Barbara is a lively Italian restaurant inspired by the rustic tradition of Roman pizzerie, opening in San Francisco’s historic Italian district of North Beach in September 2018 to serve as the neighborhood destination for casual dinning. We feature an energetic open kitchen, creating fresh takes on classics as well as original inventions showcasing seasonal and local ingredients, transporting taste of the eternal city to San Francisco. We've eaten here many times, but my husband ordered a steak for the first time, and LOVED IT! My cacio e pepe was a little dry this time, but still quite good. The pinsa was so good, as always, and the wine hit the spot. Great service and fun vibe.

The drinks were small (martini glass only 2/3 full and Negroni buried in ice). Linguini and clams was the saltiest and briniest I have ever had (don’t order it); the ragu was decent. The pizzas looked good. Very loud.

This place is a trap. Don’t get fooled. They do not honor reservations, always over booked or will just stick you outside. The food looks like it’s good to be good, it’s not. It’s mediocre. The food lacks flavor and salt. And this is coming from someone who loves all Italian food. I wanted to like this place. But I feel obligated to tell people is disappointing.

The restaurant offers a great selection of Roman dishes and Italian wines. However, the kitchen doesn’t know how to make good cacio e pepe. The dish came out with clumps of cheese and fell short in taste.

The staff of Barbara Pinseria are so awesome. They made my friends birthday SO special and didn't even flinch when accommodating a part of 20 - they didn't seem overwhelmed at all, rather very kind and happy we were there. On top of the awesome staff, the food and drinks are DELICIOUS. There's a million reasons to come here, but you only need one - just do it.

The food was average. Lacked flavor. The service was subpar. The hostess/doorman was sassy and not helpful,Even when we had a reservation. We were seated at 8pm, we got our food by 9:30pm.

We were sat outside. We had birthday that was celebrated by the restaurant. Awkwardly watched the inside tables have celebrations

Great vibe in the heart of North Beach. Second time going and the food is really good with a great selection of apps (calamari is really good), pastas, and a few non pasta dishes for entrees. The staff is super nice and given restaurant prices in the city right now, this is a great value.
