Service was rushed where servers were scooping up plates before we were finished without asking to clear. The timing between dishes was then incredibly long, it felt as if half our order was forgotten about until we said something.

Banyan has the best patio in the South End. On a nice night, it is a great atmosphere. The food is usually ok, and the service is generally fine. We had an ok meal last night, but a few critiques below: - We ordered the Pork and Leek dumplings off the Happy Hour menu even though the Happy Hour menu wasn't provided to us. The website says it's available 4-6 pm daily, and the servers said it was. We were asked if we wanted 5 pork dumplings and 5 leek dumplings or 10 and 10, which we thought was odd, since we thought all the dumplings included both ingredients. We went with 5 and 5 and later realized they meant did we want them steamed or fried? We would have just had 10 steamed dumplings if they had asked us that. The menu online says they are "pan-fried." Also, for some reason these didn't come out til the end of the meal even though we put them in before even ordering our "mains." - My wife asked for a soda water with lime and they gave us an entire bottle of Saratoga springs sparkling water. Not sure how much that was, but likely more than the on tap soda water we were expecting. - The Toast credit card device -- I don't mind having the server take our payment at the table, but we never received a bill, and also didn't receive an itemized receipt. Should have said something in the moment, but was in a bit of a hurry. Not sure if that is standard operating procedure, but it felt wrong. Our total for two $5 happy hour items, a $15 bao, $21 sticky chicken, $12 wine, $6 beer, a coke and a Saratoga Springs Sparkling water was $96. Did that include my tip? I'm not sure.

Wow! I was very impressed with the service, the manager was very polite to us and greeted us with a smile and a complimentary side dish right away. The bar tender provided quick and friendly service. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was very welcoming. I plan to visit this restaurant every time I visit Boston!

We love banyan! But the last visit was a little disappointing. we feel like the food quality has dropped.

We went during Happy Hour on a Sunday, and ordered the veggie dumplings and a scallion pancake roll with pork belly from the specials menu, plus two kinds of bao (cauliflower and fried chicken) from the regular menu. Everything was delicious, and our server was wonderful.

We always love it here. We went this time for Mother's Day with a party of 9, and the experience was just as lovely as if it had been a party of 2. The staff are always wonderful to us.

Banyan is THE place to go in Boston. Food delicious, drinks fun, service impeccable, vibe energetic. You cannot go wrong. IF you can get a reservation. Do so early.

My server mei was so fantastic! She was attentive, cheery, and super fun. The patio was booming and the vibes were immaculate. The food is unique Asian fusion and I could tell the chefs really thought about each recipe. It’s always a pleasure to dine at Banyan!!

This was not my first time here but the first time with a large party so we were able to order more items. Everything was amazing. From the bao buns to the soba noodles to the hot plates (we got mussels and green beans this time), everything was full of flavor including some heat and delicious. The portions are just right for us. The cocktails were also tasty. I love that they have a skinny margarita that’s spicy! And our family members got other cocktails and mock tails that were equally delicious. Dessert was also fantastic. I would highly recommend for a special night or just a fun night out with friends.
