Brasero, a South American term for a grill's fire box, is born of Chef John Manion's love for the live-fire cooking of Brazil that captured his imagination as an eight-year-old living in San Paolo. Brasero brings bold, wood-fired Latin cooking to West Town’s bustling restaurant row. This sultry 120-seater draws inspiration from across Latin America, honed through Manion’s decades of experience. Think flame-roasted, whole young chickens slicked with garlic-chili oil, linquiça with mojo de ajo, and moqueca teeming with mussels, shrimp and coconut-scented rice—all washed down with quenching caipirinhas and locally brewed, Latin-inspired beer. The wine list leans fresh and playful, focusing on low-intervention pours from up-and-coming winemakers in South and Central America.

The food, drinks and ambience of brasero was great! We did experience some delays in the beginning of our meal with it taking ~30 min to get our first drink but our server (Dante, who’s awesome!) gave us a complimentary dessert which might have been both our fav things of the night! Overall, I would definitely go back and suggest others to try it out too.

The juice isn't really worth the squeeze. It's very good but you can get the same or similar for $100 less

Girls night at Brasero was everything. Food is out of this world! Our server Lu, was amazing and very helpful with our wine pairings. I am absolutely obsessed and cannot wait to be back.

Every food item arrived to the table lukewarm and lacked flavor. All the food was one note. I never left a restaurant without my leftovers until today, which is unfortunate because I barely ate any of it since it was not appetizing. Such a disappointment when I really wanted to love it.

I’ve been here a couple times w/ friends. The space is beautiful, food is fantastic, and everyone is friendly. I’m so glad to have them in the neighborhood!

It was an amazing experience. The service was exceptional. The food was very good. The drinks were great. Loved that I don't drink and the server. Made a non-alcoholic drink that was so good. Very nice. I will be back.

Highly recommend Brasero! We went to celebrate a birthday and service, ambience, and food was excellent. We probably ordered one dish too many, but everything was delicious.

Love the decor and ambiance Brasero provides. Hostess was super welcoming. Food presentation was beautiful and flavorful. Little itty bitty cocktail for large price tag. Staff is nice but maybe too attentive - we were asked like 5 times if they could clear our plates with food still on them. At some point the waiter kept asking if we need anything with reassurance that there was no rush - probably would’ve been better to just let us be than interrupt us so many times.

What an amazing surprise! My husband and I agreed that we'd bail in this restaurant if it was as sketchy as the neighborhood (we don't know Chicago at all). When we opened the door, we were transported into a beautiful space, filled with great music, young people, fabulous, attentive service, fabulous drinks, delicious food, and terrific desserts. We will return on our next visit to try the tempting dishes we had to pass up. Go! Go out of your way.
