Located at the "Gateway to Southtown," the Historic and Majestic Firehouse #7 is home to Battalion. After a nearly two year renovation, "The Rock" has been restored as the crown jewel of Southtown. Overlooking the spectacular downtown cityscape and the famous Tower of Americas, Battalion's contemporary design merges perfectly alongside the historic building's strong, yet weathered 1920's craftsmanship. Chef Davis has created an extensive menu of fresh pastas, char-grilled meats, stunning vegetable dishes and Italian classics. Complimenting the menu is a comprehensive wine list and a refreshingly original cocktail program.

    The lamb was so dry and overcooked and the only thing I honestly enjoyed was the alcohol and the pear salad

    We were celebrating a birthday and multiple individuals acknowledged the occasion as well as our sever being extremely attentive and pleasant! We had the pear salad, spinach dumplings, lamp chops, eggplant ravioli, and the almond cake. We loved everything aside from the Almond cake which had an odd aftertaste. Also, we sipped on the Lemon cello and the Arsonist which were quite refreshing! ❤️

    Excellent food, and service. It was our wedding anniversary and the staff wished us a happy anniversary.. it was that little extra that made a difference.

    We have always loved Battalion but hadn’t been there in over 3 years so were excited to go again. We unfortunately were seated in the seat closest to the bar and equipment space yet the restaurant was less than half full. Our waitress did a fine job, but we were sorely disappointed in the food. The spinach dumplings, one of our faves, was a real disappointment, they shouldn’t be called dumplings any longer, but rather spinach cubes that had a dry consistency and no real pop - the previous version was MUCH better. The we also ordered the Ravioli and the Gnocchi Fagioli. Both were rather bland, but the Gnocchi was also extremely salty. Wondering if the chef/recipes have changed since the last time we dined there, but now highly unlikely we’ll ever return. = DISAPPOINTED DINERS….

    I recently dined at The Battalion Restaurant, and I must say, the experience was exceptional. The food served at this establishment is nothing short of excellent. The New York strip I ordered was cooked to perfection – tender, juicy, and seared just right. Additionally, the lamb chops were a true delight, crusted with a flavorful herb and butter seasoning that added depth to each bite. Both dishes were executed flawlessly, showcasing the chef's expertise. While the ambiance of the restaurant was a bit dim, it added to the overall intimate and cozy atmosphere. The decor was tastefully done, contributing to the overall charm of the place. Conveniently, I found parking right outside, although the price of $20 for parking was a bit steep and could be considered a downside for some. One standout dish that I tried was the green beans and tomato sauce with ricotta cheese. The combination of flavors in this dish was simply incredible, and each bite was a burst of deliciousness. I highly recommend giving this dish a try when you visit. In conclusion, I would wholeheartedly recommend The Battalion Restaurant to anyone looking for a hidden gem in Southtown. The quality of the food, the cozy ambiance, and the overall dining experience make this restaurant a must-visit. Despite the slightly pricey parking situation, the outstanding dishes and impeccable service more than make up for it. Don't miss out on this little gem of a restaurant – it's truly a culinary delight!

    My husband and I are always looking for unique restaurants and as a retired firefighter, Battalion was a hit. The food was amazing and I highly recommend the spinach dumplings. The chicken parmesan was big enough to feed 2 adults and was perfectly cooked.

    Delicious food was ruined by poor service and expensive parking! 1) My sense is that the restaurant is attempting to offer a traditional 3-course Italian service - primi, pasta, secondo - and therefor the pasta dishes are a little on the small side and not intended to be an entree. This was not obvious and some in our party ordered pasta as their main meal and were disappointed with three tiny ravioli (for example). 2) Service was awful a) food came out at all different times - no central coordination in the kitchen - some in our party ordered salad as a first course, some ordered pasta and some ordered no first course - waiter should have asked how we wanted the food to come out b) we asked after an antipasti that we had ordered for the table and our waiter went to check and when he left another waiter brought the dish; the first waiter then brought a second order of the dish c) we ordered two desserts and were given two servings of one of the dishes - when I said "we only ordered one" our waiter said "that's the way it comes" d) when the bill came we'd been charged for 4 desserts! the bill was quickly corrected but at that point it was adding insult to injury. 3) the food was actually very good! pork loin was delicious, gnocchi were perfectly light pillows, arrabiatta was spicy but not overwhelming. 4) parking is limited - some street parking but also an adjoining lot where parking is $16 and you can only use Apple Pay to pay the charges
