Blade 1936 is an upscale casual modern Italian restaurant which took over the historic Blade Tribune and News Building in Oceanside. Blade 1936 features authentic Italian cuisine and wood-fired pizza. Our menu features fresh pastas, local seafood, steaks and sinful desserts. We have Vegan and Gluten Free menus.

Featuring two private dining rooms, Blade 1936 is the perfect venue for your special occasions. Our private wine room seats up to 60 guests and the Chef table seats up to 10. Our outdoor patio is perfect for dining al fresco with your pet.

The calamari was bland and rubbery. The pesto pasta is very rich and needs some acid. The mango sorbet was great and refreshing

Went there for Mother’s Day dinner. 3 course meal menu had a variety of classic Italian food specialties. The appetizers had a good selection. Main menu had great classics and we had tiramisu and chocolate cake for desserts. Exceptional overall. A great meal, nice atmosphere and great service.

We waited for a decent amount of time beyond our reservation to be seated and ended up being seated outside. Appetizers and kids good came before our drinks. A waitress dropped hot pepper flakes all over our kid’s pizza. The entrees were good - pastas and pizza. However, we’d pass on the appetizers. The octopus was chewy and fishy, the prosciutto burrata was fine, and the focaccia was very dry (and already included with the burrata-so a waste of money. The place has potential for a nicer-casual Italian spot in Oceanside, but the flustered service really killed it for us. Better descriptions of the appetizers would help too.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the food was good.The service is excellent.The ambience in the main area is fine, but the back room.It was so so noisy...terrible.... We could not have a Simple conversation at our table without hollering.

One of best seafood pastas I have ever had, and I eat this all the time. Each of the different seafoods was cooked perfectly, showing they were put in at different times to ensure none was overcooked. I am Sicilian and grew up on this stuff. They put us in the back room as I had requested that so we could have a conversation. Hostess was very accommodating and friendly. The chef came out to talk to us, and I discovered he's from the same hometown in Sicily, Bagheria, that my family is from. He was super friendly and spent time with us. A great dining experience, which I recommend to everyone`. Ron

Pizza was excellent. Nice thin crust and sauce was simple but flavorful. Pasta was cooked perfectly. Sauces were heavy and bland. Seasoning/herbs were seemingly absent. Meatballs literally tasted like balls of meat, zero flavor or seasoning. I’ve dined at Blade 1936 several times. Previously the food was excellent. The other night it just missed the mark on many levels. Service was mediocre at best on a Monday with less than half the tables occupied. The owner came around to check on us as he normally does. This is always a nice feature of the dining experience. I’ll probably return but sadly it won’t be top of my list.

The food was very good. It's nice to see appropriate portion sizes. Many restaurants have such huge portions. blade 1936 has a portion size that is just the right amount of food
