We made a reservation, arrived on time, were told our table would not be ready for 15 min. There is no where to wait at the restaurant (no room at the bar and we had someone under 21 with us and there is no place else to wait where you are not in the way. We chose to wait outside. Why bother making reservation if the table is not ready? There were several open tables, too and upon return 15 min later those same tables were open! It's just very frustrating and this is the second time something like this has happened. If it happens again I am not so sure I will be as open to returning.

We received a call shortly after we left from our server who claimed our card did not go through. But we received a receipt at the end and signed off on a tip. I asked her to hold on while I checked my bank, and sure enough the charge was there. When I tried to unmute her to let her know, the call was gone, she had hung up. I don’t know if they thought we were drunk because we did the bottomless mimosa and they were trying to double charge, or it was a genuine mistake on their part…. Aside from that, everything DURING our visit was phenomenal

This was our third time to dine at Amerikas, and we have never been disappointed. For this visit, we had dinner with another couple on a Saturday evening. By 7:00 the restaurant was full, but did not feel overly crowded, and the music was a nice background accompaniment to the ambience. We started off with the brussels sprouts as an appetizer, which were perfectly done: not crunchy but not too soft, either. Ordered a Mexican-style lager, Alba, from a local Chicago brewery, Casa Humilde, and an Ipanema Sunset cocktail, which was well made and quite tasty. For the main courses we ordered chile relleno, barbacoa (lamb), pork tenderloin, and a new steak and mole dish. All of the dishes were fantastic -- perfectly prepared and well presented. For dessert we ordered the dragon fruit cheesecake, which was so spectacular we ordered another serving. It is not to be missed! One caveat is that the size of the dishes is smaller than what you might find in many American restaurants, so if you are coming in with an appetite, you definitely should order 3 dishes per couple.

Came for a early dinner! Drinks were excellent! I had a hibiscus mock-tail that was sweet and spicy. We shared a salad and two entrees, chili relleno and the hanger steak with mole !! Mole was one of the best we’ve had in a while!

Went on Valentine’s Day and tried the special drinks. Very potent to start off a romantic night. Chimichurri fries were a little undercooked but waitress quickly replaced them. She was on top of things, even on a busy night. Water glass never reached empty. Pulpo was not rubbery and full of flavor. Lamb was fall off the bone delicious. Though I generally don’t like acorn squash, I devoured the calabaza here. Finished off the meal with the chocolate mousse. Will definitely come back for more.

Won’t be coming back. Made a reservation for 4 people for 630 on a Friday night. Arrived on time, and asked for one of the two tables by the window (both were empty). Was told no, those are saved in case a larger group arrives . We were taken to the way back and seated by the kitchen door. As the hostess was seating us, she told us that they have a 60-90 minute dining time maximum. A time limit! I told her that I’d never heard that before at Amerikas and that there was no note of this on OpenTable when I booked (I have seen this at a few much busier and higher end places in the city). We then took a moment to decide what to do and realized we had zero incentive to stay. I’ve never felt more unwelcome at a restaurant. And they were not that busy!

Despite having a reservation and arriving with our entire party on time, we did not get seated until 20+ min after reservation time. While waiting next to the bar no one offered to get us drinks. It you are going to have more than a few min delay seating the party there should be a place to wait that is not near a storage place going need to be accessed by staff for needed items. We were constantly having to move out of someone’s way. They were over booked and even though we had a reservation we paid the price for their lack of organization. Also, we waited more than 5 min to be greeted and get a drink menu when we were seated.

The food is excellent. We had the acorn squash and mushroom risotto. It was buttery, delicious, warm, and comforting. My steak was delicious with a mole and tomatoes covered with shoestring yucca fries like a porcupine. The mole must have been a green mole because it reminded me of a chimichurri. My girlfriend had the ceviche which comes out with a cloud of dry ice. The service was great. The only drawback to the evening was the location is tight, cramped, and a bit loud. Wait staff are often forced between tables to hear and serve the guests bumping the table next to them. It is a very tight squeeze.

The restaurant was practically empty when we got there. The food was fantastic and the drinks were okay. By the time we left there wasn't an empty seat in the place. Nice night out!

Incredible food for meat eaters and vegetarians. The menu is unlike any other restaurant in Oak Park or surrounding areas. Come with an open mind and trust the chef.

The food wasn’t the greatest, chicken had a taste of fridge and the churro was not very tasty. Service was slow - the place was packed - but a restaurant should plan for that. Noise level through the roof, music in the bathroom was deafening. Would not go back.
