The Morton family opened the first Brigantine on Shelter Island in 1969, with a vision that embraced the beach town lifestyle, a dedication to flavorful food, and a passion for friendly service.

Started with no silverware and then had to ask for napkins. Took over 60 minutes for our food to be served, many excuses of prom and graduation time, server told us best to come on a Monday or Tuesday when it’s not so busy! Food was cold when we finally got served. Never got refills on beverages and water. Overall very disappointing! Will not be back anytime soon.

Celebrating our daughter's masters graduation and I put a note on my reservation about why we were coming to the restaurant. From the minute we walked in the door they made her feel special congratulating her, provided us a lovely table, the waitress congratulated her (so the message was passesd along to everyone that we encountered - super great touch) and then the provided her a complimentary dessert of her choice. I could not have ask for more! Beautiful view, great staff and good food!

Service and food were top notch. Really enjoyed the spicy margarita with the hint of cucumber. Crème brûlée was a nice finish.

We stopped for lunch on a week day. Made a reservation for patio 5 days ahead. We were taken to a table in the doorway while other tables (half the patio) were empty. Finally after questioning the hostess several we were given another table. Of note, one side of the patio remained empty. Poor management. We ordered a French dip sandwich and a lump crab cake. Neither one should have left the kitchen. Crab cake had no seasoning at all and was just mush. The French dip bun was smashed and had been soaked in au jus until it fell apart. We won’t be returning anytime soon. Sorry we wasted our afternoon.

We have eaten here many times and always had a great experience so we will probably try it again but was very disappointed on this trip. We had a party of 5, 2 people got specials and they weren't good. Service was very slow - seemed to be understaffed.

This was our fist time eating at Brigantine at Portside Pier. We have a location closer to were we live but we went to the one on the pier because it was Mother's Day. We ordered two starters, oysters on the half shell and calamari. The oysters were fine but the calamari was soggy and the aioli sauce has a strange film on it. Between the four entrees we ordered the ahi was over cooked, the macadamia nut crusted mahi-mahi was soggy and flavorless. The swordfish dinner was completely bland and the orzo was like mush. Our little one ordered grilled shrimp with fries which both were cold. The only thing good was one of the three desserts we ordered which was the cheesecake. I had high hopes for this restaurant being Mother's Day. If I ever found myself down by the pier again, I would only consider this location for cocktails on the water.

We celebrated Mother’s Day here at Brigantine Downtown San Diego. We finished all the food that we ordered! We ordered Lobster Tempura Tacos, Fried Calamari, Wagyu Burger and Three Oyster Baked! We will come back again

The wife and i went on Mother’s day figured it would be a hectic day to go out, but the employees were very organized and we had our table with 5 minutes to spare, we ordered clam chowder which was hot and tasty, full of clams and creamy as expected. The wife had the charred octopus, fish and chips, the octopus was delicious along with the fish was crispy, meat was full of flavor and the fries were made perfect. Our server Rob was tenacious and told us of the days specials. I had the steak and lobster, which was cooked to perfection. The steak was juicy, tasty and soft like melted butter. Awesome Mother’s day experience. Thank You

We have eaten here in the past and it was fine but we went Mother's Day and it was an experience where we won't come here again. It is not their fault we had to park 1.2 miles away and my husband had to walk but we are seniors in our 70's and without asking if the table was ok the girl sat me outside at a small table in the shade. I did request a water patio view but we had previously eaten on the big patio. I didn't even know there was a line up of tiny tables in the shade. I was so cold and had to ask for the above heater to be turned on. I had calamari and was surprised at how tough and chewy it was. We each ordered the fish tacos. The cold slaw was in the tacos and a big serving on the plate and neither of us touched it. It tasted pretty blah and awful. We felt like where we were sitting we were an afterthought for service and we were placed where the door banged right behind my husband's head every time a guest or server walked out. A loud bang plus a gust of air each time that was cold. I had made reservations April 10 so that should have been enough time to not put us old people at the afterthought worst table. 2 taco plates with two tacos and cold slaw and some potato chips and a paltry calamari very chewy came to over $70. Very disappointed. The waiter said if I was so cold I should have asked to be sat somewhere else but it was Mother's Day and they were booked solid so I just endured shivering the whole meal. It is took bad because we are regulars at the embarcadero restaurants. Our waiter was nice and even brought us a free dessert. I don't want to be ungrateful but the food was just not up to par. We left most of our meal on our plates and when we left we stopped to get a pizza to go near our house that saved the day and our appetites.

Thank you Taylor for your bubbly personality!!! although the Calamari was a little chewy ( We have eaten at the Brig many times and have never experienced this) overall it is still one of my favorite places to eat!!!

Food was excellent as was the service. The main menu items were a bit overpriced, but I would go again. Great ambience. We sat outside and watched the Disney cruise prepare to embark on their cruise.

Very nice location as far as a water view, however the food was average at best. Pricing made sense for the location but in my opinion there are better options for the money with less tourists.

The food was delicious and the drinks were spot on. I can't get over how well-trained and kind our waitress was. My other half asked for a dirty martini with blue cheese olives. The waitress advised us that there weren't any and that she would make them herself. The whole staff went above and beyond for out Anniversary. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

Sat outside facing the water on a Sunday evening - 6:30pm-8:00pm April. Chose this time so we could watch the sunset! It's one of the best spots in San Diego - to see the boats going by, the cruise ships leaving the port, and just - the ambiance of a waterfront resaturant at it's finest. The experience is one of a kind. The service is excellent - as usual - and the food - is amazing. Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi is my favorite - and the Lobster Tempura Tacos!!! We celebrated a birthday and the water brought a wonderful creme brulee with a candle - nice touch! The outside seating has heaters - and it's a little noisy here because everyone is having so much fun!

We decided to go to the restaurant last minute and booked a reservation. We enjoy the ambiance there since it's on the harbor by the water. We had a small issue with 2 sets of the utensils being dirty but our server replaced them quickly so not a big deal. The food was great and so was our server. We also ordered the dessert (bread pudding) and it was ok had it been served warm with the ice cream on top, that would have been perfect but it was room temp so not a fan.
