I came by Barrel for a mid-week date and thought it was perfect. The cheese selections and portions were good. And it was quite enough to have a conversation. I’ll certainly be coming back.

Great service. Amazing drinks. Cheese table was ok. Shrimp was undercooked though (shrimp cocktail) 8/10 :)

Great ambiance and the music was so good! Perfect Valentine’s/galentines Day place! Great wine selection. Food was good but not enough bread/crackers/veggies for the dips

Very disappointed. This place would be great if you don’t really know wine (enjoy box wine or anything in $10s range) and you are in 20s.

My fiancé and I were celebrating my new job. This was our first time in Barrel Cheese and Wine. Our waitress was kind of short and not-welcoming in the beginning. She did loosen up as the evening progressed. The drinks for the value ($16 each) were not worth it. It was mostly sugar and not enough alcohol. The cheese plate was yummy even though we were given the wrong cheese. The waitress did not charge us for the wrong cheese and quickly rectified with the correct cheese. We tried three different wines before landing on the one we both liked and the waitress seemed annoyed by us. My fiancé went to the bartender to ask which wine would go best with the cheeses we ordered and our waitress was visibly upset we skipped her and went to the bartender. I am not sure I would return. The energy from the waitress and the staff were not very welcoming. We seemed more like a burden than a paying customer have celebratory drinks.

Did a ladies wine night, it was super cozy inside and there was a violinist playing great music, a mix of modern and classic. We did the 7 cheese cheese board it was delicious but they do not give you enough bread and crackers forcing you to buy more for $4. All the wine was very good and the service was great. Will definitely be coming back.

Great ambiance & service!!! The food was mixed, some items were awesome and some not so great but the wine is amazing and cheese plate is spot on!

Five Stars! What a fabulous addition to East Lakeview! Rudy - the owner - took amazing care of us. We enjoyed tasting some very different wines and chose a great Pinot Grigio from Friulli. Great wine selections overall. Our 5 cheese charcuterie was a delight. The menu boasts great small plates for sharing and interesting salad choices. Service was impressive. Music in the background was just right. We sat inside in cozy velvet chairs near the open wall near the sidewalk which was great for people watching. Cozy fireplace loveseat and living walls are inviting for a great experience. Highly recommend! We felt like we were transported to a mini European vacation! Definitely recommend this great spot.

A group of 14 met up to have some wine and snacks. The service was outstanding! We enjoyed the wine (especially the Farmhouse Red blend) an several different cocktails. We ordered a few different charcuterie boards with various cheeses and the group devoured them! Great place and a great time!

Don’t waste your money. Ordered wine and a charcuterie board. You can make a better one at home. The burrata tasted spoiled. The bread looked to be from the grocery store bread aisle that they slightly toasted. The jam was grape and strawberry. They did a great job making the place look cute and the menu appealing but don’t be fooled!

This is a great new Lincoln Park spot. Great wine and cocktail selection. Had a 5-cheese charcuterie that was really delicious with generous portions. Would definitely recommend

The wine list is a well-rounded offering of reds and whites but the small plates were an amazing standout! Tables are well spaced and the playlist, fireplace and seating nooks enhance the ambiance. We had attentive service from everyone and a visit from our host who was looking for feedback. We said “keep doing what you’re doing and we’ll be back!” Great addition to the neighborhood!

First time here and YOU have to go! This trendy, hip and romantic lounge was amazing. Hospitable staff, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation and a wide wine list. The decor is very “on point” and the “chill out” continuous music deserves its own 5 stars!! Rudy made us feel welcomed and gave us an amazing experience. Well Done!!

It was very dark, so suggest more lighting & the music was extremely loud, but the cheese and wine were fantastic!
