We are fortunate on Vancouver Island to have some of the most incredible organic and local producers in the country and access to some of the world’s best fish and seafood. At Atelier, we draw inspiration from our local producers, fisherman, and farmers to serve you the freshest ingredients.

To start, there was a sincere apology that Open Table didn't recogize that the date we reserved was a holiday and that Atelier is not open on holiday Monday's. Our reservation was readily changed to the day before. We were warmly welcomed and seated. There is no item on the menu for vegans but from a prior visit, we were informed that if we let them know 24-48 hours in advance, a vegan meal would be available. It was and was delicious! The restaurant is very small and tastefuly decorated. The owner was our waiter. He is very passionate about the food, wine, and service. Definitely a restaurant to enjoy.

The chef had gave his staff time off for the long weekend. He had help for the kitchen but undertook the rest of the restaurant himself. He waited tables, prepared drinks and basically was the entire front end staff. The food was very good but the only complaint was the frites came out lukewarm warm. Other than that an excellent meal.

Took Mom for an extra Mother’s Day dinner, her choice of restaurant - Atelier. Matt greeted us warmly at the door and we enjoyed a quiet early tapas-style dinner of devine gougeres, halibut, steak, asparagus and frites with wine, finished with a lovely lemon tart and coffee. The smooth jazz vibe and amazing service made it all the more special. Try their Smoke and Rum cocktail!

All in all our first visit was a success. Only suggestion is that for the pickier customers, perhaps filet magnon would be a better cut, and a nice vegetarian option. Otherwise, we are definitely coming back. Service was a bit slow but as only one server it was understandable in an atmosphere where you don’t want to be rushed through the meal.

Restaurant ambiance is nice and the service and cocktails were lovely. The food though was meh.

Our meal was superb. We shared the halibut ceviche. My husband had the salmon nicoise and I, the lamb. All were outstanding. We will definitely be back.

We put in a request fir chsteabriand which was no longer on menu It was nice of him to bring it in for us and it was excellent. Meat was beyond tender The price was a shock whe we got the bill We were expecting it to be the same as when it had been on menu but it was almost double
