Located in Encinitas, this location boasts a indoor seating as well as an outside patio and a small room for private events. Inside, a gilded oven churns out classic creations, while the main kitchen serves up chef-driven pastas and entree dishes. Owner Matteo Cattaneo brought the Italian warehouse-style eatery to life.

We just moved into the neighborhood and were so pleased with the food, service, atmosphere, everything about Buona Forchetta. The food and our server were both exceptional. We will be back.

We loved our dinner here!! The gluten free margherita pizza was the best pizza I’ve ever had- gluten free and otherwise! Food came out extremely fast for how crowded it was on a Saturday night. My husband and I had an 8:00 reservation, ordered within a few minutes of being seated, and had completed and paid for our meal by 8:30 which shocked us both! The indoor tables are very tightly packed and the volume level was extremely high which made it hard to carry on a real conversation but because we were there primarily for the food we didn’t mind too much- just something to keep in mind depending on your dining occasion. If we lived in the area we’d definitely add this in to our regular favorites rotation!

Server was really sweet, but that's where the positive ends. Bread on table was stale and had to be replaced. Salads, Pizza, and entrees all showed up at once. They put onions on my food even though I told them I was allergic. On the side stuff never showed up. One member of our party did not want his entree with his salad, so they took it back and PUT IT UNDER THE HEAT LAMP! Husband's gnocchi didn't make sense and looked like the sauce was mustard. (It wasn't, but did not appeal in appearance). Really salty. Whole experience was not good, although we did enjoy the time with friends. Why eat here when there is a great new Italian place down the street (Osteria Tavi) with great food, service, and prices. And really good options in downtown Encinitas.

It seems this restaurant has gone downhill. Have dined here only 3 times--twice before covid and once this week. Our most recent visit was to celebrate a birthday (mentioned in reservation), but they stuck us at a table right next to dishwashing station which was very loud and unpleasant. They did move us when we requested (why they didn't give us a better table--with a reservation stating a special event--in the first place, I don't know). Service: OK. Took a while to get a server to come take drink orders but after that it was pretty attentive. Food: this is the most disappointing part. I remember thinking the food here was amazing, but not this time. Mussels tasted strange--very briny, salad was overdressed (very vinegary), pizza came out cold (they did take it back and bring out a new one). Overall it was not the dining experience I was hoping for based on my previous experiences. Maybe it was an off night and we just got unlucky, because i know many people who still love Buona Forchetta.

I’m a huge fan of the pizza, pasta and appetizers at Buona Forchetta. My husband and I spend a couple weeks a year in the Encinitas area and we always return for a dinner. Wonderful specials in addition to their regular menu.
