We came in for a quick dinner and it was wonderful. Great food, perfect sharing portions, and amazing service. I highly recommend the aranchini and pasta pomodoro. The affogato was a perfect finisher.

Loved the idea of small plates so you get lots of different flavours. Food was fresh and very flavourful. The restraunt was a little cold but not unbearable, staff where great.

Very easy to book through open table and didn’t require a deposit even with us requiring a table for 14! No problem when we needed to change the booking down to table for 12. Plenty variety on the menu- good to get Italian style tapas. Perhaps not a top notch authentic Italian but food still tasty. Good range of cocktails too. I’d definitely recommend for larger groups as very spacious and open feel. All staff very attentive.

Food was of really poor quality. Carbonara was unbearably salty and pizza was just plain bland. . I’m not one to normally complain and didn’t on the day but wouldn’t go again. Expensive for poor quality food and awful cocktail . Sorry

Absolutely appalling service. It took over an hour before food arrived and there was no explanations outside of “we are busy”.

The food is so delicious here and it’s such a great idea, to have it like tapas, lots of small plates of things, that you can share. A great selection of pasta and pizza, tasty beer (which you can sample first) and a few nice wines too. The desserts are rather scrumptious. I simply cannot fault Assaggini for their food or service A+

Very good! Had to change up on a couple of our sides a few times but they came right out. Good size plates for the price. Would return :))

Lovely restaurant the service was amazing took care of all our needs. Food and cocktails were delicious!. Great price. I let them know it was a birthday dinner and they brought out a desert with a candle and we all sang happy birthday. It’s was amazing thank you. Definitely will come back.

Most the food we found rather bland and not up to our expectations The place was quiet with no real atmosphere I also found the place to be cold in temperature not helped by the table tops being marble that is cold to touch

We had a lovely new years eve dinner Friendly and efficient and good food. The glass of prosecco each on the house was appreciated. Franco was excellent. The gluten free pasta was as good as the normal pasta

We’ve dined here before as the food is delicious and the service is unsurpassed. I like the idea of the tapas style portions instead of big plates of food plunked down in front of you. There’s a great selection of beer, which you can sample before making an choice and some nice wines. The desserts are very tasty too, I simply cannot fault Assaggini. Highly recommended for lunch or dinner 😋

Assaggini was a cute little Italian restaurant. Small plates for tasting and sharing. We ordered 3 different plates: lasagna, spaghetti and a pizza. Yes, the plates are small but filling and very good. It’s a great way to try lots of different shareable dishes. Great place for a change.

The food was good but we felt the service was extremely slow and some of our dishes were not hot and not value for money. The concept of the restaurant was nice but not sure we’d be back based on the service.

Food was bland and nothing special. When given the bill we had been overcharged as to the prices on the menu and we were told this was because the menu they were using was from a different venue. When we asked about this we were told they would knock off the ‘optional service charge’. Plenty of better similarly priced italians in Edinburgh.

Food was very good but the atmosphere created by some of the staff was unpleasant and made it very difficult to enjoy the experience. The lowlight was the manager raising his voice to a junior colleague while serving the table next to us. Felt like it wasn’t an enjoyable place to work - I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team of waiting staff so on edge - couldn’t by a smile from them. My advice would be: 1. The manager and more senior waiting staff leading by example and creating a positive atmosphere - not just barking orders around to them 2. Give good training and support to the more junior staff

Overall disappointing. Focaccia was not focaccia but a flatbread, pasta was either under seasoned or incredibly salty, and pizzas were the same dough used for the focaccia with just bland toppings added that slid off. Service was abrupt and pushy and despite it being relatively quiet, they seemed distracted and forgot to bring us what we’d ordered. Toilets looked cheap and ill-designed. No atmosphere in just a big room with little decoration. I get the impression that this has been a cheap job done quickly in the centre of Edinburgh to attract tourists rather than an attempt to add a quality restaurant to Edinburgh’s food scene. Positives - nice negroni and arancini.

The staff were friendly and chatty and very helpful when deciding what to order from the menu. We really enjoyed our meal and would visit again! They also surprised us with an anniversary dessert! A very lovely dinner.
