A wonderful dinner--sand dabs but first, calamari. Sand Dabs are deceptively simple and easy to get wrong. Bluewater grill got it right. Not oversauced, perfectly delicate. Servers were awesome.

Oysters lacked liqueur juice very dry. Nice fisherman’s platter, Cole slaw needs sweetness and acid. Great service from the bartender-gracias!

We dined here for our anniversary and could not have been happier. We made a reservation a few days ahead and were seated at a very nice table by the window. I had the spicey tuna with rice and my wife had the trout with almondine sauce. Both dishes were excellent, cooked just right and served with the appropriate amount of delicious sauce and vegetables. The desserts were also wonderful, especially the Key Lime Pie. The wait staff was very helpful and friendly. The noise level can get a bit high when the restaurant is full, but we did not have to raise our voices to converse. If you like good fish, this is the place to go!

Overall it’s fine. The octopus was excessively charred. The Mahi was a bit chewy. Service was ok, not spectacular, not bad. The Calamari steak is two large portions but very heavily breaded. The Misoyaki Cod was cooked nicely but was a bit light on the miso. I expected more from a specialty seafood restaurant. None of it is bad, but just very average.

Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Our drinks took too long but I don't think that was our server's fault - the bar was slow. The food was delicious and the atmosphere is charming.

One of the main reasons I selected this restaurant was the wine list posted on open table. More the half of the wine listed is not available and server never heard of.

Great food, and interesting atmosphere - right by the railroad tracks so you get train and train horn noise. Very relaxed place, was very busy on a Saturday night so service was a bit off (they were working hard, just a lot of people in the restaurant). The food portions are generous and flavors were great. Definitely going again, only drawback was really the location - Carlsbad parking is not terrible, but could be improved. Oysters on the half shell and Seared Scallops were favorite appetizers.

The overs experience was good, though the service was a bit off as it took awhile yo get service. Once the check came, I was double charged which was corrected right away. On the reservation, I specified that it was a birthday celebration ( both in notes & marked‘birthday’) however there was no mention or acknowledgement until I asked once the check was presented and was told that no one was aware. Not a big deal but a bit disappointed

We enjoyed our dining experience. Our server was excellent. We never felt rushed, actually stayed at least two hours during a busy Saturday evening. The size of booths is comfortable. We were a party of five and able to have a conversation with few interruptions. There was no problem that my sister and I shared a scallop dinner. I think the excellence of food varies on what you order. Your staff is top notched and provide for a splendid evening. Thank you, will return.

Friendly staff and terrific service. I had noted in Open Table that it was my husband’s birthday and everyone wished him a happy birthday from the time we arrived until they brought him a birthday dessert. They have a nice selection of wines and great sourdough bread. We both had the cioppino for our entree and loved it! The fish and shellfish were cooked perfectly and the tomato broth was well seasoned. Our server was a real gem! I wish I had asked for his name so I could recognize him personally. Great meal and great evening. We will be back!

Always a great meal!! Only bummer - I came for the Haddock and was told it won't be on the menu anymore. :( The cedar plank salmon was delicious, though!

First time visit here, a belated birthday lunch, so a special occasion. There were four of us, and we all agreed that our server (Tricia) was wonderful!! We really enjoyed the "Build Your Own Bellini/Mimosa" which was perfect for three of us to share. The almond crusted trout with burre blanc and caper sauce was superb, as were the Alaskan King crab legs, and shrimp & scallops pasta dish. The New York strip steak with blue cheese and grilled asparagus was perfection as well.

Noise level made it difficult to talk with my lunch partner without raising our voices. Plexiglass partitions between the booth’s would be helpful. Maybe carpet if there isn’t already carpet.

We love their sushi but for this Sunday lunch we 3 ordered from the main menu which has so many selections it was difficult to choose. Our server Danielle brought a plate of warm bread and butter to start before drinks: American Mule and Fisherman's Mary (with a large shrimp) were refreshing. A generous portion of the calamari appetizer was delicious. We really enjoyed the cajun remoulade dipping sauce. Our entrees, Baked haddock and Togarishi spiced ahi tuna (raw seared) were well prepared. We cleaned our plates and too bad ... we were too full for dessert. Danielle took very good care of us.

Took my parents and family out to a nice dinner at Bluewater Grill. The waitress was friendly and responsive. The food came out very quickly and was delicious. As a regular user of Open Table, I made my reservation with the intention of using my one of my dining rewards. However, when I tried to redeem it, the staff couldn’t get it to work. Nevertheless, the manager gave me the credit and a discount on top of it for the inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding Bluewater. I will definitely be back!
