Recommended in the MICHELIN Guide for California 2021-2023. Located in Oakland’s historic Grand Lake District, Bardo is a neighborhood lounge and restaurant inspired by the comfort and camaraderie of a mid-century dinner party. Drawing on the celebration and elegance of old school entertaining, we envisioned a space for friends and neighbors to enjoy amazing food, cocktails, conversation and great music.

Our lounge is a swank living room, furnished with hand-picked finds from antique and vintage markets from Palm Springs to Portland. Our mezzanine dining room features a rotating menu of fresh, seasonal supper-fare with local and sustainably sourced meats, fish and produce. While we think the food, drinks and atmosphere are all great reasons to visit us, it’s the relationships with our friends, neighbors and guests that is the driving force behind Bardo.

Dining with friends? You can't go wrong with our family style Dinner Party Menu. We include an array of house selected apps, mains and desserts from our current seasonal menu. All dishes are meant to be shared among your whole group. Sample a little or a lot of whatever meets your fancy! It's a great way to dine and depending on the night, Chef Amol might stop by your table for a little visit! Food cost is $75/pp and does not include beverages. 20% gratuity and tax will be added to the check.

We only had appetizers. We had deviled eggs and Cesar salad. Both were good. Cocktails were excellent. We would go again for dinner

The Cocktails were perfect and interesting, the food was nice but not over the top. it is a bit noisy, turn off the music please, I know you are aiming for lounge effect but people should not be talking loudly across a small table. Intimate is a better vibe. The desert was over the top though and service was impeccable. I will come again and it is nice having a fine restaurant in the neighborhood

What a pleasant surprise to stumble upon this place. Great food, drinks, and vintage decor. All of the staff peeps were so chill and nice. Definitely recommend. What a gem.

This was our second time here but our first time doing the Dinner Party menu option. Everything we had was amazing and the cocktails were great. I love Bardo’s vibe and the style of the restaurant. However, the Dinner Party menu says dietary restrictions can be accommodated and a lot of the options we received had gluten, despite clarifying that one person was gluten free. I was hoping for some more gluten free options for not being able to select the menu items myself. Next time I would skip the dinner party and would just order off the menu.

Everything perfect..GREAT cocktail and GREAT food. Really like the atmosphere..with not just tables, but also couches and various books-and-crannies scattered throughout really gives a homey feel to the whole restaurant. Best overall dinner out since arriving in the East Bay 2 years ago!

Very relaxing vibe, mid-century modern details make it feel like you are outside of time. Diverse clientele speaks to the welcoming charm of the staff. Food and drinks were excellent.
