Eclectic food and an out of the ordinary wine list are the highlights of this small restaurant. The lone waitress doubled as the bartender and made it look easy serving the 30 or so of us dining at the same time

This place is a wonderful haven in the South Austin restaurant landscape. Always fresh, tasty, with enough variety to keep me going back. The waitstaff are all nice, kind, and pleasant. I have to give a shoutout to Jessica. She's dependable, pleasant, happy to make recommendations but only when asked even when slammed. My favorite restaurant in all of Austin.

We love Cafe Malta, and go there often. We each have our favorite menu items, which we love. The service is great. Above all, we love the atmosphere and feeling of the place - we feel we're in our local place in the south of France or in Morocco.

We had family coming to town and wanted to bring them to Cafe Malta. Our party grew from 8 to 9, and they accommodated us. The out of towners had a delay, so we ordered appetizers. Cafe Malta is a hidden gem and we can't wait to go back!

This is definitely a neighborhood gem. The food was excellent, the menu interesting. For us the space was too loud, and along the walls the tables were so close together it was easy to get distracted by a neighboring tables conversation. That said we truly enjoyed our meal and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Our server seemed disengaged, hopefully that's not a normal situation for that person, otherwise the service was OK.

We dine here once a month on the 1st Monday . The food and service is always excellent. Plus, their wines are well matched and affordable. The noise level is low for we senior citizens. We actually get to enjoy our time there and not yell over the terrible Muzak that seems to be de rigor at.most hipster Austin restaurants.

A hidden gem. You would not expect such a great restaurant in a strip mall. We went for lunch. Everything tasted great and the service was fast and friendly. Outdoor seating is in front on the walkway so indoor seating has much better ambiance. Easy to access, close to the airport, and open on Mondays. Would go back!

Absolutely the best value in Central and South Texas. The food is amazing! It’s fresh, cooked perfectly, and the flavors are incredible. The cocktails are fantastic! Creative craft cocktails that made with authenticity and care. The service was impeccable! Our waiter was attentive, but not smothering, and he was helpful and kind. But what is truly amazing is the value you get. Their prices are incredibly fair you will not break the bank for a date night. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

Vegetables lasagna was delicious. Ravioli was bland but better once salt and pepper added, brisket and potatoes bland but better with salt and potatoes. Panna cotta is best desert on menu. Cubans coffee is inconsistent depending on which server prepares it but when done correctly, it’s amazing, best in town.

Underwhelmed by the entrees. Snapper was overcooked and plated over what was supposed to be risotto- which was actually more like watery rice lacking flavor. No creaminess to it which to me defines a risotto. Desserts were excellent though.

Cafe Malta has a very unique Mediterranean menu with strange but delicious dishes. It was very difficult to decide what to try. I suggest trying a number of appetizers and one main to share and order more if still hungry.

Not what it used to be. Service was very poor took at least 20 minutes to get dessert and main course wasn’t much quicker. $9 for a salad with some arugula and tiny apple slices. Beef brisket ravioli was quite good however. Glass of white wine a very small pour. Won’t be going back.

Cafe Malta does a great job creating a European ambience in a strip mall location. The decor is inviting. The food is excellent and highly varied. There were entrees with every kind of protein as well as vegetarian options. They also have gluten free pasta available. I enjoyed a gluten free pasta with ground lamb and panna cotta with basil and strawberry compote--a surprisingly delicious combination. The only down side was the inattentive service. Perhaps a server didn't show up for work that day Regardless, I would definitely go back if I were in the neighborhoo.

We visited for Valentine’s Day and it was great. There was a set menu but it did not disappoint. The wine pairings were also great. I recommend this fine restaurant for any occasion.

We started our dining experience with an order of clams. We ordered a bottle of Italian Prosecco, and then received our Honeycrisp apple salads. For entrées, we chose the snapper with risotto and the pork shoulder with polenta. Dessert was a crème brûlée. We find special reasons to dine here throughout the year!

We left hungry, disappointed, and felt it was a waste of money. I never write bad reviews but feel compelled to after last night. We have been to Café Malta several times and always considered it to be a great date place. So when my father-in-law came to town to visit, we decided to take him to see the cute atmosphere and get some good food. However, our experience was anything but that. The Service was lackluster to say the least. Every time we needed some thing we had to flag someone down, which was very strange, considering only a third of the tables were filled. They forgot part of our order, and never came to refill the water or ask how the food was tasting. If they had, we would have explained how under seasoned the food was. Actually, let me rephrase this… how the food had zero seasoning! We have had a couple of of the dishes before, the brisket ravioli and the chicken, and felt so embarrassed with my father-in-law there that we had raved about these dishes. We had to add our own salt and pepper, and even still it was bland. The only small saving grace was that the two cocktails we received were delicious. But needless to say our experience last night means that Café Malta will no longer be on our rotation list. :(

Don't know if Cafe Malta is considered a "hidden gem" but it's one of the best restaurants in Austin. Everything they serve is the first rate - cocktails, wine, appetizers, entrees, and desserts.

The meal was up to the usual standards of Cafe Malta. Good, but not bordering on greatness. It's a solid neighborhood standard. After waiting ten minutes to order, we started with the fish pate. It was very tasty, but the toast was hard and seemed to be a day old. I had the hangar steak that was ordered medium and arrived medium rare. The mustard greens were the surprise hit of the night. The steak was encased in a savory sauce that didn't resemble the promised au jus- but was a surprise hit. My companion had the pork chop special, but it was not special. The service was slow, and our waiter seemed to flit between the two tables surrounding us and never really got to serve us unless we asked. The peach cobbler serest was nice as a desert as it was slightly tart. It was not over-sweet as so many cobblers are. The main issue that we had was the noise, we could not hear our selves talk.
