The Biltmore Bar & Grille is a modern American restaurant in Newton, MA with a longstanding history. No corporate restaurant chain or Hollywood set designer could ever recreate The Biltmore Vibe.
In 1914, the Biltmore opened and served up breakfast and brew at 7AM for the overnight crews from nearby factories. It came with a 4 lane basement bowling alley that was a local hangout for decades.
There was talk of a speakeasy during prohibition. The Biltmore was across the street from a regional rail stop and often hosted private events for dignitaries, politicians and celebrities.
Much of original brick front and interior has remained the same over the many reincarnations of this legendary bar. The original old growth wood flooring has stood up to many timeless celebrations as well. Celebrating this neighborhood legend while serving up fresh new takes on classic dishes and drinks is what The Biltmore is all about.

The Long Life salad was delicious. The waitress was quite attentive and friendly. There is a big parking lot in the back, so parking is not a problem.

Food was really awful, but since celebrating my son’s college graduation I didn’t want to make a scene. Really bad. Example: my eggs Benedict were not patched properly and were put on I toast cold English muffins. Hi Linda use sauce was supposed to be ‘chili hollandaise’ and it was barely a hollandaise sauce at all. Hummus was over spiced and unpleasant, calamari was sickeningly sweet. I still tipped 20% because the servers were super busy and I’m a nice person. This was my first time at Biltmore and I came because of recommendations on Newton Parent’s Facebook site. I feel compelled to put in a follow-up review on that site. Really awful. Do better

Biltmore is consistently good. Better than good. Brunch was really good - Huevos Rancheros. It arrived hot and well cooked. There seemed to be many good brunch choices. Our server was friendly and helpful. I have been going for years and will continue to frequent.

We went for my husband’s birthday and unfortunately they seated us at a table right next to a private event. It was so loud that we couldn’t hear each other without actually yelling. The waitress couldn’t hear us half the time. She would ask a question and then walk away before we could answer. We went to an early dinner (5:15pm! so early!) and there were lots of open tables so I have no idea why they would choose to cram us in the same corner as their event. I had the scallops and risotto which was good but for some reason smelled fishy when it first came out. The smell dissipated so I’m not really sure what had caused it. Kids had steak and fish tacos which both said were extremely bland. For drinks we had an Old Fashioned (watered down) and a Gin and Tonic (all gin). The restaurant was very efficient however and we were in and out in 45 minutes. Not really what I was hoping for but it was too loud to linger so I was happy not to have to wait around. Based on the reviews we had seen we were expecting a better overall experience. Maybe we just got them on an off day.

The menu was very interesting and exciting but, unfortunately, the execution was not as good. The cocktails, for example, were not very good (and this was shared by all 6 adults at our table who ordered different cocktails). The food was good but not great, especially for the price. Also, I regret to mention that there was a mouse running around the dining room, which we did mention to the staff.

A great spot for Mother’s Day! Kid friendly food and vibes, but lots of great options for parents and adults.

Awesome food, good service. Had a blast with the kids (ages 7-13) who had good options and loved dessert. We will be back!
