Salty Magazine and Chef Sujan Sarkar of Baar Baar LA and one Michelin-starred Indienne in Chicago will welcome guest Chefs Janaína Torres (World’s 50 Best Restaurants Best Female Chef 2024) of A Casa do Porco (#12 World’s 50 Best Restaurants) and Tássia Magalhães of Nelita (World’s 50 Best Restaurants) in São Paulo, Brazil for a special one-night dinner event on June 11th at Baar Baar LA. The tasting menu priced at $295 (exclusive of tax and service), with an optional wine pairing priced at $150, will showcase these remarkable culinary powerhouses and their creative elevated cuisine, providing diners with a memorable and remarkable journey through a diverse range of flavors. I attended the Mother's Day dinner, and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, and I got to try items I had never had before. The only negative was our dirty dishes sat on the table through the first 3 courses.

Went there because of the hype but the food is terrible! No authenticity and tastes bland. The service is extremely slow. Probably not coming back! It’s not Baar Baar (again and again).. it’s just Ek baar( just once)!

One of the best Indian food I've had in a very long time. Food tasted great and the ambience is so chic and elegant. The service was so smooth and the overall experience was one of a kind.

They set the Baar Baar low here. Ordered $200 in food and nothing would make me want to return. Flavors were too mild and safe. Nothing could be spiced up. The chutneys were fine. The oysters were bland. The naan was ok. The jackfruit large plate was ok. Service was obsolete. No one checked on us and we had to ask for things several times. Won’t tell anyone to eat at Baar Baar.

Overall experience at baar baar is great! The food is very innovative. Menu looks a bit different but the food is phenomenal. The manager was very attentive. We were celebrating a birthday party and it went great! Thanks!

The drinks were pretty, creative, and well-balanced. My favorites were the Hera Pheri and Laagan. Brian, our bartender, was exactly the kind of bartender you would want at every restaurant. He was friendly, attentive, accommodating, and skilled. Our meals were bursting with savory, bright, and addictive flavors. The highlights of our dinner were the butter chicken, lamb chop, curries, and a hemp seeds chutney I wanted to take home with me in a jar. I enjoyed the open space, classy atmosphere, and the incorporation of art and drama in the design. I had so much fun and I can’t wait to come back!

My wife and I came here last night. She loved Indian food but we’ve never been to a proper restaurant. They had valet parking for about $15 which was not too bad. I asked for a quiet seating area and we were given just that. Unfortunately the area we sat it was also the designated area for large parties as well. Our quiet evening turned into a very loud dinning experience. Thankfully my wife is a saint and said the noise didn’t bother her. The staff offered to move us which was very nice to offer. Our serve took it a step further and discounted our drinks- we were thankful for the gesture. The food was amazing. You must order multiple plates for a full experience. The food was amazing, but I do wish the food was hotter (temperature wise). We were stuffed by the end. After we decided to hangout at the bar for about 39 minutes and enjoy a few cocktails. The bartenders were friendly and very knowledge able. Overall amazing experience and would happily come back again to try other dishes.

Excellent! The staff was lovely, and the food was filled with such incredible depth of flavors. Everything was cooked perfectly, sauces were delightfully creamy, and paired so well together. We got the duck tacos, the butter chicken, the assortment of curries, the pomegranate raita (yuuum), garlic naan, saffron rice, chutneys and crips!

It is important to see that everything here is extremely powerful, strong-flavored, and rich in texture, thus it is somehow hard for diner to order a la carte without getting bored towards the climax of the meal.

Not traditional Indian food, but slightly modified to bring in more unusual flavors. Nearly all of the dishes we ate were excellent (you can skip the celeriac w/ sunchokes and the pork belly, but don't miss the lamb keema, green pea kulcha, cauliflower and lamb shank). It is a bit loud and the waiters were a little quick (and not loud enough) with their explanations of what they were bringing as they deposited each dish on the table, but they were accommodating when asked to repeat themselves. We could have used a few more check ins to fill our wine glasses. Despite those few complaints, overall, the service was good. Prices are around what you'd expect with the final bill coming to around $90 per person for our party of 4. We were all quite satiated and content with the variety of flavors in our meal when we left.

Easily becoming our favorite restaurant in LA. We’ve had Henry both times and he’s so wonderful and helpful! The drinks are beautiful and unique, and the food is out of this world. Love Baar Baar!!!

Incredible food and ambiance! We tried so many amazing dishes and I highly encourage family style so you can try a little of everything. And leave room for dessert and chai at the end, it is worth it!

As an Indian, my experience at Baar Baar was mixed. The atmosphere was vibrant but the tables were too close to each other, which detracted from the dining experience. While the food was decent, it lacked the authentic flavors I was hoping for and seemed overpriced for what was offered. Overall, I'd rate it a 3/5, as it provided a decent dining experience but fell short in delivering true Indian cuisine.

This place is almost a first class restaurant, and we're rooting for it. - Decor - very nice, beautiful bar, mural, cocktail menu and ambiance. - Food - overall interesting/good, some dishes hit-or-miss, probably could more guidance on crowd favorites - Service - clearly needs someone who has run a first class restaurant before. 1) menus took forever to arrive. 2) water took forever to arrive. 3) drinks showed up after appetizers. 4) waiter was nice but had a "what can ya do" demeanor as if it's always like this. 5) no guidance that all dishes ordered were spicy despite having children at the table and no mention of spice levels on menu. For a $300+ dinner, everything needs to be tight if you want customers to return. Downtown deserves Baar Baar. Baar Baar just needs to tighten the experience and increase their level of service. -

Food was great. I think they were understaffed that night and got slammed with conference attendees so the service was basically nonexistent. Kinda killed the vibe of my birthday dinner. But I’d go back and give them another shot because every bite of food was spectacular!

So excited that there’s finally a high end Indian restaurant in DTLA! Such delicious food and amazing ambiance and attention to detail in esthetics was definitely appreciated.

Service was absolutely awful. Server was MIA post order. I was there to celebrate a birthday and shared with several people. Dessert came without a candle.

Excellent food. Fantastic drinks. Exceptional service. I’ve dined here with various guests over the past year… each visit has been great. Dahi Puri, Sweet Potato Chat, and Butter Chicken are stand-out dishes.

Fantastic restaurant, it's always my first choice! One of the few restaurants I enjoy driving 45 minutes to get to, any day. Shout out to the Manager Will, super super nice and always spot on amazing food!
