Nestled on the border of Downtown and Fairfield, Bear & Joey is a neighbourhood meeting hub on Cook Street, Victoria B.C.
Our aim was to create a vibrant & spacious backdrop for people of all walks of life to gather, socialize, and enjoy wholesome food.
Morning coffee, brunch or drinks, this is our interpretation of Sydney’s café culture, by combining elevated ambiance, an interesting food & drink programme and above all, true hospitality.

, "are oIt would be nice if whoever comes to the front to seat us treats us as if we possibly had used Open Table. If they actually looked they'd see a booking for 10 o'clock and could say "Are you so and so?" "I see you would like such and such a seating arrangement." Instead of which the menus are put haphazardy, and I see no point in using Open Table.

I called to explain we were running late and asked if the table could be held. I was told on the phone and need delay would cut into my reservation time which I agreed to. Upon arrival I was sternly reminded of this we finished well ahead of the end of our reservation window and left a near empty restaurant.

Great good, decor, good value for money. Service could be more elegant in how they address guests. Been several times and although they get the job done, they lack grace. Kinda rote service TBH. Ownership is very good and incredible hosts and could teach the staff how to interact. It’s free to teach grace & elegance. The owners have it.

I love Bear and Joey for Brunch. The french toast is always amazing and the mimosas are superb My top choice for brunch in the city ( oh and there coffee is excellent)

The menu and the items have not been the same as when I first started going. It was very loud in the restaurant so much so I couldn’t hear the waitress who was serving us. They often open the door causing a cold breeze.

Made a reservation and table was ready on time. Felt rushed though as the service staff kept reminding us of the 1.5 hour time limit. We couldn't just relax and have a fun time. Food is always good. Thanks

Bear & Joey offers brunch-style dishes in a whimsical atmosphere that's easy on both the eyes and the ears. The food (and coffee) is delicious and artfully presented (we eat first with our eyes, right?). Just be prepared to walk in from wherever you can find parking.

A lovely brunch experience. Delicious food and attentive service. I will book a table again in the warmer months - their patio looks like a great spot for outdoor dining.

The food was good, the ambience was pleasant. My girlfriends and I decided to dress up really nice and have brunch. It was my first time there. The service was great up until the end. When our plates were cleared the server asked if we wanted anything else. It seemed like they were hinting that we should buy something if we wanted to stay, so I said I'll have another coffee and and friends followed suit. But just a few minutes after we got our coffees the server told us the reservation was only until 10:30. It was 10:20, so we felt really rushed to finish our coffees which we barely started drinking. The server passed by a few times looking at us which made me feel super anxious. I wondered about maybe asking for a "to go" cup but then the server just came buy and sternly said "so just the bill" and had us settle up. The restaurant wasn't even full, I wish I had known that we weren't welcome past 10:30 before I ordered my second coffee. I'm sure it said it on the reservation but truth be told I wasn't really looking at the time. I'm sure the server was just doing their job but I felt really uncomfortable and am unlikely to return. I just left feeling really weird and anxious about the whole situation.

Probably the best French toast I've ever had! And they make the best shaft cocktail in town. The holiday decor is cute as all get-out, and matches the pink and green art deco style inside. This is my favorite brunch place in Victoria, 10/10, no notes :)

As soon as I walked in I was struck by the high humidity and strong smell of kitchen exhausts, especially bacon. By the time I left, my clothes were saturated with a very unpleasant scent that lingered all day. This is not normal. Curious if you’ve ever had this feed back. Everyone who recommended you to me admitted that their visit was in the summer when the patio doors were wide open. I suggest seriously considering improving your climate control situation as it really ruined the vibe of what was otherwise a really beautiful space. Pork belly was underwhelming; bland and flavorless. The greens in the accompanying salad were some of the most lush and crisp I’ve ever had.

Bear and Joey always delights. In this lead up to Christmas it was understandably even more busy than usual. However the service was attentive and rapid (as always). And the food terrific. Highly recommended

I liked the place, the decoration and in general however I dislike a lot that we came out of the restaurant with the hair and clothes smelling like if we have been working in the kitchen. Maybe a better air ventilation can help with this issue.
