This is Greece.

Bar Vlaha tells the story of the Vlach people, the founders of hospitality and Greek cooking. A nomadic group of shepherds who created and nurtured the roots of Hellenic cooking as we know it. Straying from the tried-and-true island cuisine, we're rediscovering Greek fare sourced from rural mountains, lakes and villages of Central and Northern Greece.

Bar Vlaha captures the true soul of Greek cooking with rustic and nomadic traditions using charcoal and open fire gastra techniques. Locally sourced, regional and seasonal ingredients are combined with the warmth of old-world hospitality to bring the roots of Greek culture to Brookline.

Excellent food and service at reasonable prices. Great atmosphere and music. The tequila and mezcal drink was excellent. Ordered trout and beef checks, highly recommend both. Lamb was good but not as interesting as the other two main dishes. Also had eggplant spread and a cheese spread to start with their bread, everything was delicious. Will come back!

As Greeks we give it a thumbs up. Fantastic food options. Very authentic but for the prices (then again if you weigh menu prices vs. a plane ticket to Greece I suppose it's a bargain). Your potatoes were a bit undercooked as were the chorta, but the tastes were right on. Speaking of potatoes and chorta, just add them to the main courses. Silly to have to order that separately....Bravo paideia!

Bar Vlaha is that unusual combination of flavorful, thoughtfully prepared, and utterly delicious food, a lovely atmosphere - relaxed but not too casual, fun but not too loud - and warm, just attentive enough service. We will be back!

We are foodies and we have also traveled a lot. The meal and the service was outstanding…. World class. Parking is a headache, but don’t let that deter you. You won’t be sorry!

We had been trying to get a reservation here that fit our schedule for months. The stars aligned on Saturday when we scored 2 seats at the chef’s table. Seeing each dish come out made us want everything! The extraordinary cheeses along with the oyster mushrooms were our appetizers followed by the slow roasted lamb, eggplant and lemon potatoes. The drinks are very special, don’t skip the cocktail with the feta foam! Shout out to Maria who took excellent care of us on this busy Saturday night. The whole team is very strong and works collaboratively. Details like the pottery, Italian flatware, wood boards underscores this is a beautifully curated experience.We can’t wait to return with more friends to try multiple dishes.

We have had many meals here and they are always fantastic. The service is the best in Boston. Love love love Bar Vlaha.

Nice place with good service and average food. Before going read some reviews calling Bar Vlaha- “best Greek food in Boston”. If that’s true - Boston doesn’t have good Greek food. I had the taramasalata- too oily, tastes more like mayo. Could not feel the roe in it. Lambs leg was OK, although a bit too dry and chewy. Somehow overpriced for the quality of the food. On the bright side-very pleasant service! I’m not sure if I will ever go back!
