Loved the Betty's Experience, the proper tea service and the piano. Great sandwiches and more could be requested, likewise the tea. The scones were tiny however, not what I expected. Cakes were lovely but not fond of macaroons so an alternative would be good. Hence my overall rating is 4 stars not 5.

It was not worth the price....we like afternoon rea as a treat....but so so disappointed. With quantity of food. Even having extra sandwiches.

We here to celebrate my husband’s birthday. From start to finish the whole experience was wonderful. The attention to detail is amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you.

I booked this for a ‘big’ birthday and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The staff were attentive and friendly, the food and drinks were spot on and the whole ambiance was lovely. Betty’s you delivered, thank you.

I heard that this place was the place for afternoon tea, so despite a 2-hour drive to get there, I booked the Imperial suite as a treat for my wife's birthday. It was twice the price of downstairs so I was expecting something special. It is a nice room where we were shown to our table. It was a while before someone came over who was nice enough but lacked the customer care you would expect. We did not receive much service through the meal. The sandwiches were quite ordinary, cheese and ham, salmon moose on a piece of white bread, egg and cucumber. The cakes were just very sweet, the scones ok, the mini Lemon meringue was really nice. They were aware it was a birthday occasion but never asked whose birthday it was. They did send someone out with a candle stuck in a two-inch square cake as we were about to leave. All in all just really average and not special in any way.

Lovely atmosphere in the Imperial Suite with jazz pianist playing. Welcoming, not stuffy. Food fantastic as expected. Service is truly exceptional.....the staff were really attentive without being intrusive and even offered extra sandwiches for our afternoon tea. The birthday french fancy and truffles on departure were a lovely touch. Shout out to Louie in particular, who looked after us.

We recently had Afternoon Tea in the Imperial Room. We were welcomed and taken to our table, which was beautifully set. The room was beautiful and, we were serenaded by a live Pianist during the time we were there. The Afternoon Tea was delicious, and we were offered a selection of Tea's, of which I had two varieties. The Servers were lovely. I will definitely visit again, and will recommend to others.

The afternoon tea in the imperial suite on the first floor was great with excellent service, great food and lovely music. As we had not had lunch, we had additional tea and sandwiches which are provided free.

Absolutely lovely afternoon tea. Bottomless tea and coffee and bottom lunch sandwiches and cakes. Server was very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. A wonderful experience and would definitely go again and recommend.

It was absolutely wonderful ! We have been for many afternoon teas and this is up there with the best. The sandwiches were tasty and fresh , the scones were delicious and the cakes were amazing! But most of all the service was warm and friendly. We will definitely be back. Thank you

The room was full of people clearly enjoying the experience of afternoon tea at Betty’s. It is that experience what you pay for as well as the top quality food, ambience & friendly service. The pianist could be heard clearly over everyone speaking on a calm, gentle tone. A perfect treat for my daughter’s 30th & my 50th birthdays

Food was good as you'd expect but was sad to see no fondant fancy on offer. Service, Ben, was excellent. Trading on their name a bit, but with no real competition, good for them. Better actual teas elsewhere though

I've had many afternoon teas, I thought this one a little expensive for what it was, the vegan starters & sandwiches were absolutely delicious, the scones had an odd texture to them & the desserts were far too sweet, like overkill sweet. We were seen by what I imagine are senior staff wearing suits with earpieces who asked if we would like any more sandwiches, the men of the group had more & thoroughly enjoyed them. The coffee was delicious but we were only given the smallest amount of sugar between 4 people & then we were never seen to again, despite trying to get the attention of waiting staff they always walked away from us to attend other tables, we were behind the screen that hides the cups & cutlery & felt we were a bit hidden in relation to the rest of the room. Needless to say we didn't manage to get any extra coffee or sugar which was a shame. We had all been looking forward to going to Betty's but feel the whole experience over rated. Needless to say, we've done it once we won't be doing it again. Just a side note we payed £100 each to have a 3 course meal on a Pullman, a lot of money, but something we will do again & again because the whole experience surpassed itself, the attention from the waiting staff was impeccable & each & every course was perfectly made. You should try it & see how it compares.

A lovely experience. I've had afternoon tea at Betty several times before and never been disappointed however, the increase to almost £50 is a shame as we didn't feel the experience warranted that high price. We had 3 birthdays between us and wanted to do something special hence we knew we would get that from Betty's but disappointed about the price :-(

Wonderful afternoon tea @ Betty's. Staff were fantastic and the Imperial room was beautiful. The afternoon tea itself was very tasty. It's a little on the expensive side and maybe could do with being a little cheaper as I'm not sure it was worth the price.

