Beatrix is a neighborhood coffeehouse, restaurant and meeting place in Chicago’s River North, Streeterville, Fulton Market, The Loop and Oak Brook neighborhoods. The restaurant is the brainchild of Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises’ Founder Rich Melman, Executive Partner and Divisional President Marc Jacobs and Chef Partners Andrew Ashmore, Rita Dever and Susan Weaver. Really lovely Mother's Day lunch - our server Chris was funny, engaging, and knowledgeable. Portion sizes were great and the ambiance of the restaurant really added to the space. We've come before for the coffee bar + pastries, and loved our meal at the restaurant just as much!

I sat at the bar by myself and ended getting there early, around 8:30 or so and the service was slow even at that time. I waited forever to ask if I wanted anything to drink and also for my check.

We came for Mothers day yesterday 5/12/24 at 10am on time for our reservation. The empanadas were amazing I can have them pretty often. You have to get the empanadas!! The burger my husband thought was a bit dry. The waitress was very nice and sweet was very attentative and just great. She came around as much as was needed and was very chill but it felt nice talking to her. Front Desk Host guy (Blonde with glasses) was a bit snappy about my daughter being there since we had a reservation for 2 with baby but I figured she's not even 2 yet she just needs a high chair and like 4 inches worth of table to eat the scarps a baby eats. We also didn't feel like taking tables that the restaurant could use for a larger party for a tiny little space a 22 month old needs to use since it was Mothers day. I also wanted to be a bit thoughtful but hey what are you gonna do.

Overall had a great experience but my colleagues and I had a business lunch on a Tuesday at 11:45am when it was not super busy and the service was extremely slow. It took over 2 hours for the whole lunch and we had a hard time finding our waitress. Will still come back because we love Beatrix overall but the service was too slow for business lunch/meals considering it wasn’t busy. Staff is extremely nice and polite, though. Has nothing to do with their approach in service. Just being mindful of customer’s time and attentiveness.

Great happy hour dinner. The drink and burger deal are great value. Food was very good, with the exception of the grilled chicken on my salad that was pretty burnt. Fantastic service and ambiance, perfect noise level.

Service was pretty slow without our server checking in on us. We had to ask about our food on our own after over 30 minutes of waiting and not seeing our server. Then we were told our food would be out "any minute" and still waited an additional 15 minutes. It didn't seem too busy and it sounded (after hearing the tables surrounding us) like everyone's food was coming out slow. Someone else in my party saw that food had been sitting at the kitchen for pickup for a while and we even watched a table ask for their food, the server saying they'd check on it, and then going to get the same food that had been waiting on the ledge for over 10 minutes. Who knows how long it was waiting there making us think the same happened for our food. The food was good once it got to us, but given the time constraints of our schedules, we felt rushed to finish.

The bacon and my coffee were good, but my pancakes were undercooked. My friend ordered a meal and informed them that she's allergic to dairy. They still brought out hashbrowns with butter and instead of offering an alternative, they said I could eat it. I've had better food before with better service, but I probably won't be going back.

Great ambiance. A mixture of clean, fresh and modern with warming wood elements. We ate breakfast on a busy Saturday AM and the kitchen did a great job of having the food ready within 15 minutes! My guests loved the french toast: they felt it was elevated. The burrito was also a hit because it was both flavorful and plentiful on the plate. I, however, did not enjoy the kale in the “shakshouka”. I have eaten this dish numerous times and the seasoning and texture of the kale was not Mediterranean, nor enjoyable. In brief: Party of 4: 3 really enjoyed their meal. I have to add that their coffee is aromatic and wonderful. Waitress was A+ in courtesy, communication and timing.

I know Sundays are busy but we sat at our table for more than 15 minutes before anyone came by to even bring us water. We were right next to the kitchen where it was very loud. We had to ask for a kids menu three times. We were there more than 45 minutes before our food arrived, and for some reason our cold brews took ages to come after we ordered them. Lastly, my daughter had the kid's french toast which was burnt around the edges so she only ate the middle and since it was one slice that was a bummer. Overall, my husband and I really enjoyed the food, but the service was really lackluster and I don't think we'll go back.

Beatrix is a great spot for lunch or dinner. I have been here several times and have never been disappointed. The music is never too loud and the ambiance is always on point. Our waiter Jonathan was a sweetheart and even comped us cake as my friend was celebrating her birthday. Parking can be dicey at times but overall it's worth it for the experience.

The waitress was great. I recommend the guacamole as an appetizer and the chickeb Bebe as a main dish. I have celiac disease, and this place never fails to amaze me.
