Very poor hosting job . Three tables were empty by the window the whole time we were there and the hostess said they were reserved so as we had reservation, no explanation and approach was very abrupt and not friendly We order from hot hour and the food quality was very, very poor the burger we had it clicked so much water from the patty, and you could tell it was frozen and nothing fresh. The bun was so old and flaky. It was a waste of our money the waitress by the time she came back to check on us, the food was done that we left more than 20% overall The experience was not good and the quality is very poor

We came to enjoy the food and harbor view and were disappointed in both accounts. The food was hit and miss. The fried cauliflower was delicious, tuna tataki so-so, pork lettuce wraps yum, fried chicken bowl blah, dessert small and average. There was also a huge yacht parked right beside restaurant so we only had a side view of harbor. For the cost, it was a disappointing experience.

Excellent food and service. Was happy to see halibut back on the menu but preferred the miso version. Still very good dish.

Wonderful experience overall. Service was outstanding. We had a new server in training. She did a great job! Our Dinners were great. One note: We booked this restaurant specifically for the evening view. However, there was a 90ft boat parked in front that blocked the ENTIRE view. While a very nice boat…. It did diminish our enjoyment of this restaurant. Hats off to the service!!!

Our first visit to this restaurant. I am only rating this as 4 star because our waterfront restaurant experience was nonexistent because the marina allows a huge super yacht to moor right in front of the restaurant which meant we looked at the ship’s hull instead of the inner harbour. Our server, Johanna was amazing and the food and drink were delicious.

Food was fantastic, however, we booked a reservation and were seated right beside the washrooms and exit while there were open tables elsewhere. We booked this restaurant as it was on the harbour, but we did not get to see the harbour from our table. As it was our first time there and we were celebrating our honeymoon, we would have liked to be seated at a nicer table.

Can’t beat the location and the views. Service was prompt and excellent. Food was tasty and hot. And pricing is excellent considering the market. Really enjoyed it. It will always go back.

We eat here often. Everything is great. I just wish they would make the pesto for the verdura pizza without garlic. They have made it garlic free in the past. The tomato substitute is just not as good.

The atmosphere and the staff were lovely. We were seated by the window with an absolutely gorgeous view. The issue was the food, it was very poorly cooked and absolutely tiny portions for what we paid.

We had a reservation and they were running late. No problem. The staff was very nice but whatever system they used to get drinks was horrible. It took so long to get our drinks. Finally got a table and once again so long to get our cocktails. Food was ok. My husband’s pizza was flavorless. He had asked for Parmesan cheese was done with the pizza before he got it. It did’nt help that the 2 men sitting next to us was so loud and using the F word in every sentence( not the restaurants fault). We couldn’t even hear our self’s talk because they were so loud. Overall nice ambience, nice staff, but the rest was subpar.

We came in for a birthday weekend away and we came in for lunch. Let me tell you,.. It was absolutely amazing! The host was so sweet, the ladies on bar absolutely nailed every drink and our server Alex… you would be lucky to have her serve you! She honestly made our experience there so much more than expected and we will be returning next time we’re in Victoria if not tomorrow before we go!!

Nice table, lovely view, friendly staff throughout. The food was good. We had cauliflower bites appetizer and the halibut dinner. All very good. No dessert for us as we were full!

Good happy hour menu. The ambiance, view and service were excellent. Prices were okay. We ordered the salad greens, meatballs and margherita pizza, and Chocolate Caramel Brownie Bliss to share for dessert. The salad and meatballs were good. Pizza was so so. Basically a thin crust with some sauce and melted cheese and a few leaves of fresh basil. Wouldn't bother with the pizza again. The Brownie Bliss dessert was delicious and decadent, but very sparse. 5 tiny little squares of brownie and a few dollops of chocolate mousse. Not much to share between 3 people. Although, it was enough for us after our shared appies.

Server didn’t explain to us about the special that evening. So much wasted food.

Boom and Batten never disappoints. They made us, and our friends (who had traveled quite a distance) feel very special. They knew that our lunch was an important get together. Our server, Siobhan was a gem. She gave us time to visit so that we never felt rushed, but was perfectly attuned to our needs. The food was wonderful. I always have the Prawn Pesto Pizzette. It is consistently great! The fish and chips were beautifully presented. The one piece option was a healthy size. Our friends shared a delicious salad and a pizza. Both tasted as good as they looked. The incredible view of the harbour with planes taking off and landing, the ferry and various boats showcases Victoria perfectly. On our way out we picked up some decadent sweets to take home. It couldn’t have been better!

Boom + Batten is one of our go-tos for our date nights. The ambience is great, the food is always good, great cocktails. We started with oysters and gin martinis - fantastic start. The martini was very well made and the oysters were the best we’d had in a while. We had steaks for our main course, the tenderloin was good. Our server, Jonathan, was great - the good service elevated the whole experience. Jonathan was well versed in wine knowledge and brought out samples for us to try. We’d request to have him serve us in the future. Jonathan recommended the cafe dessert which was a delicious end to the meal. Overall a great experience!

So happy that our request for a quieter table was respected . Waiter efficient helpful and fun. After our meal and while still lingering a person came to table interrupted us and curtly asked if we wanted “anything removed from our table” huh? Disconcerting and the tone was so abrupt we felt hurried along. Not good. What was good were our meals. I had the gnocchi and added mushrooms. Yum!

We had a lovely lunch with beautiful views at our cushioned booth. Staff were courteous, friendly and attentive. Our server was knowledgeable about the dishes and was able to give me thorough and accurate recommendations. It was the best falafel bowl/salad I've had. Great presentation and was packed with flavour and the right mix of texture.

Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any disabled parking near the restaurant. I had to drop my husband off as close as i could, then park a distance away on a different street.

Great view, good service, excellent food. The vegan options are good but there could be a few more - tofu is good with almost anything.

I had the eggs Benny but found the English muffin very hard to cut into. I noticed this before. Also I asked for medium to hard egg and the egg was very runny. I’m sorry to complain but perhaps if You know, it can be better the next time. The side salad was ALL lettuce…what is up with that? All lettuce isn’t a salad.

Boom and Batten is a reliable place to go if you want a great Victoria experience. We had a business visitor and came here because we wanted to go somewhere unique to Victoria, had a good menu, provided a harbour view, and was reliable for service... we were not disappointed. I rated the value as "Good" because it is good value. We do come here two or three times a year. I'll be back again, and I would recommend Boom and Batten in a heartbeat.

We were disappointed in Boom + Batten in the last couple of times were visited- food not up to expectations and uneven staffing. BUT we decided to try again for an important birthday. We have always enjoyed the ambience but our experience last evening was also excellent. Right from greeting and seating to paying and departure, service was timely, friendly, knowledgeable and engaged. The food from appies through mains was excellent both in plating and eating. Wine choice and the Empress 75 cocktail were also just right Well done!
