Really can’t say enough great things about Basant. The food is incredible and a breath of fresh air in the Chicago Indian food scene. I love a good curry house, but Basant has so much more than your average chicken tikka masala or butter chicken. It truly feels both authentic and innovative. Everything I’ve tried here, I’ve truly enjoyed, so I can’t really say what I haven’t enjoyed here. The space both inside and outside is just lovely. Their patio is comfortable and somehow quietly tucked away on a lovely quiet street between Lincoln and Damen. The service is kind, attentive, and very welcoming. Any questions about any dishes are welcome and answered. Definitely love Basant!

Good food but not great. Wants to be Indian modern but not quite hip enough. Appetizers were excellent but mains not there. I will go back in the summer, outdoor space looked very accommodating.

Space is very crowded which overpowered our experience. Service was good. Food was hit or miss. Naan and malai paneer were amazing. Manchurian was raw in the middle and tasted very flour-y / ketchup-y. Gulab Jamun cheesecake - taste was good but very straightforward. Had much more potential for the price point.

Extremely good cocktails and food with a great atmosphere. I try something new on the menu every time I go and its always a win. That being said the samosas are a staple every time.

Their food is unique - many recognizable Indian dishes but with their own take and spice combinations that make the food really special. Great cocktails, too! 😎

This place keeps improving, and it was great when it opened. The new menu layout make ordering a breeze.
