It was a Sunday but there was no roast dinner which is why we went. No one informed us beforehand that roast was not in the menu. It was packed and there were queues out the door to order food. No table service available for people that had reserved. Menu was limited and we ended up with a ploughman’s that arrived with half the plate missing. It cost just under £70 for what was very average food for 3 people. Lovely location.

A basic lunch, not the dining experience I expected. Noisy, crowded, very limited lunch menu. Staff non attentive, brought the food over then not seen again. Food is ordered and paid for in advance, customer goes to the counter to order and pay up front just like in a pub. In the past dining at the Boatyard was a treat, lovely food, varied menu, relaxing ambience. It was my husbands birthday, which I mentioned when booking but this was not acknowledged in any way. Altogether an average, underwhelming dining experience. Don't bother, we will not be going back.

Staff always helpful friendly and pleased to see you. Menu varied and food always well presented. We had open fish finger sandwich and chips, fish and chips and vegan roasted vegetable tart and side salad and chips. Lovely views over the river Stour. Can’t wait for the summer to sit outside. Look forward to our next visit when we’re next up in Suffolk. Thank you!

Disappointed that ran out of option I wanted for lunch, not a lot of choice but what we did have was very nice. Sat inside which was lovely and staff helpful.

Three out of four meals were good but the G/F egg-free fish and chips had very little fish and an unpleasant taste. Admittedly, this was not mentioned to staff at the time to avoid embarrassment on the occasion.

I had asked for a quiet table with easy access for a person with a wheelchair and that’s exactly what we had which was brilliant. Food was great, plenty of it and delicious.

I took my elderly Grandmother and the experience could not have been more perfect. From the moment we walked through the door the staff were attentive and amenable to our needs; particular cutlery, seating with the best view of the river, additional items not on the menu! My grandmother felt so spoilt and particularly enjoyed watching the world go by on the river, such a special place. She has asked to come back next month. Thanks all for making it so much easier to eat out with a grandparent with dementia x

Sign says wait to be seated, waited, no one came so went up to the deli counter to speak with staff. Showed to table, given a menu half of which had breakfast options on which weren’t applicable at the time of our reservation, only 4 options for lunch I can recall. We were the only table in one section, right by the walkway and our plates never got cleared, nor asked if anymore drinks at all, resulted in going up to the deli counter to pay. No service at all.

Lovely breakfast. A bit pricey compared to other restaurants when you add drinks into it. However lovely atmosphere and very good staff. May need some refurbishment.

I think it was over priced £20 for a roast dinner that was like any other roast I have had else where, I thought it was a restaurant but more like a cafe, I would only pop back for a cup of tea, next time I would go to the sun Inn round the corner.

Always a great Sunday breakfast with our dog Nellie. Beautiful location, lovely staff and good local produce food. Slightly pricey but understandably so for the quality. Will try and return for a lunch or dinner in the new year.

Fish and chips: fish good; chips almost wedges. Pasta with mushrooms in cream sauce: OK but uninteresting (didn't detect any herbs - oregano, marjoram?) The service so dilatory that had I not got to my feet to speak to our waitress from time to time I suppose we might still be waiting to give our order...

Love it here. Been loads of times and it never disappoints. Food is great and the staff are amazing. They also now do table service which is even better.

Always love The Boathouse, however menu much more limited and very little choice for gluten free . Ploughman’s at £16 was a bit pricey . Staff very good and lovely restaurant with the best views but please bring back some of the food choices .

Enjoyed a very nice meal for my son’s birthday. My sons and husband had the roast which was very good and I had the burger which was a bit overdone. Good value but lacked atmosphere. Need some more Christmas decorations in the conservatory and some background music would have been nice. Otherwise very good. Staff polite and accommodating.

Good roast dinner albeit a little too much red cabbage in comparison to other vegetables. Not very busy so atmosphere was a little lacking. Table service was initially very good but became poor towards the end.

Disappointing as have been there many times. Food portions very reduced from previous visits but the queueing to give orders was ridiculous, often 14/15 in the queue and the staff really didn't seem to know what they were doing. Such a shame but I won't be returning.

Stunning location. Booked a table but no checking in service on arrival..more of an open cafe with a very long queue to order food at the counter. Nice choice of food but limited hot meal choice. Lovely staff working very hard as busy.

Went to the venue primarily to hire for an hour the rowing boats on offer at this stunning location. The car park was busy, but we did get a spot (this was 11amish). We had a coffee in the restaurant prior to the boat hire. After the boat hire, there was no 'reserved' table set aside for us (which was a little unsettling, as it is a busy restaurant - and a sunny warm day). We did get a table outside and was very happy with it. However, we did expect with a formal booking, that a table would be set aside. Also the booking did not allow to choose from inside or outside, which is a big feature for this restaurant. Also the crab salad was sold out, although it was only 12:30, which was again disappointing (wish we had tried to reserve this dish prior to the boat trip - possibly not an option)? The booking system needs to be more interactive, with special request - ie a table inside?

After a beautiful row on the river, we decided to eat at the Boathouse… Let me tell you, the Cromer Crab salad was to die for, absolutely delish, and the boat house burger was excellent. £17 each and with a coffee & a Coke it was a £40 lunch ~ but we both really enjoyed it. Great day out.
