We go to Basalt quite often but love to go for Special Occasions like Birthdays or Anniversaries. Help staff is always very knowledgeable and helpful. Service is always attentive. Food is always excellent and very innovative. Our favorite is the Pork Bao with the Charcoal Buns; best that I've ever tasted. Miso Cod is delicious. There is entertainment on the patio which is a nice touch to Happy Hour and Dinner. Try it, You'll like it.

Mother's Day lunch was not a good as usual in terms of food and service. We think it was because you were too busy. The food was good, but some items were not as good as usual. The service staff are very polite, but it was hard for them to cover everyone and everything.

Our meal was delicious and the service was very good. There was enjoyable live music while we ate in the restaurant, which was just far enough away from the tourist destinations to seem intimate. It truly is a hidden gem in Waikiki.

Matthew provided excellent service providing detailed explanations of the menu and recommendations. Very fast, friendly, and prompt service. Above all else the food was fantastic, among the best prime rib I’ve had at any speciality steakhouse. Overall, an excellent dinning experience that makes me wonder why I hadn’t discovered this earlier.

I can't speak for my guests although they mentioned the food was good. I ordered the Prime Rib Dip and can't wait to go back and have it again. We had great, friendly service too and they let us hang out at the table to visit since we had not seen each other in quite a while. Kudos!

チャコールパンケーキを食べてみたくて伺いました。あまり炭の味はしないかな。コーヒーのお替りを持ってきてくれましたが、空になってからしばらく経ってから、しかも支払いの段階でしたので、欲を言えばもう少し早く欲しかったかな。

I would like to share my thoughts on the cuisine I had recently. I must say, the Norwegian trout was exceptionally delightful. Also, the price fix rib eye was not only a great value, but it was also very flavorful. Lastly, I had the pleasure of trying the Marlin, and it was just as delicious as the other dishes.

Was staying at a Hotel nearby and found this place on Yelp for brunch. Our family loved it so much we ended up coming the next day to try their dinner menu. Food was excellent and fairly priced, especially considering what we paid for breakfast at the hotel restaurant. We even got to meet the chef during dinner and she broke down how she made her Miso cod which our family loved. Service was also excellent. Check this place out, you won't regret it.

Really good food and quality service. But be aware that this restaurant is located inside a convenience store. The ambiance is odd. The lighting is too bright at dinner and the outdoor eating area is next the entrance to a parking garage. So the view for outside dining is concrete walls, pillars, and cars driving by.

We ordered the fresh catch Parmesan cheese and Panko preparation. It was very good much better than Dukes. We enjoyed the pork buns and the carbonara. I would definitely return. While I was there the executive chef was on the outside of the food line watching for food quality before orders were delivered to guests. I will return next time I am in town.

Absolutely Fabulous 🤙As Always, the Crew was All on hand from the entrance to the Bar, all the way to Our Favorite table near the Kitchen. Mahalo Nui to the Entire Staff for Always making our Lunch/Dinner dates jus Perfect! We used to ( still do) celebrate Our Birthday's, Anniversary, and Special Occasions, but....We have decided to make Basalt Our regular Eatery once ( Maybe twice) every month. There were three of us at dinner and we all got different dishes. The fried chicken was delicious, as well as, the prime rib. However, the carbonara was off in taste. The yuzu was too forward and gave the dish a very citrus flavor. It did not mix well. Our waiter was pleasant but not super attentive. He did not offer any salt or pepper for the table and we had to ask someone else. Overall, it was an okay experience but I don’t feel the need to return.

Totally enjoyed our evening here! Well priced prix fixe menu, great service, well stocked bar, and best of all, everything we had was delicious! We met some out of town friends here, who also raved about the miso black cod, prime rib, pork belly bao and quinoa shrimp! Although we don’t venture into Waikiki much, we’ll definitely be back! The live music was great too!

