The food was exceptional. The service was great. I personally had the shrimp scampi and it was delicious, that being said, everyone in our party loved what they ordered. It can get very pricey, but you won’t regret it.

We were seated quickly, we did have a reservations. The food was great, its ala carte so it adds up quickly. We went for mothers day & they had a mothers day special menu option which was great. Our server was nice and didnt linger or bother us. Our appetizer came out with our entrees which wasnt great but that was the only “bad” thing that happened.

The food was delicious. I had the crème brûlée, and it was the best crème brûlée I have ever had. The overall ambience doesn't quite fit with the cuisine. The lighting was a bit harsh, but we went for the food. That was crackerjack!!

We had a great time at this restaurant, we loved all the food we ordered and we were celebrating my son’s birthday so they put a sparkler in some ice cream which he absolutely loved!

The food was amazing and thats what we came for. The service was good but seats are situated where waiters have to constantly walk by or trough you where you feel them keep bumping you when they walk bye or when new people are being seated. Also its very noisy in there but that is mainly because all the customers but i do wish there was a way to wash out the noise. Once again seared scallops and the braised short rib were fabulous ad the service was wonderful as well so other than location of seat and noise i have no complaints. definitely will return. So much more on the menu for us to try.

We enjoyed our Mother’s Day eve dinner during our first visit to Butcher & Barrel! Your staff was courteous and kind. We were given a choice of seating and our server greeted us immediately!! Our drinks, appetizer, entrees and dessert were delicious!! Your General Manager also stopped by to ensure our satisfaction!!! We will be back!!!!! Thank you from the Witherspoons.

My wife and I came for lunch and, being 70 years old, we were very pleased with the fact it wasn't crowded. Our server, Ken?, was fabulous. Fun, helpful and attentive, he provided a great experience. Got to meet the owner and General Manager. The whole lunch was just great. I am a Prime Rib Sandwich guy. Meat and bread. No cheese or onions. I went to B&B because of their Prime Rib Sandwich. This sandwich ranks in the top two on my list. Thinly sliced and completely lean the prime rib was excellent. Bread was good, nothing special, but soft and paired really well with the meat with just the right texture to absorb the Au Jus, which wasn't too salty, a common problem for most dip sandwich providers. That is just the sandwich. Their french fries are also some of the best around, seriously. Golden brown on the outside, hot soft and tender on the inside. Perfect with the sandwich. All in all, we totally enjoyed it and will definitely come back. By the way, we don't drink, but their wine and bourbon list alone is worth the visit. My wife and I really enjoyed our lunch.

My family and I were thoroughly impressed by the exceptional service and flexibility of the staff. Despite one of the menu items being unavailable, the team went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining . What truly set this dining experience apart was the speed at which the staff handled the situation. Despite the unexpected hiccup, our food arrived promptly. Throughout the meal, the staff remained attentive and ensured that our needs were met without being intrusive. Their professionalism and dedication to customer satisfaction were evident in every interaction. From the moment I walked in to the moment I left, I felt valued as a guest. Their ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances and provide top-notch service sets them apart from the rest. As a person who works personally in this industry, I highly recommend eating at this establishment.

Although the service was friendly, it wasn’t very efficient. Had to ask for our sides, coffee, water, etc. service was pretty mediocre. Unbelievably, we couldn’t get a cup of coffee or a decaf coffee after lunch… They were only serving espresso? The steak on my salad was actually cold, not even warmed clearly it was not freshly cooked. The prime rib sandwich was very good as was the braised short ribs.

Food was absolutely delicious and drinks were amazing!!! Maybe my favorite Espresso Martini I’ve found in Sac yet! Great service and cool vibe! Highly recommend!

Food was very good and reasonably priced for our lunch entrees. Waitress friendly and knowledgeable. Gem of a restaurant, location a little sketchy, bit that's what you get downtown Sac.

Our first visit was okay, the Fried Chicken Sand was dry and tasteless, food all okay otherwise. Service was good, Antonio was friendly. Drinks very good. Overall, food pricey for the offered fare.

Bone marrow butter was fantastic with the bread. Salmon and steak were great. Drinks were delicious. Chocolate tart was also incredible.

Such a great first time for a bday dinner. The food was amazing. They even lit a fun sparkly candle with the dessert to celebrate the bday Will be back!!

Service was horrible. We had to ask for someone to take a drink order and bring water after 10 minutes. We ordered bread and had to ask for it again. She never came back to check in our food. We had to ask for the bill. I won’t come back based on service. Tomahawk was delicious but I spent too much money to not get decent service.

The cocktails, service and ambience was good as expected, so we were off to a good start. Good wine selection. This was a business dinner so we booked off positive reviews. Two guests ordered the signature $70 ribeye. Both were extremely disappointed to the poor cut and quality. Very fatty. The waiter recognized this and took one of the meals off the bill. Two guests ordered the halibut. Good quality fish, but, the sauce they used was a sweet Asian dipping sauce used for egg rolls and overpowered the flavor of the fish. Overall, the food quality doesn’t warrant the price. Think twice if the meal is to impress a client or for a special occasion.

Visiting this restaurant was an absolute delight, especially in terms of the service provided. The service here is nothing short of excellent. It was a pleasant surprise when the general manager made their way to our table, ensuring that everything was to our satisfaction. As for the food, it was simply amazing. The freshness and quality of the dishes are commendable, making this establishment stand out among steakhouses. It is definitely one of the top steakhouses, if not the very best in Sacramento. The entire experience was memorable, and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience.

The waiter was great, but two of us in our party ordered steak. I ordered medium rare and the other medium. They both came out medium well done / well done. We had them remake the steak and they turned out the same.

It was all great until the end and I spilled my drink all over the bill and the pay machine...the owner didn't seem very happy with me. But up until that point, it was awesome.

The staff was lovely, as well as the General Manager Michael. He addressed my meal issue appropriately. Nice atmosphere, they may consider putting up some type of partition to conceal the bus station just for aesthetics.

With so many Farn to Fork options in Sacramento this restaurant is awful. They specialize in steaks but their chef is more like a cook they brought from TGIF. The peppercorn sauce was poured on the steak like a bowl of soup. The steak was well overcooked telling me the cook doesn’t know what they’re doing. The steak was taken back to correct it but it came back the same. I asked for medium but it came out well done. The side of vegetables is like a frozen bag of steamed veggies. I was overall appalled because Sacramento has forced all the awful restaurants out over the years. These owner/investors need to go back to square one otherwise this location is going to have a strike three real quick.

Great spot before a play, game, or concrete downtown. Great menu choices and fun cocktails. It is a bit loud but energetic.
