Went with group for special birthday. Despite making reservations weeks in advance and calling restaurant twice to make sure we had good table — service simply sucked. Waited 30mins for drink order despite restaurant occupied by only 2 other tables. We simply left. Never going back.

Went there for a brunch on a Sunday. It was connected to the hotel I was staying at. My daughter and son-in-law who live in Chicago were with me. They were not full at 11:15 and we were seated promptly. We were then ignored for about 15 minutes. We tried to order lattes, but the barista wasn’t there, so only brewed coffee. We ordered a lavender-cream waffle off of the starter menu as a starter. We had to ask about it after our food came out later. Someone asked for ketchup for fries, and they were out. They had called for “some other location to bring them some.” The food was okay and the server was pleasant, but I wouldn’t recommend or go back.

Kind of average food. Steak frites was pretty charred for medium. The presentation on the plate was best described as sloppy. Service was painfully slow despite the restaurant being only half full. Honestly wouldn’t recommend to anyone looking for a better French dining experience.

Nothing special. Nothing was terrible but the restaurant seemed way over its head. It felt like it was trying to be a robust bistro but on the cheap.

I'm a regular at Bandol, which is the former Cochon Volant. Very good reliable food and service. Prices aren't crazy. Breakfast is really good also.

Would not recommend. Food was average. Service below average. Not crowded at lunch, but had to ask for water refills, iced tea refills, second requests for sweetener. So many good restaurants in Chicago, wouldn't be surprised if this one remains uncrowded and fades away.

Lousy meal!!! Cheeseburger was like a hockey puck. They didn’t have mustard. The poutine looked horrible with a blob of cheese and gravy and tasted bland. My associate had a Grilled cheese and tomato soup that she said tasted okay, nothing special. Salad looked okay Overall an expensive and disappointing lunch Not returning and don’t believe it will be there for too long…..

This is the second time I have had a subpar meal at Bandol. the lobster roll is inedible and inauthentic and the turkey club is mediocre at best.

Bandol is a big part of my enjoyment of staying at Hyatt Centric-the Loop. Bandol is always willing to indulge my off menu requests. Amber the new manager is delightful and a great leader for those working there. Brad is ever a delight in his role as a bartender there! Food is great. One of my dining companions ordered the 1/2 Amish Chicken and the meat literally falls off the bone. The paella is great and I loved the scallops on the saffron risotto. $1 oyster at Happy Hour on Monday and Friday are a real treat. Excellent place to dine!

As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the hostess. She was polite, mannerly and interested in the occasion for our visit. We were seated promptly. Our waitress came over immediately as if she was waiting for us to arrive. The food was excellent. Only complaint was the time it took to get appetizers. Other than that it was very good experience.

Not firing on all cylinders with their pre-theater menu. Service was very slow, and we had to flag down server to get our dessert and check in order to make the 7:30 curtain time -- when you offer a pre-theater package you should know how to pace the food to make sure diners have time to get to the theater! Plus, the menu promises gelato for dessert, but instead we were served sherbet that was too icy and not at all what we expected: we should have been informed of the substitution. Not eager to return.

Our second time to Bandol and will come back again. We were coming for an early dinner before the theatre and the place was packed for happy hour. The ambiance and service were excellent. The food was also very good, our table had the Jambalaya, Vegetable Lasagna and Super Salad. Portions were moderate (which I think is a good thing). Entrees did not come with soup/salad or bread so I think prices were a little high based on this. The only disappointment was the Poutine that was a little dry and needed more gravy and some cheese curds. This is one of our favorite dishes to get when we visit Canada and it is always excellent so FWIW this is what we are comparing it to.

I ordered the chicken salad on croissant for lunch. The croissant was a mini one and there was hardly any chicken salad on it. The fries were not hot and were borderline cold. The food took a long time to receive. Much better lunch options nearby.

The only thing that was good was the crab cakes. The waiter was great. Everything else was disgusting. The oysters were slimy, the steak frittes were just a small steak over some fries and it just was foul. The salmon was bland and still had the skin on it. 3/10 that’s only because the waiter was nice.

The experience was overall very below average. We went for brunch and the food was sub par and the service was awful. The waitress checked in on us twice and it took 1.5 hours to eat for a party of 6 in a completely empty restaurant. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone.

While I am certain that many patrons have wonderful experiences at Bandol, our visit was marred by several missteps. Despite clearly communicating a diner’s food allergy both in our RSVP notes and at the beginning of our meal, there were repeated mistakes made by the staff. This resulted in our party eating at staggered times, disrupting the flow of our dining experience. Furthermore, a table seated after us received the same appetizer we had ordered, at which point we were then informed that the kitchen could no longer serve any more of that particular appetizer (which to be fair, appeared to be for valid and fair reasons), which was understandably disappointing. The restaurant did make commendable efforts to accommodate us and rectify the situation after realizing the errors. Their proactive approach in addressing our concerns is noted and appreciated. Overall, the food quality and ambiance at Bandol are impressive. However, I advise those with food allergies to exercise extra caution here. While dining out always requires vigilance for individuals with allergies, it seems particularly necessary at this establishment, especially for those with severe or life-threatening allergies.

Only a few people in restaurant and yet we all had to work to find someone so we could pay our bill. Since there were only 3 occupied tables this was ridiculous. .

Food was ok not great. Limited menu. Burgers were a little greasy. Kids ordered poutine and gravy was muck thinner than what we are used to. Prices were very reasonable for downtown, but overall, there are much better choices in the area.

We ate here for brunch while waiting to see an afternoon concert. Food was all very good and we were surprised it wasn't too busy in the restaurant. Cocktails took a little long to come out at first.

The tuna in the niçoise salad if from a can. Disappointing. Worse part is I left my credit card at the restaurant after paying the bill. Called to confirm they have it and they confirmed they would hold it for me in a lock box at the bar until I have time to pick it up the next day. Overnight, more than $1,000 of charges appeared on my credit account online account. Won't be back.