FOOD QUALITY: The most delicious, light-textured charcoal buttermilk pancakes is a meal to be shared by 2 for a main course or for 4 as a heavy appetizer, or by 6 as a “tasting” menu, so beware when you order this item as it’s a lot of food. The strawberry-guava sauce instead of traditional maple syrup is excellent as its slight tartness provides a nice balance. We were happy that these pancakes were not swimming in the sauce. Basalt Breakfast: who cooked this meal? Just skip it. We were too polite and should have sent back this meal. Nothing in the following description is an exaggeration. Potatoes were rubbery-dry, leathery, dripping in grease. Something that should have been destined for composting instead of being plated. Eggs were over scrambled, as in overcooked. And the worst…bacon was soggy, very undercooked, not at all hot & crispy. Someone really was having a ho-hum day in the kitchen. SERVICE: Service was very good, very helpful staff who could answer questions about the ingredients and food preparation. Although they were very busy, they were very accommodating, polite, professional. Kudos to the staff. COFFEE: if you prefer dark roast coffee, this is not the place. Their coffee is a light-medium roast, tasted a tad bitter as in the water was too hot when coffee was prepared, so coffee tasted over extracted. But still drinkable if you’re a light roasted coffee kind of person. But who is? I’m not poo-pooing this place, just “meh.” Go here for the pancakes & wonderful table service.

Food and service were amazing. We came for breakfast on a Sunday morning and had the loco mono and the special which was a beef skillet. So good! The staff were above and beyond great. Would definitely come again.

Took around an hour to get our entrees and it wasn’t like they were busy. Two tables that were seated 30mins after us received their food before us and it was the same entrees we ordered. They got one or our orders wrong and the miso cod had some paper in it. They offered no reasoning behind the long wait and just said sorry and comped the miso cod and our dinks. Food was okay, definitely not worth it if we paid full price.

Basalt is our new favorite place to have brunch. The food is excellent, consistent, comes to the table hot, and is not overpriced. Service is also excellent. The servers, kitchen staff, bartender, and managers all work together to keep the flow going smoothly. We will be back for dinner sometime soon.

Our server Trillion was terrific. The poached eggs on all three dishes were spot on! Perfect! The breakfast potatoes are not good. They were dry and seem like a frozen product. The coffee is not great. Tastes like drip from a gas station. Menu describes it as a special blend. A restaurant serving brunch should have espresso and or a really good coffee.

Easter Brunch with our family was so perfect! Great food, drink and service. From start to finish everything was delicious. We first ordered Bloody Mary’s, Bellini, a Manhattan and a special Strawberry & Cream Martini all delicious! Next our food, Avocado toast w/poached egg, Vegetable omelet, Crab cakes and we ordered the stuffed Pineapple French Toast to share. Wow, all amazing! Our server was great too, Thuy was so nice and hospitable. My second time there and we all will eat here again! Nice chill atmosphere, very comfortable and easy going.

High marks in EVERY category; reservations; hostess pleasant and wished us a happy anniversary; Ronald, our table representative was pleasant, friendly and professional. Food came out quickly, was delicious. Restaurant was fresh and clean. Staff super friendly. Ronald spent time with us explaining the food and listened to our interests. Ceilings were high which kept ambiance level of distortion to a minimum. We're going to make this our Sunday ritual for brunch!

Every time we come into town, we try to catch dinner at Basalt. Paige and Sam have waited on us and are always very attentive. The Miso Butter Cod is absolutely amazing, and the smoked whiskey cocktails are very special

We had the pirx fixe dinner, for two, and everything was perfect. Service was a dream!The soup and salad were excellent, the steaks were amazing, and the dessert was special. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and our server even surprised us with a lilikoi creme brulee that said happy birthday! The live music was great, Shawn Garnett played acoustic guitar and played lovely, gentle versions of Highway to Hell and Bad Romance, and more. It was wonderful!

Chicken wings and pork buns were outstanding. If you like spicy food, get the fried chicken entree. The sauce will blow your socks off. Prime rib was a little salty but still decent. Very reasonable wine prices.

Had some time and was in the area so decided to drop in and try their charcoal pancakes. It was delicious! Not heavy at all - very light. And tasty. It’s just a lot for 1 person to finish. I would order it again. I came around 10a, so not much of a crowd. But I do recommend eating indoors. Their outdoor seating is loud from noise coming from a machine that is running in the neighboring building's ground floor - maybe an a/c compressor/unit? Non-stop droning noise. Maybe it was just the time I came and that machine is off at other times of the day. In any event, service was good - attentive and considerate. Would return for a second visit.
