem might be a bit trite to say, but the food is great and we get the opportunity to practice our broken French. It's close by, so we can walk there, mouths watering, as we talk about what we plan to eat. The onion soup is wonderful, and the lamb chops divine. The only glitch is in getting our bill after our meal...it seemed to take forever. That said, we will return again and again.

Food was outstanding. As someone with food allergies and gluten sensitive they were incredibly helpful. There was a large selection and it turned out there was only one main dish that I couldn't eat! I would go back there any time. Highly recommended.

I’ve been to this restaurant many times and it’s never let me down. Although the servers seemed to be very busy and running they still found time to remember it was my friend’s birthday and brought us the dessert we ordered which had a lit birthday candle in it. A very nice touch. Given tne number of reservations they had, they may have arranged for one more staff member. We’ll go back to celebrate events as gain

The owners change but everything is still the same. The menu is still the same and the painting of TinTin is still there. Good quality is still amazing. You must try the mussels!

When we arrived, our table wasn't ready. So they moved some tables to create a spot for us next to the entrance in front of the restaurant. We didn't stress about it, but at the same time, odd place to be seated considering there were seats by the wall. We just assumed other reservations had those spots, but later we found it, they were not reserved. When other guests arrived, it was awkward because when servers walked by, they were close enough to bump into us. On one occasion, the server leaned back, but I anticipated his movements and avoided a collision. Unfortunately for the other table, the server had spilled something on them. The restaurant seemed more disorganized than usual that night. It's never the smoothest ship on its good days, but it seemed off compared to the four other times I dined there. We heard and saw lots of tables and chairs being dragged around during service and cutlery dropped on the ground. Our appetizer of roasted Romaine was delicious. The Ribeye I had ordered with a side of risotto came with potatoes instead, but I didn't send it back, because I forgot I had ordered it and had already started my meal after a wait. The steak was cooked medium well versus medium rare as I requested. The steak's peppercorn rub was a bit overbearing and bitter compared to the other times I've dined there. The mussels and fries were delicious. The Baked Alaska was undercooked, so we asked for a replacement of Creme Brulee where only 80% of the surface was carmelized-delicious nonetheless. We were still charged for the replacement dessert, but that was expected. Despite having a very polite server, he didn't really know the menu and had to ask his colleagues questions. Compared to similarly priced restaurants, such as Les Faux Bourgeois, the service and ambiance was not nearly as good. We noted in the reservation that our dinner was for our anniversary, but it seemed like no effort was made to make it special.
