Named for the island at the crossroads of the Mediterranean, Cafe Malta finds inspiration in the cuisines of Italy, southern France, Morocco, Greece and Spain, and in the Mediterranean tradition, Cafe Malta cooks seasonally and features a variety of local ingredients.

I didn't feel this was too Mediterranean -- it's like if you made American stuff at home, and just hit it with your recipes. We had the snapper and the pork chop, and both were pretty basic. Very well prepared and tasty, just no creativity. This meal could have been thrown together in a home kitchen without too much challenge. No complaints at all, but not inspiring or unique. I think we hit them on a sick call-in for the wait staff. We had to wait a considerably long time for all phases (water, refills, taking the order) because there was only one server working, and it got about 2/3 full in there. I'd recommend giving it a try, but set expectations at be patient, and enjoy the meal for what it is (American preparation of dishes from all sides of the Mediterranean).

We had never been and my wife's aversion to "cafes" didn't bode well for my selection, BUT she loved it and we had a great diner. It was spur of the moment but with online reservations, it was easy quick and the service and food made it a real treat!

A real bar that actually makes real cocktails! The menu is limited, but there are some outstanding go tos. The best appetizer in the world is Cafe Malta’s Crostini. Just get it. Or get 4 orders to be your dinner. The go to entrees for me are the L’amfette, a lamb pasta dish that is awesome (drink the remaining jus after you eat every last scrap of lamb and pasta), and if you’re ready for a big hearty meal, the Brisket Ravioli. Texas, meet Rome.

Food is good, but menu is limited. Cuisine not particularly Mediterranean. Last time we were there, place was nearly full and noisy. Bar is limited.

We have a group that eats here on the first Monday of each month. They have yet to disappoint. Jessica is a rock star. If you've not eaten at this Austin gem you are missing out!

We had reservations for the Tour de Forks, exploring foods from other countries. Everything was delicious, and it’s such a great value.

Excellent on everything...except when busy it gets so loud it is difficult to hold a conversation. But it's so good at everything else I will be back often. Especially for Tour de Forks.
