This is Greece.

Bar Vlaha tells the story of the Vlach people, the founders of hospitality and Greek cooking. A nomadic group of shepherds who created and nurtured the roots of Hellenic cooking as we know it. Straying from the tried-and-true island cuisine, we're rediscovering Greek fare sourced from rural mountains, lakes and villages of Central and Northern Greece.

Bar Vlaha captures the true soul of Greek cooking with rustic and nomadic traditions using charcoal and open fire gastra techniques. Locally sourced, regional and seasonal ingredients are combined with the warmth of old-world hospitality to bring the roots of Greek culture to Brookline.

We visited for brunch and everything was incredible! I can’t say enough about the service, the food, and just the beauty of the restaurant itself.

Be aware that sitting at the Chef’s Table you’re by an oven which is very, very hot

I was very much looking forward to try Bar Vlaha and it did not disappoint. Food was amazing, our server was super attentive and explained everything. Will definetely be back

Great local spot in Brookline for clean, simple and delicious Mediterranean flavors. A must try with a citrus blend mimosa for brunch on the weekends, too.

Excellent food and service at reasonable prices. Great atmosphere and music. The tequila and mezcal drink was excellent. Ordered trout and beef checks, highly recommend both. Lamb was good but not as interesting as the other two main dishes. Also had eggplant spread and a cheese spread to start with their bread, everything was delicious. Will come back!

As Greeks we give it a thumbs up. Fantastic food options. Very authentic but for the prices (then again if you weigh menu prices vs. a plane ticket to Greece I suppose it's a bargain). Your potatoes were a bit undercooked as were the chorta, but the tastes were right on. Speaking of potatoes and chorta, just add them to the main courses. Silly to have to order that separately....Bravo paideia!

Bar Vlaha is that unusual combination of flavorful, thoughtfully prepared, and utterly delicious food, a lovely atmosphere - relaxed but not too casual, fun but not too loud - and warm, just attentive enough service. We will be back!

We are foodies and we have also traveled a lot. The meal and the service was outstanding…. World class. Parking is a headache, but don’t let that deter you. You won’t be sorry!
