If you're going to take your name from a badass like the patron saint of blacksmiths, you better be able to back it up. Baldamar marks the turning point where we usher in the new standard for style, service and steak. It means the menu’s made with old-world craft at its core and modern day meat eaters in mind — with flavors forged in fire and folded into pure primal perfection. It’s where every steak is aged 40 days and 40 nights for a taste of biblical proportion, and where crazy-fresh seafood means it was caught during your morning commute. At the bar sits every spirit imaginable, and someone who isn’t afraid to use them. This is more than a new steakhouse. It’s a line in the sand. It’s not just where you celebrate special occasions. It’s where you create them.

The food was absolutely amazing. There was not a single thing wrong with the meal. The waiter was very kind, attentive, and conscientious. They gave us a free birthday dessert as well!

We came to celebrate our birthdays, and wow- it did not disappoint. Zach made our night incredible, and he was such a gracious, kind, and fun server! Food was amazing- some of the best I’ve had in Minnesota. It’s expensive but perfect for a celebration. We will definitely be back!

We celebrated our anniversary at Baldamar. From the moment we walked in, staff were attentive and offering kind words about our anniversary. Our server was amazing and made great suggestions for food and drinks based on our interests! We will definitely be returning.

We came for 245 brunch. Many options at the buffet were cold and/or had sat out for too long making them not appetizing. Without warning, they closed the doors on brunch food at 345. We love Baldamar and frequent it for special occasions. Expected more...

Had stopped in for all-day Sunday happy hour at the bar, only to learn it wasn't being offered due to Mother's Day. Would have been good to include this on their website, but we made the most of it and ordered from the dinner menu. Excellent food, drinks, and service as always.

We've been here lots of times for celebrations and date nights. We were looking forward to bringing my mother in law for the first time on Mother's Day. We didn't realize it was buffet only due to the holiday until we were seated and handed the limited menu. My MIL doesn't like buffets because she doesn't eat much. We were looking forward to sharing apps and had it all planned out. We asked the server if there was another menu available and received a sharp, "no." We then explained my MILs concerns and the server just stared at us blankly when we asked for options. And then later when a manager came around and asked us about our experience we told him the same and he dismissed us with, "I'm the same way. I just eat slowly." Server was also not what we were accustomed to. We usually get a warm, friendly experience with them. The server at the next table was so expressive we could hear him and wished we were at one of his tables. Our server was doing the minimum but was responsive when we mentioned the fish was dry (he said he went and told the chef and then followed up to say the chef was remaking it...too late, we're full). We mostly we're disappointed that we didn't get to show off what we love about Baldamar. $60 per person (not including drinks) for a mediocre buffet was not a good value. We will come back but definitely not on any future holidays. It would have been nice that when they called to confirm our reservation a few days in advance that they let us know it would be buffet only. We would have gone elsewhere for Mother's Day.

First time having brunch at Baldamar, service was great, Nate was our server and was very attentive. The food options were great and most of it was wonderful, halibut was very dry and we couldn't eat it.

The Sunday buffet brunch is by far the best I’ve ever experienced in the Twin Cities area. The food is fresh, flavorful and unique. It’s not just your typical boring brunch selections. I’m always impressed and happy with the food and service at Baldamar.

Outstanding service, the best steaks and sides. Get the mocha mudpie if available, it's a delicious ending to share with the table. Easy to make reservations online. Perfect for celebrating big events.

I have been to Baldamar many, many times. This is the first time I was disappointed with the food. Lamb chops were very small & the accompanying veg … soggy. Absolutely not worth the price

Our experience wasn’t bad; I just have expectations that an establishment like this would be better. Our host sat us without saying a word to us on the way to the table. Our server was more of an order taker than a great server. We didn’t have a lot of dialogue or engagement; our reso said “special occasion,” but that was never inquired about. We had a wobbly table, which the server noticed — and then shook the table, spilling my fresh beverage so much that if I had picked up my paper menu, liquid would have spilled onto my dress. He did put a wedge under the table leg afterward, but the menu wasn’t replaced and the spillage was hardly acknowledged. Perhaps my standards of service are outdated, but it didn’t seem worth the $250. I would go again if invited, but I won’t make plans to do so.

Everything was excellent but the main entrée the steak was over cooked. We ordered it medium rare and it came out medium well. It was still delicious.

Really good experience but not up to normal standards. Drinks took forever to come. We were halfway done with appetizer before they arrived. Oysters arrived with no oyster fork. A little bit more attention to organization and detail would be good. Still one of our top 10 favorite restaurants.

This is for the special 'Derby Event' specifically. The first and last courses (cornbread and butter bread) were great. Amazing food. Second course: Watermelon salad. Many people were complaining it was too spicy. Third course: Shrimp and grits. Grits were cold. Our plates had just one shrimp. Didn't seem like a good dish. Fourth course: Steak. It was just a single steak on a large plate with a sauce. Flavor was excellent. However it was 'advertised' as coming with the signature whiskey mushrooms. Instead we received no shrooms; just the sauce. Even a small potato pile or some asparagus would have made this look better.

My first visit to Baldamar and I was not disappointed. We had excellent service. My two friends and I all enjoyed the food we order. The decor was beautiful.

I’ve only had lunch here prior to this. Dinner was very busy and loud. Food was delicious, as always!! Our server Chris was great!! Tables were very cramped in the back room but will definitely return again.

I booked this for our anniversary. When we checked in they wished us happy anniversary. There was a card and decorations at your table. The servers all said happy anniversary. Very nice. When they delivered dessert it had candles and the nice young man asked us the secret of 32 years. It made the night really memorable. Service is great- server shared her favorites and suggest wine to pair. The food was delicious.
