This restaurant was recommend to meet a few clients here and none of us were disappointed. The service and food was all excellent. Yes, there are some alluring servers there but also the retro steak house ambiance and food was surpassed my expectations. Our server, "Linnea" was very attentive and made some great recommendations. Hope that she is acknowledged by the management team. Recommend The Butcher Shop and will definitely return to enjoy another meal here!

First visit here in a couple of years, food was good, veggies were a little should I say cool in temp, my prime rib was good but I have had better, my wife had the salmon very good. The restaurant still looks the same as it did years ago, cozy inside and really no dress code from what I saw coming in. Our server Ashley was excellent and very cordial, made sure everything was right and knew the dishes. Would I return, yes.

Tried Butcher Block for the first time it was good, but not great. I was a little surprised at the outfits that the waitresses were wearing. The food overall was good but the bill was $202.47 for 2 people. I doubt we will be back anytime soon.

An amazing thing happened to my husband and I last night. We went to the Butcher Shop to celebrate my husbands birthday ( this was both of our first time there)and after our meal our waitresses came to us and told us that a gentleman who had been sitting across from us paid for our meal. The man never said a word to us and left before we were done eating. His generous gesture was so heartwarming and touching! The service and food was amazing, my only complaint is that the waitresses mini skirts were immodest.

Food was very good but my salad was prepared wrong, had to redo, out lobster Mac n cheese came with no lobster, had to fix, and my wife ordered well done filet that was pink and had to go back on grill. Waitress was a little slow, other wait staff were very good.

We went out for a romantic dinner to celebrate our 7th anniversary. They did not disappoint! Champagne, shrimp cocktails, prime rib and lamb chops with a delicious Cabernet! Our waiter, Julian, and all of the staff were welcoming and gracious. We plan to return many times! A rare bit of old world charm and fine dining in Kearny Mesa. Recommend strongly!

We went for Easter Brunch and the set up was very basic and the $95 price tag did not include Mimosas which I thought at this price point would. The Champagne selection was very limited too. I had a wonderful Omelette and the salads were very good, I wasn’t very hungry after that. None of the desserts were gluten free so that wasn’t an option for me to try any of them. The set up was very sad looking, no Easter decor or flowers or anything to make it look like a special holiday. The food really didn’t look inviting or appetizing, some food items were unidentifiable as no signs or food descriptions were listed on the dishes. You would have to lift each lid to try and figure out what items were there. The Resturant was empty, only one other table in the large dining room. We had to walk past a private room to access the food area past a private group. Felt kinda like a soup kitchen. So much could be done to upgrade this brunch experience. Our waitress Trinity was the star of the experience, all the staff were professional and friendly. This was my first time visiting this Resturant and possibly the last. With so many other options I doubt we will return.

Excellent prime rib, with mashed potatoes & Caesar salad. We ordered the creamed spinach which was also very good. The service was excellent. The only thing we did not like were the ridiculous outfits worn by the waitresses, and the background music which was mostly 60’s. My father owned a hotel with a restaurant, bar, and ballrooms back in the late 60’s, and while the fixtures were very similar, the outfits and music are definitely not.

Very expensive for the experience. Our most recent visit we were seated In a front room that was much less pleasant than the back room we had been seated before. Noise from the hostess stand was distracting, including the telephone on speaker. In our booth it felt like we were sitting under spotlights. Food was good but nothing any of the 4 of us had was outstanding besides the garlic confit.

We had a very good birthday dinner. Our server was great. She kind of disappeared on us for a bit, but turned out that she was getting my husband’s birthday dessert ready. The food was very good and the sides were huge.

Ordered the dry-aged NY strip, was almost the worst steak I’ve ever had. Super dry and tough. Wife ordered the salmon which was overcooked. Potato wedges were undercooked. Waitress was all over the place and inattentive at best. Spent way too much money to get a meal that I would’ve been happier going to Applebees.

For the prices, food and service should have been much better. Most of the menu is a la carte read expensive. My MIL’s vegetables were hard not cooked. Service took forever and we never got garlic bread even after asking for it. The waitresses wear the most ridiculous outfits with low low necklines and weird high skirts. They look like they should be in roller skates at the car hop.

Ashlee B always goes above and beyond to make our dining experience a treat. Three of us got the surf and Turf special and the steak and lobster were both cooked perfectly. Everything was top notch!!!!

Everything about the experience tonight was almost perfect, the only thing was that my steak was undercooked(as for medium and got medium rare) but everything else was fantastic. I would definitely recommend it to everyone and I would definitely come back. JC was our server and she was excellent.

The scallops were awesome, the tenderloin not so much. The glaze was a little bitter and whoever cooked it, didn't do it medium like I asked. The inner part of the cubes was more rare than medium. If I were to do it all over again, I would order the scallops, like my wife. I'm still drooling over them. Strange that they didn't bring us any bread. I had to order their garlic cheesebread. It was really good. Service was great. She was very attentive.

Trinity is hands down one of the finest servers in the world. The 29oz. lobster tail was nothing less than spectacular. We enjoy every visit.

First time here and was impressed! Food portion was good. We sat in room next to bar therefore it was loud and we had to yell across the table. Only compliant was that food came out warm versus hot. However taste and service compensated for that.

A real San Diego classic. Always excellent! We ordered a beautiful ribeye and all the extras.. it was perfect! Service was fantastic as well. I recommend the butcher shop without hesitation!

Food and service were outstanding. Kind of loud in the bar area but lots of diners so not much can be done about. Had one of the best prime rib sandwiches I’ve ever had. It also was huge.

Over priced steak that does not match the quality of the price. The drinks were awful. Sent drinks back twice and steak. I will not be back. Wanted to get out and try something different. Next time I will go to Flemings. As they are consistent

New owner and everything is now ala carte, except prime rib dinners. We had ribeye and filet. Both were disappointing- tough and tasteless. We wont be back.

While our steaks are à la carte, many dishes include sides like our Prime rib, pork chop, lamb chops, salmon, etc, and our portions for our sides are very generous. We regret the ribeye and filet didn't meet expectations, often this can be addressed with the temperature they are cooked at, which we are always happy to fix. Had an excellent prime rib Valentine’s Day dinner. Everything was delicious—salad, loaded potato, garlic bread, prime rib with extra horseradish. Great service. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
