At Ambrogio by Acquerello we seek to operate within the frame of a New Italian Cuisine, built on concreteness, innovation and respect for our great Italian Culture and Materia Prima, as well as the amazing resources of San Diego.
We work without employing sous-vide or parboiling techniques but cooking "à la Minute" to accomplish maximum quality and an integral respect for the “materia prima”, seeking to sweep away the customer through the experience and hospitality that we strive to offer.
Italy, France, Korea, Japan and California: the five countries that define our cuisine and allow us to create a unique set of masterpieces where the traditional flavors of Milan typical foods meet the exoticism of Pacific Asian influences.

Experience Michelin Star Chef Salmoiraghi’s Iconic 8-Course Tasting Menus in our charming La Jolla Restaurant for this Father's Day. Three Different Tasting Menus available: 8 Course Chef's Signature Tasting Menu - $159 per person 8 Course Seasonal Vegetarian Tasting Menu - $139 per person 4 Course Kids Menu - $99 per person (up to 12 years old) Full Vegan Tasting Menu available upon request with at least 48 hour notice All reservations require a $50 per person deposit fully refundable up to 48 hours in advance. To better accommodate your culinary experience, we gently require a 48 hour notice for allergies and dietary restrictions. A full Vegan menu is available only upon request.

We had a lovely time at Ambrigio! I was so grateful that there was a vegetarian tasting menu!! And Mariana was so sweet and the perfect server!!She really made our experience!!

Truly an unforgettable dining experience. The owners and staff are fantastic - superb service! The creativity of the chefs is unparalleled. It’s hard to adequately compliment the quality of each dish we enjoyed. I can’t wait to bring family and friends to experience Ambrogio!

A bucket list experience. The wine pairings with the 8 course menu was beyond superb. Professional staff and even one of the chef s did the pairings. Who would think Japanese infused Italian would be so delectable and delicious.

Clearly one of the best restaurants in San Diego county. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful in explaining each course and with wine selections. The food was incredible. I can’t wait to go back and would highly recommend this dining experience. Every aspect of our dining experience was impeccable.

We both had the vegetarian tasting menu which started off strong, but faded and suddenly it was dessert time and we kept counting how many courses we had left, and there were 3, but one dessert came out and some bland mini-patisseries, that really was not3 courses at all. They would have done better if they had more savory courses then finished with one dessert. One or two courses were interesting, like the amuse bouche (which was one of favorite things) and the "surprise" course where you have to guess the ingredients. We asked for the truffles on the pasta dish but they tasted of nothing. I think they were either old or had been sitting around a long time. Very pleasant staff, but overall we both felt the flavors weren't developed enough and my son ended up saying his N/A peach Bellini (which was lovely) was the best thing he had.

Una experiencia interesante, se ve que estan luchando fuerte por tener su estrella Michellin. El servicio excelente. La comida muy bien, en general muy buena. Hubieron algunos platos que os quedaron a deber. Por ejemplo el Callo de Hacha, la trufa negra no tenía muy poco aroma y sabor, venia ya en el plato, luce mucho mas servido en la mesa. Comida muy buena pero no sobresaliente. Pedimos maridaje premium, si bien los vinos fueron interesantes, creemos no justifican el precio. Sentimos sinceramente que la relación calidad - precio no es correcta, cobran como si tuvieran estrella Michellin pero aun les falta. Es una opinión sincera de quien tiene amplia experiencia probando restaurantes de éste nivel. Regresaría? No. Estuvo bien pero creo hay mucho mejores opciones en San Diego y La Jolla.

Once again everything was outstanding. Warm, elegant and beautiful. From being greeted like visiting cherished family to “see you next time!” staff is amazing. It feels like your having dinner at a close friends house who just happens to be a 5 star chef as well as 5 star staff.

A truly outstanding dinner at Ambrogio by Acquerello. The service, led by Mariana, was warm and attentive and the food was superb — creative and delicious. It’s not cheap but it’s worth every penny considering the care in preparation. It’s truly art on display. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a unique fine dining experience.