We were served by James who was amazing and very knowledgeable. I appreciate the cost of everything is increasing but I think the cost of the afternoon tea which we had should include the cost of 1 alcoholic drink per paying guest or the cost of a soft drink. Personally for me that would have contributed to the marks I have for value and overall cost. The food was very nice. I think there should be more sandwiches laid out on the afternoon tea stand rather than having to ask for more sandwiches even though they are complimentary. I understand this will help on food not being wasted but I think even two more finger sandwiches on the initial plate would have made the difference.

Exquisite traditional afternoon tea in a beautiful setting with piano accompaniment. The attention to detail was perfection. The afternoon tea was formal whilst the atmosphere was relaxed. Loved it.

Place and food were as expected high quality service . I wanted to say a special thanks to the pianist who was excellent and by spooky coincidence played my wife's song at the time she was thinking about. My wife clapped and the pianist said that was the first time he had received applause while playing there. Go on support the pianist give them some love .

Simply splendid. Betty's Afternoon Tea in the Signature room exceeded our expectations & it was the staff who made this happen. Thier genuine kindness, empathy and anticipating our needs made our visit perfect. Pianist playing in background and white Tablecloths with silver tea sets makes it feel very special. Afternoon tea was beautifully presented and the talent of the chefs who prepared it, much appreciated. Waitress explained we could request more sandwiches, but we actually couldn't finish the ones we were given. Worthwhile booking this well ahead, so you're guaranteed a space. Queue outside is tantamount to how popular this tea room is.

We’d already booked a table which was good because there was a queue. Our waitress Karen…. What can I say? I wished we could have brought her home with us. It’s many years since I’ve experienced such good customer service. She was 10 stars. Regarding the food - it wasn’t the same as advertised on the website so we were all a bit disappointed that there was no coronation chicken. Egg and onion sandwich was ‘ok’. To be honest the sandwiches were all just ok, although you could order more. Scones were lovely. The cakes were very sweet and most of us left the chocolate one as it was too rich. It’s also very expensive. £500 for 10 of us- some of us had the champagne. The ambiance was lovely, there was a pianist which made it special. Would I return? Yes for Karen’s service, but once was enough really to say I’ve been.

In a world where we're becoming increasingly accepting of poor service, Betty's is a beautifully utopian haven of outstanding care and attention to detail. Lena was simply marvellous: Knowledgeable, informed, attentive, responsive to our conversation and wonderfully kind. Having pre-booked, our table was on the first floor in the Imperial Suite, to the left hand side my mother and partner Louise could see the entire room, and take in the ambience. In one corner close to us, was the wonderful pianist, playing a perfectly thoughtful suite of songs to accompany our afternoon tea, which comprised two 3-tier stands between four of us. We chose to have the Prosecco afternoon tea which is good value and worth considering, Working from the lower tier of sandwiches, Lena was on hand to sensitively invite us to supplement the sandwich choice with more, complementary of course. I chose the Ceylon Sapphire tea with its beautiful smooth taste and which I'll be purchasing as soon as I can. Betty's Harrogate is the epitome of how to look after customers and share the experience that has earned them countless awards, and a reputation that is recognised for its impeccable quality of food and service. Thank you Lena, and thank you to the team at Betty's for reminding us how service should be.

A lovely Afternoon Tea. Our waitress Karen, was friendly, very helpful and couldn’t have made our visit any better. The food was gorgeous and we even had seconds of the egg sandwiches.

Very disappointed with the quality of the afternoon tea. Been looking forward to the experience but what a let down.The quality of the sandwiches very poor and the bread dry. The scones where good , the portion of cream wasn’t enough for the four scones. The champagne was excellent. The fancies a very poor selection. Was it all value for money the answer is NO

The food and atmosphere where amazing but the service was shocking, no one came to see if everything was okay and when trying to get the attention of the waiter to ask for more sandwiches he just seem to walk past unaware of us. Later as we were nearly finished one of the waitresses came over and apologised as she realised no one had come over to us. We then waited 20 minutes to ask someone for the bill but again no one seemed to notice us so in the end my partner got up to ask for the bill which they seemed surprised about, we then sat for another 10 minutes and decided to go to the till to pay. Not as good as Betty’s in York and wouldn’t return.

Afternoon tea was a treat, good variety of sandwiches which were also replenished. The lightest of scones and a delicious array of cakes. Trevor our waiter was exceptional, attentive and entertaining. Nothing was too much trouble for him, he is a credit to Betty's tea room
