Sensational food as usual. The bbq roast duck and belly pork is simply delicious. Hot and spicy soup is superb. Service is quick and thorough. This is better than any Chinese restaurant in Chinatown as it is consistently good.

I ordered my "usuals" which were as good as usual. Beef Cheung Fun has good consistency and the beef in the filling was fine (but could have been even better if added with a little coriander). Young Chow Fried Rice was good. Squid Rings were very fried - crispy and hardly had any oil. My "Ginger & Onion Stirred Fried Ribs" was excellent. My favourite Yam/ Taro Croquette was as good as ever - well fried but light colour and full of yam/ taro inside. I reckon it is better than many restaurants - EVEN IN HONG KONG ! That was how good it was.

Incredibly noisy. Food didn’t come all at once 3/5 mains arrived together another one arrived 20minutes later followed by the last one another 10 minutes later. The 10% surcharge you pay if you are 5 or more people was taken off.

Food has always been so good at Banquet 1408 but tonight was disappointing. Can’t believe that it’s the same chef! Lemon chicken was dry and overcooked. £4.50 for a few prawn crackers was not value for money.

1. The Beef Cheung Fun was good as usual - consistency of rice flour dough (not too soft and not too firm). As I have suggested, the beef filling was seasoned with dark soya sauce. I would have given it 5 * if seasoned with light soya sauce + a little bit of spring onion and coriander. 2. The Kwu Kok was O.K. - flour casing just right with some "chewiness that Cantonese like." 3. The Deep Fried Squid was again excellent. It was so well fried - that if one wipes the pieces with a servette, one could not see any grease !! The seasoning was just right. 4. The Pan Fried Pork Buns was probably the best I have tried. The bun itself was "chewy" - as Cantonese like it. 5. The Yam/ Taro Croquette was as good as one could expect - even compared to Hong Kong. It was very well fried, not greasy with a thick coating of yam/ taro inside. (Personally, I would preferred it without meat.) 6. The Deep Fried Spare Ribs with Ginger & Onion has gone even better from the last time. For me, it has become the "signature dish" of Banquet. One could easily put it alongside Hong Kong Chinese Cantonese Restaurant.

1. The Deep Fried Spare Ribs with Ginger & Onion (off the menu) was excellent - probably the best I have tried outside Hong Kong/ Canada. 2. The pastry of Beef Cheung Fun came in a good consistency. The beef could have been improved if seasoned with light soya sauce and a pinch of coriander. 3. The Deep Fried Squid (Dim Sum Menu) was excellent and beyond expectation. Seasoning was just right and came in very light colour and crispy. It was dry without any sign of oil. 4. The Turnip Cake (Cup) in XO Sauce was also excellent - crispy, dry and no grease. 5. The Shredded Pork/ Beansprouts Stir Fried Ho Fun was as good as one could expect - without the use of the Hong Kong/ Malaysia/ Canada's "jet engine gas fire" (prohibited in U.K. and U.S.A.)

I have been quite a regular diner here but it has gone downhill. Although packed out which was to be expected at Easter time, it seemed packed out with people who had no idea how to behave in public. The table near to us had a loud-mouthed woman who insisted on letting out the most annoying, high volume cackling ''witches laugh'' at every opportunity, then each of the people at that table appeared to be trying to ''out shout'' each other. totally ruined our enjoyment. Crispy chilli beef was delivered well into our main course and was stone cold so I sent it back. I had also ordered a curry sauce which never came. The curry had more ''other items'' in it than I have seen before, strips of barely cooked carrot, mange tout and other unwanted ''fillers'' leaving little room in the bowl for actual chicken or curry. Same problem with the ''Chicken and mushroom'' soup which contained no noticeable chicken or mushrooms, just lots of mange tout, again sliced uncooked carrots and the like. This used to be so good, but I will not be going back.

We came for Mother’s Day and had a really pleasant time. The food was delicious, with fresh ingredients, served hot with the right portion sizes. All courses were perfectly timed to arrive at our table. Service was fantastic, will definitely come again. One minor issue was the spacing of the tables. My mother encountered a few female customers barging past and pushing her into our table whilst seated. These customers appeared to be annoyed with my mum and that she wasn’t able to move quick enough for them to pass. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon and the food. Thank you Banquet.

The restaurant was a nice place, but the staff was not very approachable. When we ordered our drinks, they brought us something different from what we ordered. for example, I asked for pineapple juice but they brought us apple juice instead. additionally, the service was rushed and the lady at the front desk was not friendly or welcoming. We even had to ask multiple times for the menu book, but they kept taking away from us before we were finished looking at it. Anyway, it was lovely dinner. Important the food was lovely.

My wife & I visited for our anniversary. The place was very noisy with a lot of chatter & a party of 12 celebrating a 50th birthday near us. We did not mind at all, but maybe not for everybody. The food was very good, but maybe a shade off excellent but that's being picky. We plumpt for a £28 bottle of red which was a little dissapointing. Staff were attentive & polite without being overly enthusiastic. All in all a very enjoyable evening.

As always, the food and service was first class. Restaurant was very busy but as it was a Saturday night and the culmination of chinese New Year (lantern day) hardly surprising. Enjoyed our family evening very much and looking forwards to our next visit.
