Berts Jazz Bar encapsulates the sleek elegance of the art deco era, complimented by the very best in live jazz, fabulous cocktails and mouth-watering food.

Transport yourself back to the Art Deco glamour of 1930’s New York and the Jazz Age in Belfast’s only dedicated Jazz bar and restaurant: Berts Bar at The Merchant Hotel. Soak up the sophisticated atmosphere and let the cool jazz melodies wash over you. A handpicked list of cocktails completes the extensive drinks selection. A French bistro style menu is complemented by an extensive wine list and, of course, exemplary service. Berts offers live jazz seven nights a week.

All table reservations are for dining purposes only, unfortunately we do not take drinks only bookings.

Please Note Live Jazz Performances for Friday & Saturday evenings are from 9pm-12pm

    Normally we have a great experience at Bert’s however thought I would try something different and went for the pork pie, received instead 2 gourmet sausage rolls, very surprised and disappointed.

    Excellent choice of menu, great service and atmosphere. The jazz lunch at Berts is a lovely experience. We will be back!

    The perfect room and decor to feel like you are back in the golden age of jazz. Our server was exceptional. Food was decent. Music was wonderful!

    wonderful welcoming staff, a nice selection of choices for prix fixe and treated to some real jazz talent from Mr Swan and Mr Trotter - we will be back ASAP

    What an evening! Lovely intimate restaurant with a great vibe. Service was outstanding, professional, unobtrusive and friendly. The food was amazing. We had the mussels and the Roquefort salad to start. Both were very tasty and perfectly seasoned. Mains were a fabulous retro chicken Condon Bleu with beurre blanc, smashed minted peas and an almost fondant potato. Himself had the pork pie with BBQ sauce, a potato gratin and creamed leeks. Deserts were a pear Tart Tatin and a chocolate crème caramel. Every morsel was outstanding, couldn't fault anything. There is a good drinks list including cocktails. If I had to have a grouse, drinks are on the pricy side but the food is value for what you get. To crown the evening there was a great Jazz band playing popular tunes with a jazz twist. Over all I would travel the 200lms just to have dinner there again. It is a great spot.

    Excellent venue, not many customers on a busy Saturday afternoon.... Great food, a little costly but I suppose you do get what you pay for.
